My least favorite would be God because he's depicted as an evil, cold-hearted hypocrite who kills to strike fear into the hearts of his followers.

Good choice, Sonny. And I do not and never did believe Jesus is God. I could figure that out when I a kid growing up in the Episcopal Church.

Def'd, the only difference was at the time of Rehab's prostitution she wasn't under the Mosaic Law, as she was a gentile. Upon converting to Judaism, was she a prostitute?

Jesus came THROUGH davids line. If it werent for David Jesus wouldnt have been born.

Wouldn't that apply to Adam too?

Back to the original question, I might vote for Ezra.

Actually his word descibes him as a God who is READY to forgive. A mercifull and Gracious God.

Jehovah needs to think about whether or not WE forgive him for putting us all in this sorry situation. He created the angel who became the devil and he created Adam and Eve. Don't stop with Adam and Eve and Satan, take the blame right back to the source. We shouldn't have been put into a crappy situation we'd need to be forgiven for. With God's like Jehovah, who needs Satan?

Let's look at Paul's misogynistic rules and exhortations, a la NWT...

"the head of the woman is the man" 1 Cor 11:2

"let the women keep silent in the congregation,s, for it is not permitted for them to speak, but let them be in subjection, even as the Law says. If, then, they want to learn something, let them question their own husbands at home, for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in a congregation" 1 Cor 14:34,35

"let a woman learn in silence and with full submisiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in silence ... However, she will be kept safe through childbearing" 1 Tim 2:11,12, 15

"We have authority to lead about a sister as a wife, even as the rest of the apostles and the Lord's brothers and Cephas, do we not?" 1 Cor 9:5

"Let wives be in subjection to their husbands as to the Lord." Eph 5:22

Talesin, think about the lengths fundy Muslims go to, to keep women from having any freedoms and rights. There are the folks who assert that men changed the original sin story to blame women so that they could force them to submit. I kinda cotton to that theory. Not that the original sin story, Eve and the forbidden fruit story is true. But then there's the old Pandora's Box story.

    Heath,

What a coincidence you should mention that. I just unpacked my copy of The Satanic Verses last nite (I got it just before I moved here, just getting to it now), and am looking forward to reading it for an interesting Muslim take on that issue. I've thumbed through it, and it looks like a good read.

Cool Tal, you simply must come and share your thoughts on it, as you read it.
