I agree with Jeanette. The reason why they shun in the first place is because they think that you're going to affect them and their spirituality in some way. This just makes them paranoid and so they dont even think about the fact that they're shunning their own child. So really by acting normal as if nothing happened, they'll let their guard down and see that you're no different to when you weren't df'd.

How many here (believers) believe in the Hell fire doctrine and why??
by jam init's obvious the bible is very clear on a actual hell of fire.
"cursed into the eternal fire with the devil and his angels", rev.20:15.
"lake of fire", rev.21:8 "fire and brimstone".

My friend's dad is a Buddhist and he's such a nice guy. Doesnt seem fair that he would have to burn forever because he chose a different religion.

FYI, links to photos of jw.org signs on top of WT buildings
by AndersonsInfo inyesterday, on the thread i started on 4/15/14, http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/279088/1/essay-by-barbara-anderson-whats-in-a-name#.u1e98jao7l9 that introduces a recent article i wrote which is posted on www.watchtowerdocuments.org , i thought i made an inaccurate statement in one of my posts about wt having a sign, jw.org, on the top of one of their buildings.
i was sure i had seen a photo of such a sign but couldn't prove it until last night when proof was sent to me in an email and the proof is to be found in the form of links to photos of the sign.
i was wrong in thinking the sign was on a wt factory building.

Wonder what jesus would say if he saw thousands of young people leaving school early to spend 60+ hours a month advertising a website?
they're really taking this thing to a weird level.

Quick question: When a congregation takes out a loan from the society, did they have to pay it back with interest?
Also, when a loan is taken out, where does the money come from? Brothers and sisters who donate to the society. I'm sure if the people taking out the loan asked them for the money directly they wouldn't ask for it back so why do the wts feel the need to?

Theists, why does God allow suffering..
by The Quiet One in..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

Why did god make it so that imperfection would be passed on to adam and eve's offspring if he apparently knew from the moment they sinned howbadly humans would suffer because of it?
I remember the memorial speaker on monday talking about how imperfection conforms to the 'Law of Genetics' but that just got me wondering, don't jws also believe that god create all universal laws?
For someone as all-loving as god is meant to be to look at a newborn baby and make them have to suffer for the rest of their life because their parents ticked you off is just ridiculous. Not to mention that he supposedly did this for every human being that ever existed since then.
The dented bread pan explanation doesn't really help explain anything. It just shows how an all-powerful god is too lazy to use a different bread pan

Blood transfusion refused by parents of a 6 month old!!
by outforever inthis was in the paper wednesday - in south africa - durban.
which is quite surprising as our papers usually do not carry stories like this.. this is a prem baby - now 6 months.
the dr's had to obtain a high court order to allow the procedure.. the baby had to have a blood transfusion as it could not absorb the mother's milk and supplements cannot be used because of his tiny body.. the parents refused to give their consent and was on life support so the dr submitted to the court that this was an infringement on the.

Last time I checked, a six month old baby isn't a Jehovah's Witness. If you don't want to take blood transfusions fine but you made that choice for yourself. Don't force your child that can't even walk yet to conform to your beliefs.

I think if you say something big will happen in the future but don't be too specific then no matter what you say it will happen
people will just try to make your prophecy fit whatever is happening to them at the time

Children's comic about Lot and his family on jw.org
by DuvanMuvan inthe comic (which you can find here) is pretty much everything i dislike about the wt.. if you've read it you'll see how they have added to/ taken away parts of the account to make it read how they would like you to read it.. in this version, lot's wife is a materialistic b*tch who got what she deserved and lot is a hero who stood up to the bad sodomite men.. no doubt you also saw all the wonderful images of people dying while fire and sulphur rained down from the skies.
and who says the wt don't provide for the "young ones".
the part about this that makes me really mad is that this stuff is aimed at children.

Don't know if this is because it's on an iPad but none of the links are working now for me
On jw.org just type lot and his family into the search bar and you'll see it
