And after the homes are rebuilt to WTS standards by volunteer JWs, the WTS will "encourage" the rank and file to sign over their insurance checks to the WTS.

    Very very true.

Our CO from the platform, many times, strongly hinted that "everyone was signing their insurance checks over to the Society" and that "he didn't know ANYONE that DIDN'T donate their insurance checks to the Society."

In the same talk he also said, "Don't trust worldly businesses with your repairs, because you don't know if they will rip you off." Then he followed this up with some typical scam stories to scare everyone.

Geez ... what a bunch of bastards.

    Greetings!

This is what the Society is best at.

The Society has spent decades training for post-Armageddon organization and picking up the pieces and everything from Quick Builds to food-service arrangements have always been "practice" for post-Armageddon activities.

The Society will organize efficiently and the brothers will have remarkable experiences in helping out fellow Witnesses and ancillary help of others.

They will do their part all things considered.

Well lets see if I go to calvarychapel.com or the Episcopal Church site er-d.org I get information on how to donate to help victims of Katrina. I could probably find similar information on any church site. If I go to watchtower.org what do I get. An article entitled: "What is Happening to the Weather" I guess Christ's words to the Watchower woud be. When I was hungry you gave me a magazine to read.

Such information can be gotten from any source and is already being published in all of the news channels so to republish it is no great feat and frankly, isn't really helping the situation.

The Society, rather than paying 'lip service" or asking people to send money to some general fund, tends to organize very effectively at the local level. No doubt there has already been much organization and assessment of both lives and property damage from the brothers in the directly impacted states and localities. The situation is so severe right now that even the US army, national guard and law enforcement, rescue personnel are having difficult doing anything as the news clearly shows.

No doubt when the water is gone, the roads are cleared and power is restored, the Witnesses will be among the first in to help rebuild.

I don't doubt that there will be some help there. There are a good number of congregations there. My stepdaughters grandmother was a witness for quite a while down in Port Sulphur, LA before she was DF'd.

BUT, the point is, are they going to do it without an end in mind of glorifying the WTS? They SHOULD have a link on their site talking about how to donate. That way, they can get funds QUICKER to help in the relief efforts.

It is obvious Euardo that the immediate situation won't be helped much by donations but this situation will be on going and it is going to take a lot of donations of money and supplies over a long period of time to get things going again. I specifically mentioned two organization that I know really do put their money where their mouth is, not just lip service as the Watchtower so frequently likes to label the good works of others.

And I'm sure you are right about the Watchtower helping out. They'll be right there helping the Catholics rebuild their churches. Come on! Anyone who was ever a witness knows the Watchower won't be involved in helping rebuild anything but kingdom halls. I'm sure individual witness will help their neighbors because there are a lot of good JWs but the Watchtower will do little or nothing because that's just the way they are. They don't feed the poor. They don't build hospitals. Other religions do that Watchtower does not. The Watchtower doesn't even do a good job of taking care of their own (this website should make that clear) much less anyone else. And why would they? Jehovah's going to kill everyone that doesn't suck up to them as the self appointed prophet of God.

Not donating anything because the WT says every organization outside of them is crooked is just a cop out. If someone doesn't have a lot of money even making a small donation of five or ten dollars whenever they can will do a lot of good.

Since KHs can no longer be used for relief locations (per a letter from the WTS)

This is a disgrace - what's the thinking behind it? I read on the WT Media site (I think it was there) that WT HQ opened their doors during the 9/11 disaster.

I don't have the numbers, but, I'm wondering how many Kingdom Halls have been destroyed. Also whatever funds the Society sends for re-building will be passed on to the rank and file. They will not lose or spend one red cent out of their Billions from real estate that they made off of the sweat of the rank and file. Many who might need a Blood Transfusion will not get any medical help from the Society.

    Blueblades

But they'll spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend Mr. Smith from his pedophilia charge (aka Vicki Boer). That's all. CG

They will probably be printing emergency supplies of Watchtowers with 'Aint It Awful, the Weather' articles in.

Thats the REAL help in their eyes, help people spiritually, bugger the food and shelter.
