Sad I too hope they are able to catch the poor little guy and get it healed. In an apartment where I used to live, there was a pond with ducks and Canada geese, and I can't remember if it was a duck or a goose now, but one had an arrow through it. I don't know if they were ever able to catch it but it was in the middle of a pretty big pond and was too afraid to move from the middle, making it hard to capture.

Duck Shot Through Neck with Arrow/Dart Still On the Loose 3 Months Later
by Wild_Thing inthis poor little guy was spotted in kansas city about 3 months ago.
he was first spotted in someone's backyard pool, and has mostly been hanging out in a pond in a kansas city park.
they keep trying to catch him, but evidently he's clever.. they said on the news tonight that the missouri conservation department is at the park tonight making a more concentrated effort to capture the duck.

I read about this and I honestly cannot believe how anyone could possibly buy into this. But then I think to myself that if I were still in, I would probably drink the koolaid too. I'm sure some people are like wtf? but then they just fall back on "trust in jah" and then put the blinders back on. Once again, smh, can't believe this.

LOL Data-Dog!! Okay, I guess I was wondering why they would once again time restrict themselves. Were people starting to leave and so they had to do something to make people believe that paradise is "soon" again? I guess the indeterminate time period meant there was not really a carrot to dangle so they had to switch? Just crazy, smh.

Can you choose what you believe?
by noonehome ini hear it all the time.. people who decide it isn't the truth and leave are said to deep down know they're leaving the truth, choosing instead whatever ideology suits their imperfect desires.
in the new dvd the little kid asks why people believe in evolution and the dad basically says people believe whatever they want.
the actual issue is never actually addresed though: "did life evolve?

Good question. We have no control over where and to whom we are born, which influence the prevailing beliefs that we are exposed to growing up.
People inside and outside of high control groups like WTBatShitcrazy find it difficult to challenge their old belief systems and change the way they think. An open mind is needed and a willingness to listen and not just “be right”.
When you have been told your entire life not just what to believe, but that your beliefs are the only right ones to the exclusion of all others, it takes a great deal of energy to overcome. It’s like you have to rip yourself apart and put yourself back together again. The new you might become something that the old you wouldn’t even recognize, and that can be scary to a lot of folks. This requires a great deal of humility and courage.

What is the JW Mindset?
by losingit inis it based on gullibility, naivete, the ability to suspend all logic and reason in order to hold onto fantasized "realities" of a paradise earth where all humanity will be perfect, where all wars and violence will cease?
is it a personal preponderance to the extreme-- whether it be in judgmentalism, cruelty, rigidity, negativity, and/ or righteousness that lends itself to extreme closemindedness and shortsightedness?.
how do you define it for yourself?

Losingit, it takes a great deal of hard work and courage to do the type of introspection that you did upon leaving the JWs. I applaud you for that!
Upon looking back on my JW youth, the thing that bothered me for such a long time, and still does on occasion, is my own intellectual laziness. I’m embarrassed by it. When the answers are right there in black and white for you to underline and/or highlight, it is difficult to train yourself to think critically, especially when you aren’t even aware that critical thinking is a skill that you are missing. I think of how much better I could have done in school, including college, if I could have developed this skill more. I also think of how much better/smarter I could be today. So my challenge has been to forgive myself and leave the past behind, and to continue to strive to be a better person and to learn as much as I can about myself and the world.
Additionally, I remember being very pessimistic. I recall being in field service car groups and we would always talk about something awful that we heard about on the news. I guess it was part of the “looking forward to paradise” talk, but I don’t wonder why later I became deeply depressed. It was partially from my ex that I learned to be more of a realist and less of a pessimist. Now I would say, if the three were on a spectrum with pessimism to the far left, realism in the middle, and optimism on the far right, I am more often than not, just to the right of realism. If anything, I find myself sometimes too far to the right of realism and have to dial it back down. I don’t find myself too often on the pessimism end, which has done wonders for my mental health.

That was a well done video, young man - thank you for sharing!
I like how you said turning in time made you feel less spiritually strong. Sorry I can't remember your exact wording, but I remember thinking, wow that sounds reasonable to me! The problem is JWs demand uniformity/conformity and don't know how to make exceptions, even reasonable ones. Everyone must follow the rules.
I too hated turning in time and one day I quit going to meetings, quit turning in time, then the calls from the elders one day stopped, and then....nothing. I didn't hear from them again and I felt like a burden had been lifted from my shoulders. I wish you the best.
