Ragnar asked:"Why take this to the elders and not to the police???

You're kidding right?.....The elders do not want ANYONE going to the police....THEY say they will take care of it. R I G H T ???.....NOT.!!!...they get the broom out and SUWEEPP.....under the rug it goes, because you must have a third party, witness the abuse....yeah, ok....that is not the way pedophiles work my dear...SECRECY....them and the child. No-one else is present.....been there, seen that....and it's the same if there is just plain old child abuse, of the non-sexual kind....saw THAT with my own eyes as well. And god-forbid, if you are accusing one of their own..... NOPE, their policy of going to the police with serious allegations, is just a joke. People need to take it in their own hands, and go straight to the police, NOT the elders.

My guess is that it is 10% sincere, 90% just out to cause pain. I hope I am wrong.

Ragnar-- pick any 10 posters on this forum and decide which 9 you think are causing pain, how, and to who...read their bios, their stories, their reasons for being here, their interactions with others, and then determine whether your guess was right or wrong.

IMO you're dead wrong, and the only people here I can recall intentionally trying to cause pain to others in the last year of my membership were a few JWs who came to harass and annoy. And I think even most of them were probably "sincere."

I have found love and concern to prevail here...in our own weird and wonderful mix of Christians, Pagans, Athiests, Agnostics, and Others. And we are free to argue, agree, disagree, change our minds, squabble, ignore each other, kiss and make up...whatever we need to do (within reason)...

Ragnar, you ask a lot of important questions. I freely admit that I do not know the answers. If I was to ask someone for the answers, should I ask someone honest or someone who lies?

Ragnar1211---------You need to spend some more time reading on the JWD! There IS a REASON why the WTS does not want us on the internet! TRUTH is revealed! NOT the BASHING of JW's, but TRUTH!

    1) Who is the creator of the universe?
    2) Why are we here, where are we going?
    3) Why do we grow old and die?
    4) Will suffering ever end?
    5) Would you go to war against fellow beleivers?
    6) What does Jesus' sacrafice mean to you?

All of your questions are conceptual and unreal; as will all of the answers be.

Is there that, other than abstractions and suppositions? What is here when consciousness looks through the minds beliefs and interpretations?

Is it the actual truth and reality you're after, or just the impression you are discussing something important?

There are four things JWs teach that I can agree on (on the surface anyway):

1 - You should not murder anybody

2- You should not steal from anybody

    3 - There is no 3-headed god

4 - When you die you're really dead, not a disembodied spirit

    That's about it.

    Hello Ragner,

I thought i would entertain you with a response because you seem so sincere:)

    1) Who is the creator of the universe?
I'm not sure. And as a person who leans towards agnosticism, I'm not certain I care, just as well. If there is an almighty spirit creature, I am comfortable with the notion that I owe it nothing other than to live life in a manner that seems fit for my own being.

    2) Why are we here, where are we going?
We are on the third planet from the sun. Scientists have made it easy on the rest of us, naming it Earth. Where are we going? Well, we are in orbit. Circling the sun at about 30 km or 18 miles per second, in a solar system that is circling around the Milky Way galaxy. From there I suspect we continue orbiting... infinitely.
    3) Why do we grow old and die?
Who knows. I wish I did. But not enough to spend my life withering away anyway, in a cult some guy from Pittsburgh started up for kicks quite recently, all things considered in the relativity of time.

    4) Will suffering ever end?
I suspect not. But I wish for it completely. But there is also a lot of joy in the world, you know? Its not all absolute anguish. Once a person is willing to accept they do not have, nor have to have all of the answers to be content, happiness may follow naturally.

    5) Would you go to war against fellow beleivers?
No. and i would encourage any of my fellow American boys to move to Canada should another member of the Bush family be elected into office anytime soon.

    6) What does Jesus' sacrafice mean to you?

nada. Ok, if jesus were a real person/spirit reincarnate, what have you, alive and sacrificed himself for the benefit of all mankind, well good for him. A little masochistic, but certainly noble nonetheless. I can respect that. but ultimately it means little. I am constantly opening myself to new ideas, as long as they are founded in truth. real truth, not another version of seventh day adventist bullshit if you get what I am saying. I need to see it to believe. So if jesus wants me to recognize his "sacrifice" as anything more than myth or elaborate story-telling, he needs to get up off of his lazy ass and present some hard evidence.

    Hope that helps,

    Chrissy

    1) Who is the creator of the universe?

Was the universe created? If so.. God

    2) Why are we here,

I have no idea why we are here, but while we're here anyways, we might as well try to be good, kind and sharing people.

    where are we going?
    Nobody knows for sure.

    3) Why do we grow old and die?
Because we are a part of nature, and everything in nature grows old and dies.

    4) Will suffering ever end?
    I sure hope so

    5) Would you go to war against fellow beleivers?
    never

    6) What does Jesus' sacrafice mean to you?

    interesting question, thanks for asking.

    Double Edge

    1) Who is the creator of the universe? The Almighty, God the Father, and countless other 'titles'

    2) Why are we here, where are we going? A continuing process of our creation. Earth is a school to from which to learn.

    3) Why do we grow old and die? Part of our Creator's Plan... so we can eventually move forward...

    4) Will suffering ever end?   Of course... Life is eternal, not suffering

    5) Would you go to war against fellow beleivers? Yes and No - only those who back tyranny and those who would try to take away my personal liberties.

    6) What does Jesus' sacrafice mean to you? Love, and life eternal.
