Even selling their belongings and moving somewhere would be too much for most of them, and the older members would vividly remember pre-1975 if that was to happen.
Most of my witness relatives would do anything they are told to do. They called it "strict obedience." I know a lot of old timers (including relatives) who have forgotten all about the 1975 fiasco--in fact, they deny it was ever happened and refuse to look at any evidence otherwise.

The Watchtower needs to sell all their property in New York to avoid a potential tsunami. Then take their profits and diversify their money into tax-friendly countries such as Switzerland where they can keep secret accounts--to hide themselves from more lawsuits.

Watch for the Hale-Bopp comet--or, in our case, the Hail Freddie Franz comet as he is guiding us from heaven through the modified and improved Watchtower. By the way, keep an eye out for a sale on Kool Aid at Wal-Mart--which "by extension" would be a sign of "soon."

A wife's working can even drive a man to murder. That happened in our state last year. He was a stay-at-home dad and jealous of his wife's success. He was also having an affair--plus they had an argument. Don't want to go into the lurid details but he just got convicted last week--something like 27-30 years--not long enough....

Some friends of ours had the book study taken out of their home because they attended their DF'd daughter's wedding.

I didn't believe my friends and relatives were evil, but I did believe that anyone who left the truth was evil. As a young teenager, I don't remember the word "apostate" -- I remember "Evil Slave." I found out that a couple who didn't live too far from us were "evil slave", and I almost shivered every time we drove past their house, though I never met them. Then the man was killed in a car accident and I thought good enough for him!
yes i thought rutherford's policy on kid's was dead and the society had wised up....until i read the new "witnesses only" watchtower study magazine...compare.. rutherford's last book "children" 1942 = p.281 "wait until after armagedon to bring children into the world...it is only afew years before the other sheep are gathered to the lord, until armagedon...those with infants during armagedon will have greater woe...it would be a far greater difficulty to care for them during the tribulation.".

My mom said something similar when I was expecting my third child in 1974...Armageddon was so close.

i just came across this comment by someone from a group i belong to .
we just had the visit of our co...his wife made this comment to me:.

He also mentioned that during their run...that Lot and his daughters likely noticed that they didn't hear the footsteps of his wife anymore. They were quite aware that she had looked back. How tempting it would have been to turn around to urge her on. But they knew better, they obeyed, even in that difficult circumstance! Food for thought...we may well lose loved ones to the world before it is all over. Must focus, and obey anyway in spite of grief and temptation to give up! (Mentioned how especially difficult it likely was for her daughters to be willing to lose their mother!)

maybe they're keeping the doctrine but they are not writing about it as much in the watchtower.. below are statistics from their 07 cd showing how many times 1914 was mentioned in the watchtower for each year 1950 to 2006 .
i have divided the years 1950 2006 into segments of eight excepting for the last, which is nine.. on the side i have the average for those years.
notice they have gone from 88.87 a year to 24.44. .
Interesting jump in 66/67 and 83/84. Wonder what new light was coming down the poop shoot at these times.....?
