I believe that allowing the human race to suffer for thousands of years simply because 2 people whom we have never met ate some "forbidden fruit" is a gross perversion of justice. Any 5 year old child can understand that she doesn't deserve to be spanked for the misdeeds of her brother, yet millions of people believe it's OK, even just, for God to do far worse.
I believe in myself. At least I'm consistent.

Nope, just interested in finding out what people that are so emphatic against Jehovah's witnesses actually beleive.
And once you come to an understanding of the various beliefs, faiths and opinions here how do you think that will help you? Simply put - what is your point in posting this topic?

1) Who is the creator of the universe? The question does not demand an answer....and the universe does not demand a response. The universe is what it is, a dimensional fabric of space and time.
2) Why are we here, where are we going? We are here to make the earth a better place and make a difference and not judge others who disagree with our belief systems. Where we go is decided by our own motivations and desires.
3) Why do we grow old and die? If we didnt, there would be no change, no progress, no rejuvenation of human culture. Existence is ephemeral, that is why it is so precious.
4) Will suffering ever end? Without suffering, we would not comprehend joy. What does not kill us makes us stronger.
5) Would you go to war against fellow beleivers? War is useless under any circumstances.
The sacrifices my parents and friends have made for me over my life mean far more to me than something that happened 2000 years. We should look for love, and give love to those around us who are living NOW.

Hmmm I'm still working on what I believe.
I know I feel more connected to my spirituality now than I ever did as a JW.
I know I don't believe the leaders of the WTS are God's appointed messengers.
I know that the WTS and its teachings have hurt far too many people. And that it keeps even more people enslaved.
1) Who is the creator of the universe?
what evidence is there that the universe was created? I find none.
2) Why are we here, where are we going?
I suspect we are here because after eons of time, this is the best thing we could come up with to kill time

because getting a bad rap eternally is no fun...this way we can start over fresh again

suffering is a mental state and mental states can be unlearned or altered by education.

I believe we are all one on a deep level and I have no desire to harm myself

My point in posting this topic is to find out if people here are sincerely searching for reason and meaning or whether they are just mean spirited people trying to hurt others by tearing down their beleifs.
My guess is that it is 10% sincere, 90% just out to cause pain. I hope I am wrong.
