Yep...they were doing CHRISTMAS AND BIRTHDAYS when Jesus CHOSE them! LOLOL!! So in DUMPING those celebrations they are SPITTING IN THE FACE of Jesus, telling HIM he was stupid in choosing them because they were part of Christendom!
duh
the one mistake we all made.
and the january 15, 2008 watchtower.
page 24 the governing body makes the following statement: .
Yep...they were doing CHRISTMAS AND BIRTHDAYS when Jesus CHOSE them! LOLOL!! So in DUMPING those celebrations they are SPITTING IN THE FACE of Jesus, telling HIM he was stupid in choosing them because they were part of Christendom!

the nearly 10% increase in partakers at the memorial in the 2008 annual service report is a huge increase.
there were increases in the previous years too.. this massive increase is no doubt attributeable to the 'new light' this year that the calling of the 'heavenly class' was not closed in 1935, as previously taught.
the new understanding this year is that the calling of the 'anointed' class is 'evidently' still open.
Well being that the WTS always claims that the ENTIRE remnant is the "Faithful and Discreet Slave Class" and that THEY are the vehicle through which Jehovah gives his Spiritual Food at the Proper Time...how can they now say that there are apostates in that midst? And the reality is NOBODY asks those 9000 people their opinion, spiritual or NOT, about their thoughts on the magazines or doctrine.
Its a joke. Its not like the REAL ones glow in the dark or turn purple with a litmus paper test.
ROFL
my wife 'faded' during the same time i da'd myself.
we are absolutely both on the same page.. it is interesting [and on another level disturbing] that 'status' plays so heavily in the minds of jw's and their relationships.
as many others have related, my wife sometimes is engaged in conversations with jw's she meets in public, while all those same jw's will totally 'shun' me - sometimes in the same moment.
What better way to get to people who appear to be "slipping away" than to employ their close JW relatives into being double agents? I dont care is that WAS her sister she was talking to. There are NO sacred relationships in this Borg and ALL are expected to "keep the organization clean" and if that means narcing on her own sister she would in a heartbeat.
i apologize for this point, as if beating it to death, but folks, you don't have any witness friends!
there is no such thing.. does that sound extreme?
too radical?
This whole "The Friends" thing is a really SMART tactic if you think about it. Its like an obligatory relationship you have with ALL the JWs whether you like it or not. And its exclusive to them. There is no "being friends with the world" and being one of "The Friends". They make that clear. And you are only allowed to be A Friend if you are a member of their exclusive club. Once you leave...poof...the relationship goes with it....again whether you or they...like it or not.
I too as most of us here...lost friendships that were closer than blood relatives because I "left Jehovah" and that loss cut like a knife to me. None of those people who have deserted me are in ANY position to be judging what I DO either. But no matter...they still have their membership cards and havent gotten judged and kicked out. My best friend on the planet wrote to me after I DAd and said she could no longer have contact with me...while she herself, married, was having an affair with a married elder and going through JC meetings every week.
Uh...hellloooooooo???
my sister told me once she likes to "police" people, that it was sort of a game she liked to play.
she is true to her word, she does just that.
always seeking the negative, rarely acknowledging positive...anything.. is this common among witnesses?
Its absolutely true. And absolutely endorsed that they watch each other and narc to the elders when they see anything going on. Supposed to be a loving provision. Its ratting and tattling and gossipping is all that is.
I know people have been watched by elders who sit outside their homes. I know they have been followed by elders in cars. I KNow elders have called people and had a third party on the line to trap folks. I know JWs who work at hospitals break patient confidentiality and tell the elders if someone has a blood transfusion and is a JW.
There is nothing sacred...and telling on each other like school children is something many get great happiness from doing.
i read these threads and there are a few that bend over backwards to say why wts is correct on this issue or that issue.. they act like typical jw's that refuse to acknowledge points that may show that wts is not following the scriptures or that wts goes beyond the scriptures in a way that is not supported by others.. the point could be the blood issue or shunning or whether 1799 or 1914 was the start (or finish?
) of the last days or whether there is a faithful and discreet slave class or not.
i don't want to harp on each point.
I am also pretty sure that the Organized book that has the questions for baptism in it...I believe thats the one...goes IN DEPTH into moral matters including whether you smoke or do drugs or have or are committing acts of immorality or you masturbate or if you have AIDS....Im quite sure if you couldnt get past those initials questions that the elders would NOT recommend you for baptism. I remember being in a car waiting for someone who was at a door and the elder in the front seat started asking me some basic questions to even see if I was ready to answer the BIG questions from the book! It was nuts how much I was questioned. I thought at the time that was a positive thing because it MUST surely mean that "jehovah was keeping his organization clean" right??
And THEN after I was approved to be baptized I was scheduled to be at a CA. Amongst the people I was scheduled to be baptized with, one brother, on the night BEFORE we were to be baptized was told he did NOT qualify to be baptized yet because the brothers deemed he had not put in enough field service time to qualify and he was yanked! And he was PISSED OFF like you wouldnt believe because he had invited his whole family into town to be there. I thought that totally sucked to do that to him.
The qualifying doesnt come at the point between the baptizmal TALK and the DUNKING when the candidates are being asked those TWO questions. And to my knowledge nobody is standing there seeing who answers YES and who answers NO to those questions...they are asked to the GROUP of candidates. So none of what SPike says makes sense to ME anyway. I am, though, thinking somehow it makes sense to HIM.
Ive also known a lot of JWS who were baptized and involved in incredibly scandalous behaviour whose baptisms were not nullified. Thats a binding contract to the JWs...from which there is only one out once you are dunked... DFing or DAing.
the best thing for me..... my son stopped over and he realized he needs to buy a home....so we quickly did a run on the internet in our neighborhood and he found a jewel.. whether he gets it or not....it was fun for both my husband and myself to go see, help him ask questions and give him the ok.. it's probably just a dream, but reminded us of our younger days.. how was your day?
something happy please!!!!
we have enough horrible negatives going on right now..
Well...I saw the number 210 on the scale :) Which if I was OPRAH would be an OHHHH MY GAAAAAAAWWWWWWD!!! moment... LOL
However Ive been working on eating healthier and taking better care of myself and NOT dieting...since October 1 08 when I was at 250 (yikes!!) and so I have lost 40 pounds!!
I havent seen that number since 1998! Yeah the pace is slow but I feel SO much better physically and that helps me mentally. Im going to be 55 on August 28th and would like to continue to be in good health and NOT carrying that extra 3-year-old around helps my joints, and my energy level :)
Also...since I separated from my husband April1 and moved to this new townhouse, I have been worried whether I made the right choice in doing so...my daughter said to me the other day, "Im getting excited about Christmas this year momma! I cant wait to decorate this WHOLE HOUSE! I love it here! I hope we stay a long long time!" And she gave me a big hug. :) Up til now because my husband is a JW still, decorating our ONE ROOM of the house to do our holidays and the CRAP he used to constantly give us for doing so...is done and gone. And I realized that I can put christmas music on any time I want to and dont have to listen for his truck coming and run to turn it off!!
we of the church believe:.
that all men of whatever race, color or creed were created with equal rights; that all men have inalienable rights to their own religious practices and their.
performance; that all men have inalienable rights to their own lives; that all men have inalienable rights to their sanity; that all men have inalienable rights to their own defense; that all men have inalienable rights to conceive, choose, assist.
Doesnt Cruise keep saying this ISNT a religion?? Apparently if its a CHURCH its claiming to be one. And Im thinking that all of the above applies except when someone dares to question, correct or accuse...the church of lying, hypocrisy or lovelessness, then they grow horns and start spitting split pea soup at you.

I'm not DF'd, but I'm treated as if I am. The announcement was [Spike Tassel] is NOT one of Jehovah's Witnesses, because the JC and I agreed that my answer to baptismal question #1 should have been NO, because I still don't know how to overcome the wrongdoing I get into when my moods get out of order. I take full responsibility for my actions. If they can't help me be an overcomer, I can at least enter into the heartfelt expressions I can relate to. I still partake in an interchange of encouragement with the heartfelt singing I am a part of. I still communicate with "knowing glances", while I wait on Jehovah, and do what I can, by coming onto JWN and interacting as best we can, each one with the others, as long as it works. Spike said...
I realize I was never an elder because I have boobs...but in 13 years i was in I NEVER heard anything as convoluted as this. It sounds to me that perhaps Spike has emotional problems, perhaps schizophrenia or something that is preventing him from having the proper response to things...but I cant see it being announced that he is not one of Jehovahs Witnesses unless he was baptized and then removed as a JW. Unless of course he was telling people he IS one. But what is all this stuff about "the heartfelt singing I am a part of" he keeps referring to? Singing the Kingdoom Melodies is not a requirement of becoming a JW nor does it get you into the good graces of the JC...and what the hell are knowing glances?
My sister in law has Downs Syndrome. She hardly answered ANY of the required questions right of the 100 of them they ask...yet SHE got baptized. So something definitely isnt kosher here.

I havent finished reading all the terrific posts on this thread yet...but I continually am thinking,
If the Watchtower Society tells people that the internet is BAD and EVIL why do THEY even have a web site? SEVERAL web sites... on it? Its like putting food in the middle of a mine field and telling starving people that its ok for them to go get the FREE FOOD you so "lovingly provided" for them...but to do so would mean traversing the mine field to get it, which they say those people arent ALLOWED to do.
At the same time they tell us we cant believe what is on the internet because APOSTATES can infiltrate and alter or immitate "The Truth"...but yet they are claiming that THEIR website is somehow immune to dissemination of UNTRUTHS, HALF TRUTHS and ERROR BY OMISSION and oh yeah...LIES ?
Hypocrites much???
