Well, that is likely exactly why she had the experience. Sort of like when you buy a new car, suddenly you see them all over the place. Which is more likely, that you are just noticing them more, or a bunch of people went out and bought the same exact car the same weekend you did?

It could be an invader like a raccoon, or even a squirrel or possum or rat, living in the attic. I do know the terror that you speak of.... not know WTF is going on. I scare myself sh*tless from time to time over imaginaries. But for the cats to be involved as they are, I'm thinking invader in this realm, not the other. You might open the attic and set a couple cats loose up there and see what happens.

Rats, possums, squirrells, can all fit through any hole that their head will fit in, so they could have scooted into the wall, or under insulation.
Kevan used to live in a house that was "haunted". At night he would hear "thump! ... thump! ... thump!" like someone walking up the stairs but quietly. he later figured out it was mice jumping from ceiling joist to ceiling joist!
Now. I have been in haunted places, and I've experienced ghosts. My hackles go up, but they don't scare me. I tend to scare me over silly stuff.

yes, I agree, but they heard nothing going in there. You would thing they would scurry when they went up. But not only that, the noises would be muffled coming from the attic, and they arent. Some sound like they are right at the top of the steps. Loud and clear. I have been in haunted places also, but this is weird.
