I have had this said to me also. From my husband. I DAd in 1997 and we moved from Illinois to Florida in Jan 1999. So the result of that was moving to a totally new set of neighbors, kingdom halls and JWs...none of whom knew me nor ever would know me. He was angry for me leaving. He went to the new hall rarely. JWs would come to our door and didnt know who he was when i said my husband was a JW and we lived a block from the hall. Many of the people in this neighborhood including my husbands nonJW sister and her family were and are...alcoholics and heavy drug users. I refused to be dragged into that party atmostphere and voiced my opinion about the children being subjected to it from everybody around them. The result was my rejection in a brand new neighborhood which further angered my husband. When I was crying one day from yet another verbal assault from his drunk sister, he started screaming at me:

"WHAT DID YOU EXPECT WOULD HAPPEN TO YOU WHEN YOU LEFT JEHOVAH?? YOU BITCH AND MOAN ABOUT ALL THESE HORRIBLE THINGS THAT AREHAPPENING TO YOU BUT YOU BROUGHT IT ON YOURSELF! YOU ARE THE BITCH OF THE BLOCK! EVERYONE HATES YOU! SO YOU DONT HAVE A RIGHT TO CRY AND COMPLAIN ABOUT IT BECAUSE YOU MADE THE CHOICE WHEN YOU LEFT JEHOVAH!"

So yeah.... everything that happens to you for the rest of your life is because you left jehovah and those who say that to you are ignorant, and I believe...jealous that you HAD THE BALLS TO DO IT and they DONT.

my wife 'faded' during the same time i da'd myself.

we are absolutely both on the same page.. it is interesting [and on another level disturbing] that 'status' plays so heavily in the minds of jw's and their relationships.

as many others have related, my wife sometimes is engaged in conversations with jw's she meets in public, while all those same jw's will totally 'shun' me - sometimes in the same moment.

Oh if you were baptized a JW...I guarantee you they have a written record of the event. In fact everything that happens to you as a JW becomes part of your permanent record even after you are dead.

Nobody in the baptismal pool said anything to you except maybe "Hold one wrist with one hand and use the other one to hold your nose." Or maybe...come back here Spike...we need to dunk you again because your right leg from the knee up didnt get submerged."

If The Bible Is The Word Of God...

many here have abandoned the bible as "the word of god" and there are numerous reasons for said abandonment.

however what i am interested in finding out is if the bible is the word of god, then what would you expect to find?.

I didnt read this lengthy thread...but I would expect God TO CONTINUE TO WRITE THINGS and He would not have STOPPED writing things millenia ago to a bunch of men only...and would be constantly updating the information to fit our needs today. The old testament was pretty detailed as to things as mundane as women having to go sit a TENT somewhere when they had their periods but cant be specific enough to answer the question succinctly about whether Jesus was Gods Son. Or...if birthdays should be celebrated....or if there is a CHOSEN people or everybody is CHOSEN or whatever. God wouldnt EVER be as sloppy as the Bible is.

Or it would contain something useful like how to cure cancer.

God never wrote anything. The bible is just a combination of a bunch of writings...and EDITED to exclude OTHER writings...that some men have hung their hats, their religions, their wars and killing...on.

this forum seems to have changed quite a bit and i'm kind of confused about the different people that respond to posts.

i need someone to explain what a jw apologist is to me.

is that someone who is not or has never been a jw but doesn't think there is anything wrong with what they do / teach?.

There are apologists who support abusive husbands, pedophiles and rapists and serial killers too. I put the WTS right in that same pile.

I think next time the JWs come to my door I will vomit on them. Since apparently one can do this at will and it causes repulsive people forcing themselves on you to stop.

Witnesses "Policing" People...Is It True?

my sister told me once she likes to "police" people, that it was sort of a game she liked to play.

she is true to her word, she does just that.

always seeking the negative, rarely acknowledging positive...anything.. is this common among witnesses?

This policing is why GROWN PEOPLE are required as JWs to have "chaparones" when they are "dating". Its a police state. There is some twisted reasoning that to do this is what Jehovah wants them to be doing and it endears them to the elders and gives them points on some kind of cosmic score board. And maybe a part on the next Circuit Assembly! Oh joy joy!

Insomniacs...your tricks for staying asleep?

personally i have tried ambien,....yes puts me out but i am up in 2 to 3 hours.....heavy doses borrowed from those taking it for years.

they are shocked it dosen't keep me down.

i just wake up woozey....i hate it.. i can fall asleep easy but just dont stay asleep....its absolutely awful.. i wake up probably 3 times a night if not more, ....i take the dog out, whether he wants to or not, go out smoke a cig and then go back to sleep.. what i find helps me is very fresh ironed sheets with lavendar scent.....that will give me 3 hours without waking up.. the blankets can't be too cold or too hot,..which is almost impossible to get perfect,....the pillows cant be too hard or too soft....i have at least 6 on the bed to choose from..... what the hell is wrong with me?

Well Ive been working the 9pm-5:30 AM shift now where I work and have had to learn to sleep from 6AM to like noon or 1PM which is REALLY hard as the world is all UP then. I have found that light blocking shutters on the windows is good. I also have an oscillating fan in the room which not only keeps the air moving and the room cool but provides "white noise"...a low humming that is both comforting and blocks out noise from activities going on outside.

When I have a really hard time, I take half a Tylenol PM and it is sufficient and non addictive.

you know, the 'service committee', best recognized by the pious look of pain on their faces, the brown smudge of shit on their lips right after the circus overseer arrived.. there was gossipping garbo and the merry pioneer fornicators, joy and marysue the racial bigots, and brice the janitor, expert in hiding his child-labor business from uncle sam.. elder bob, a happy pensioner, who designed weapon systems until he retired, but insisted it was 'not his department'.

Brother PO Drunkman who had to be propped against the wall in the back of the hall every Sunday morning after binging on Sat nights. ("He has a back problem so its best if he stands")

Sister Gossipmonger who spent most of her meeting time in the womens john ripping apart everybody else out there while I sat in the nursing mothers section of the area trying to hear the meeting on the speakers.

Brother Bornindatroof who parked his red sports car in the handicapped spot, and took teenaged JW boys to strip bars on weekends and ran a S&M JW club online...and gave talks once a month about Jehoover.

Sister PioWhore - who was pioneering and married but was screwing the married elder who was giving her "marital advice" ...alone at her house.

Brother Daughtersknockedup - whose kid at 16 was sleeping around and got pregnant but got only a slap on the wrist for it.

Sister HubbyDub who was 38, married, and did all the "family parts" with her elder husband and baptized-at-nine kid, and aux pioneering all summer long with an 18 year old "visiting" brother with whom she was sleeping and attended pioneer school..who was DFd for adultery and married this KID...deserting her whole family. Shes reinstated btw.
