@design - Haha! I never actually thought of that! I think you could use that saying a lot actually.

My biggest gripe with the bible!
by thedepressedsoul inthis book can literally be used to fit whatever agenda you have!
you can pull a scripture from here or there and apply it to what you want to do or what your agenda is.
i can't believe i never noticed how bad this was within jw.

The end part of the bible supports organized religon but I can't see how organized religon can be possible because of how many different ways it can be viewed.
I just can't see God or Jesus supporting organized religon if they're real and yet the end of the bible establishes it.

Night and Day from GB to Writing committee? Someone explain?
by thedepressedsoul inim sure by now most of you are familiar with anthony morris talk from this weekend.
im even seeing memes posted all over instagram from jw mocking it.. here is my question, why are the things written so different from how the gb members, like anthony morris are?
i know the gb dont actually write the stuff but i was under the impression that they come up with the spiritual light pass if off to the writing committee and they put it in the publications.

It all just blows my mind! There is so much in writing about MS not being a "status" and to be kind to ones that aren't and help them etc... Then you have Anthony on stage saying something completely different!
You know how many elders are going to use that age 23 line now when a sister asks about a future husband! Or when a elder seems something that looks tight to him! What if your socks have a little more color that day than normal? My mind was blown Saturday! This is the exact crap I was hoping they were getting away from based off of JW.org and new publications.
I feel like things are going backwards very fast and that it'll be the 60's all over again. Did we not just study 2 weeks ago about how all other religions cover over god's word with rules? How can JW.org show so much love and then see the GB be completely different.
Sorry for the rant but this really bothered me. I think I will always look back at that talk as the thing that truly awakened me.

Your can have an evil agenda and use the old testament as fuel to do so. You can take a loving approach and use the Greek scriptures. I just don’t get it.

If I understand correctly the Watchtower isn't against Yoga pants, 23 MS, tight pants, colored socks in writing but internally is. That way the media, apostates etc have nothing to quote and the WT can say that is not their offical teaching or stance. Those on the inside though, if they do not follow that direction are heavly looked down upon. Is my understanding correct?
That explains why there is also a night and day approach as to what is on JW.org and in the Awakes vs what is taught in the Kingdom Hall.
JW.org says members have a conscience decision to make about entertainment and movies while on the inside Twilight etc is mentioned as being wrong.

I’m sure by now most of you are familiar with Anthony Morris talk from this weekend. I’m even seeing MEME’s posted all over Instagram from JW mocking it.

I know the GB don’t actually write the stuff but I was under the impression that they come up with the “spiritual light” pass if off to the writing committee and they put it in the publications. I could never imagine reading in our publications the stuff this guy was saying.
Here is my other question, if the GB have so much control at Bethel and Anthony felt this strongly on these matters to put them in a Zone Visit talk, why haven’t these things been put into one of the publications? It’s just strange to me and I’m getting a feeling that there is a night and day contrast.
Does anyone have input to offer?
Also, he said that he was going to quote the publications as proof and that it’s in writing and not his thoughts. Isn’t all written material his view point since he is a GB? Seems kind of a monopoly statement to me.

Religious leaders buried Gods Law under a mass of man-made rules and regulations
by thedepressedsoul inabove is a quote from the close to jehovah book.. well, after last nights branch visit we can now add colorful socks, tight dress pants for men, yoga pants (he got the word very wrong), not being an ms by age 23, not working 8-5 fully at bethel etc.... that was just from two talks last night alone!

& They Say Privileges In The Congregation Isnt a Status
by thedepressedsoul inim sure you all have heard at one point or read that being an elder or ms isnt a position higher up but rather that you work under the congregation.. anthony morris just threw that out the window!
i have privileges in the congregation and even i was offended and felt bad for anyone who was 23 or older and not a ms!.
he goes on to tell this story of how a sister wanted to marry a brother and that anthony morris discouraged it because he was 23 and not an ms yet.

I’m sure you all have heard at one point or read that being an elder or MS isn’t a position higher up but rather that you work “under” the congregation.
Anthony Morris just threw that out the window! I have “privileges” in the congregation and even I was offended and felt bad for anyone who was 23 or older and not a MS!
He goes on to tell this story of how a sister wanted to marry a brother and that Anthony Morris discouraged it because he was 23 and not an MS yet. He said it showed he was “spiritually weak” that he was that age and was not a MS. He then goes on to say how it ended badly for her after she married him. Suggesting that because this kid was not a MS yet at 23 was somehow the reason for the outcome being “bad”!
Could you imagine sitting there in your late 20’s, 30’s or even 40’s and having no privileges and hearing this! Basically being called spiritually weak in front of everyone! What gives him the right to be able to tell someone whether they are spiritually weak or not based off of a man made position! I didn’t realize that the bible and god judge someone by the magic age of 23 or not being an MS.
They rant in Watchtower’s about how it’s a privilege and that you work below the congregation. Anthony Morris just put being a MS or higher up on a pedestal and that you were “lowly” or “spiritually weak” by not being one. I feel really bad for anyone sitting there that was just an old, lowly publisher. Disgusting!

GB Doesnt Believe in 1914 Anymore My reasoning
by thedepressedsoul ini have heard a lot of talk over the last year or so if the gb will eventually ditch 1914 and some have even made the claim that most, if not all of the gb do not believe in 1914. ive given this some thought and in the past i wasnt sure.
this annual meeting puts 100%, without a doubt in my mind that the gb do not believe in 1914. id even go as far to say that they talked about that date and have a game plan in mind.. here is why i feel this way:.
there were a lot of changes with the parables at this annual meeting.

I have heard a lot of talk over the last year or so if the GB will eventually ditch 1914 and some have even made the claim that most, if not all of the GB do not believe in 1914. I’ve given this some thought and in the past I wasn’t sure. This annual meeting puts 100%, without a doubt in my mind that the GB do not believe in 1914. I’d even go as far to say that they talked about that date and have a “game plan” in mind.
Here is why I feel this way:
There were a lot of changes with the parables at this annual meeting. They kept stating that “we’re making it simple”, that “there doesn’t have to be meaning to every little detail”, or “we were missing the main meaning behind this parable because we were distracted with little things”. The GB sat down and closely looked at these parables and came to that conclusion. Now, most of those parables were applied to around the 1914 date with the old understanding. That is no longer the case and is now mainly applied to today or in the future. If they looked that deeply into the parables and changed them away from prophecies fulfilled in 1914, it only makes sense that they also looked at 1914.
It would not make sense to change all of that and look that deeply into those parables and not start to question 1914. These are not dumb men, they’re helping to run a billion dollar company. They are making changes that are meant for survival of the organization into the far future.
I honestly believe that they know 1914 is not real. To change that much about the parables and believe in 1914 would make zero sense. I know this will get a change in the future, the question is when? Personally I think they’re waiting to see if any big events happen around the 100 year anniversary to choose their action. When this change does happen, I know almost every rank and file will say they knew it wasn’t true or never understood 1914 when it is finally changed. I already have heard multiple people say that they never understood or really thought that Gog of May Gog was Satan. The same will happen with 1914. I don’t even hear the R&F talk about it that much. I can’t remember the last time I heard a debate at the door over this date or even brought up to a householder.
What they do with 1914 is still up for grabs. The new bible makes me think that they will leave it as when Satan was cast out of heaven, since they have WW1 in their favor. If some big event happens shortly I think they will keep 1914 for a time and use it to scare in new members. If nothing happens, it will slowly start to fade. I think at first they won’t get rid of it completely, keep some part of it “true to their teachings”. You can’t shock the old timers by removing it completely. Then after they made that change to 1914 they will slowly start to dissolve it completely.
I’ve heard people already say “this is not the organization I left, or grew up in”. I think if this annual meeting is any indicator, even more big changes are on their way.

JW - I was thinking the same thing. However, it could be the staging ground for a new JW era. I really think bigger changes are yet to come.
