The second book you mention sounds like the author is Ed Gruss, a personal friend of mine, who does not beleive in the occult but writes against it. That's what the other books are about. Maybe leave his book in the attic with holy water and maybe wolfbane for extra kick.

My grandmother's fish committed suicide like that..It was a huge Oscar (cichlid also) and he jumped out of the tank. It had a lid on it and everything but the next morning she came in the living room where his aquarium was and he wasn't in there. He had flip-flopped all the way to the other side of the room. Poor fishy.
When my fish are fighting they hit the lid, but they are not big enough to lift the lid. They're also cichlids. Put something heavy on it that he can't lift so that he can't jump out.

I can also attest to the normality of Ed Gruss. I once went to his house to get some info on the Watchtower from him when I first left the Witnesses. I think he was a professor of history out in Colton CA at that time, a very nice person. As for your fish. I think it needs a mental health professional to look at it or maybe a priest.

This morning I saw a promo for Ellen DeGeneres' show featuring Jennifer Love Hewitt and she was talking about a ghost story where her bedroom lights turned themselves on and off and she even saw the switch on the wall move up and down. My guess is she had a form of half-awake dreamlike sleep paralysis. I get that every so often where I think I have woken up, get out of bed, do stuff and then something completely bizarre and impossible happens..... because I am still sleeping and dreamt it.
