My guess is that it is 10% sincere, 90% just out to cause pain. I hope I am wrong.

That's funny, I've had the same impression from the JW elders, who ignored us for 2 years, then mysteriously called us the day after I talked to a news crew about them covering up my sexual abuse, protecting the abuser.

Your questions are revolve around how you got here - why you are here - what will happen to you and why?

    These are time related concerns.

If you remove time from the equation, and focus all your attention on what you are personally doing with each day, right now, you will automatically find the answers you are looking for.

Anything beyond the present moment is a trick of the mind.

Man I really get riled when I hear this stuff about abuse. I am sorry you have been wronged. I truly hope that the people that hurt you get the measure of justice they are due. I do not beleive any honest person could knowingly allow such a person to continue to associate with the congregation. A question arises... Why take this to the elders and not to the police???

I would guess that the vast majority here are sincere. Many of us have experienced much pain, and it's sometimes reflected in our posts. Personally, I don't care what a person believes, as long as those beliefs don't hurt others. W

    kid-A, great response!

    1) Who is the creator of the universe? I cannot answer your question as it is. The qualifiers are not logical.

    2) Why are we here, where are we going? This is only barely addressable. We are here to perform our Will. We are going where we Will.

    3) Why do we grow old and die? Because that is how it is. No amount of wishful thinking will change this. Accept it, enjoy and celebrate life.

    4) Will suffering ever end? You may as well ask if joy will ever end...

    5) Would you go to war against fellow beleivers[sic]? The question does not make much sense. It depends upon what you mean by fellow believers and why the war is being fought, and in what fashion.

    6) What does Jesus' sacrafice[sic] mean to you? It was a powerful event which obviously sent ripples throughout our collective unconscious. But the lesson he taught of life, death and rebirth was not a new one by the time he expressed it. His entire story is to re-emphasize a story of the Universe that has been told and retold numerous times.

Back in the 80's in Madera, California, I knew of a MS who had sexually abuse all 3 of his young daughters. The whole congregation knew about it, but the elders would not go to the police and it was understood that one else in the congregation should go to the police. I often wonder what happened to those girls. And to answer your question as to why some jws have not gone to the police - it's all about society control and fear among the rank and file to go against the society.

Dear Ragnar, you will find quite a variety of beliefs here. No one is out to tear down and hurt others.
This forum is a celebration of free speech.
You can express your thoughts without retribution here.
There are rules of conduct as you know.
But there are those who still believe the Bible here and those who do not and those who still respect the WBTS and those who hate it and wish it killed.
We are a wonderful mix and proud!
    Welcome!

My point in posting this topic is to find out if people here are sincerely searching for reason and meaning or whether they are just mean spirited people trying to hurt others by tearing down their beleifs.

My guess is that it is 10% sincere, 90% just out to cause pain. I hope I am wrong.

I think your numbers should be flipped. Most of us have family that are still trapped in the WTS. Many of us here, far too many in fact, were abused and did what we were told - go to the elders for advice on how to handle the abuse. Then we were told to be quite so we did not bring shame on the org. And then they let the abusers off the hook to go on in some cases to abuse others. We did what we were told and did not get the help we needed. The WTS has in the past covered up so much abuse. These are not rumors, or just a few cases. And it isn't about getting back or tearing down. It is about making sure that abusers are stopped and the legal authorities are contacted and the problem deal with in a legal manner but also in a way that the victims/survivors os these abuses get the therapeutic help they need.

A question arises... Why take this to the elders and not to the police???

The scriptural reason for going to the elders first was that if you had a problem with a brother you were to go to him first (impossible in cases of abuse) and then go to the elders. The counsel was and is always to make sure one does not bring shame on the cong. We followed the counsel and got screwed again by the elders

You are very, very wrong... Stick around, read peoples' profiles and posts... You will see anger at times, and bitterness. This comes from a feeling of having been mistreated and lied to by an Organization and its constituents.
