I have an older sister-----17 years my senior to be exact------who was an absolute 70s diva! (and I suspect she still is )

As young as I was I clearly remember when she used to spend hours in the bathroom getting ready to go out. She had this one red dress, very similar to the one worn by the woman in the Saturday Night Fever poster, that seemed to dance while it was hanging in the closet!

On Saturday mornings she would swish a broom and mop around the floors to the beat of the Bee Gees, Tavares, Donna Summer, the Village People, Gloria Gaynor and ABBA (especially the Arrival album). So, I get the warm fuzzies when I hear disco music----brings back all the happy childhood memories, like the peacock feathers in the living room vase and Moondrops perfume!

I was in the second grade during the height of Saturday Night Fever and the disco craze. I couldn't get enough of the Bee Gees. I was especially fond of the song "Tragedy". lol

In the early 80's when MTV first started up, they used to play these live videos of REO Speedwagon all the time! Does anybody remember that? REO was my second musical love after the Bee Gees. Oh yeah, and I drove my family out of their minds playing my Kool and the Gang "Celebration" 45.

Hmmm. Makes me wonder what influenced the "Stayin' alive until '75" theme.....

Being a faithfull Witness in the 70's and 80's I thought Disco was spawned by Satan and avoided the music and the dancing like the plague.

In the 80's I loved New Wave music. I saw nothing Satanic about Blondie (70's band but thought of as 80's New Wave) Devo, Gary Newman or all those electronic keyboard playing big haired British bands.

Realizing the folly of my youth I sing a lot of KC and the Sunshine Band tunes at my local karaoke bar. I intend to shake my booty this evening with the Commodores "Brick House" as my show stopper.
