  Selling homes and property - pre-1975

  i just had a discussion with a relative who attended the district convention.

  he gave me the booklet, "keep on the watch.

  " according to him, the speaker who introduced the booklet talked about the people who were stumbled because of the change in understanding regarding "this generation.

  I didn't reveal it at the time, but the relative I had this conversation with was actually my son-in-law and my daughter. The result of our 10-minute conversation was that I completely lost the good relationship I previously had with them along many other relatives including my father. I have not seen or talked to my daughter since my father's funeral in 2007 even though we only live 10 miles from one another. Even though I occasionally send an email or a card, I get complete silence.

  In a conversation with her brother (my son), she brought up what I said about 1975, and my son reminded her that he remembered when he was 7 years old (1974), she told him she wanted to get baptized before 1975 as she knew Armageddon was coming (she was age 9). She denied ever saying that.

  Never Wake Up

  just got back from an awesome time in maui.

  today we got a call from my fil.

  my mil has been in utah for the last week or so and found out that her family past was full of "demon activity".

  Your experience with your wife could be me. Clyde saw the truth about the "truth" a long time before I did, and I now I really don't want to remember the heartache and pain. But it caused a big rift. I remember one statement he made when I mentioned the "faithful slave." He reminded me that Matt. 24:47 didn't guarantee that the slave would be faithful. He read the rest of the scripture, "If ever that evil salve should say in his heart, 'My master is delaying,' and should start to beat his fellow slaves and drink with the confirmed drunkards, the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and in an hour that he does not know, and will punish him with the greatest severity and will assign him his part with the hypocrites."

  That scripture did bother me for quite some time, but it took something else to really shake me.....the way the congregation treated my elderly parents.

  All I can say is, thank God you have JWN. Clyde didn't have that as a support. You have some great friends here and you are getting some great advice. I just hope you can stick it out. I'm glad Clyde did, but I'm so sorry for all the frustration and unhappiness he went through. We have a much better relationship now, and we try not to look back at how much better it could have been.

  another no-no from the wt.

  this was obviously some sort of manuscript talk, i was there and heard it at the st. louis assembly and asked around, and i know it was at other district conventions.

  what business is this for the fds to be in, not a scriptual affair at all.

  I also suppose next they will have a talk against trying to lose weight, even if one is genuinely morbidly obese.

  I remember several years ago that one of the elders attended a school and when he came back he told the congregation that the subject of Weight Watchers came up. They stated that it was not appropriate and that people should just use their will power.

  None of their business.

  another wonderful part this week at the meeting.

  and this is what the brother said.. he related examples, based on the om book, as to how jehovah kept records.

  funny part is, they all applied to population, the amount of people.. is there any part of the bible that talks about how jehovah kept a log of hours on some occasion?

  According this the drama at this summer's Discrap Crapvention, the Christians who evidently fled to Pella, also evidently kept attendance records for their five weekly meetings and turned in their field service records of hours, placements, and return visits... on time.

  Did they really say that during the drama? Hours, placements, return visits?

  so were do I go now that ive left the kingdom hall?

  many people for one reason or other have quit going to the kingdom hall me included!

  i dont object to the people for they are clean well dressed human beings, i object to the way a prefabricated doctorine is distributed, useing hugh amounts of books magazines and media to attempt to study the bible,i feel obligated to say i agree with that method and under pressure to promote it, theirfore i stoped going because pretending to agree with this method and rendering lip service to it in order to keep from being disfellowshiped is a lie,and liers go to the lake of fire, .

  so now that we have left the hall were do we go?

  Clyde and I wondered where we would go, but it didn't take long to realize we didn't want another religion. Besides we knew that even attending a church could put us in jeopardy with the local congregation because we were long-time witnesses. We don't want to be DF'd.

  Then we discovered that there was a local Moose lodge. We joined along with our two sons and their wives. We spend time assisting with their fund-raising dinners and events and occasionally donate to their homes for orphaned children and the elderly. Clyde is now a prelate and I'm a Woman of the Moose. At our twice monthly women's meetings they offer a couple of prayers and that's about as religious as they get. The only criteria for membership that I can remember is that you're not a terrorist and believe in God (no problem there).

  I don't think any witnesses in the area even realize we are members, but my guess is that it wouldn't cause much of a problem if they did because I don't think they even know anything about their activities.

  Talking to my daughter-in-law last night, we both agreed that this has filled a vacuum in our lives. We are helping others who are less fortunate and at the same time getting to know our neighbors better. It's also a family-oriented organization so the kids have games and activities to keep them occupied.

  Another option would have been the Elks or the Eagles--very similar organizations.

  Ladies: were you often left to deal with the children at assemblies/meetings?

  how did you feel about that?

  did you wish the society would make more accomodations for dealing with children?.

  Yes, I remember the problems I was having with my son when he had just started walking and I had an older toddler. It was a struggle keeping him in check even between sessions. Clyde was working in accounts at the time. Bless his heart! He decided after that it was more important to help with the children and declined any more "volunteer" work at assemblies. But I felt sorry for the other mothers.

  They never had mother's rooms when my children were little. We had to find a way to change diapers in the regular restrooms. Sometimes this was so hard that I remember changing diapers right at my seat--even a dirty one. I had all the equipment with me including a pad to lay on the concrete floor and plastic bags and washcloths.

  I also thought nothing of breast feeding right at my seat. Nobody ever gave me a problem. I just laid a light-weight blanket or towel over my shoulder so the baby was out of sight (sort of) , and it was generally content.

  Why do I have to keep logging in?

  lately i've noticed that i don't enter this forum as bonnie_clyde but as a visitor and i have to log in.

  when i give them my password, i see an error message.

  then i hit the back button and enter everything again, then one of those silly validation words.

This happened occasionally in the past and I thought maybe it was because I wasn't posting often enough. But now it's happening even if it's been less than a day since I've posted.

  I don't mind it too much, but I do think I'd post more often if I didn't have to always log in.

  it was about volunteering, and it kept adulating the un.

  that was before everything was exposed.. i tried to do a search on the wt cd, but must not be very good at it..
