A friend of Clydes is an UBM of a very "spiritual" sister" an has gone with his wife for years to assemblies to keep the peace. He said he was shocked when they announced that the friends could donate by debit or credit card now. That was in Toledo, Ohio.

It didn't work for me. Had dropped calls, and when I would call the number to the home office of the company I work for, the call would actually go to one of their other locations. Apparently, it was incompatible with my Verizon wireless card.

Magic Jack for phone service? Anyone try it?
I tried it two years ago at the recommendation of a friend. It worked good for him. It didn't work for me--the reception was bad. I use a Verizon wireless card. Also the toll-free number that I use to call my company actually went to one of their branch companies. I finally gave up on it.
Just saw an info-merical yesterday about Net 10. Unlimited minutes for $50/month with no contract or hidden fees or $25/month for 750 minutes. I may look into it.

I'm sorry about the format. I was trying to make it better, but it got worse
Hello Dear friends,
Here is a tidbit from our convention here in Amarillo . This is NOT a
spoiler. The item was included in our closing talk and related to the entire
brotherhood in the US branch.
It seems the motel association here in Amarillo decided to cease giving any
breaks to our brothers coming to the annual convention which has been held
here in Amarillo for some thirty years. As a result the brotherhood was able
to schedule only one convention here this year. But their decision was made
a year ago. And it was reported to me that some motels actually raised rates
to the brothers giving no thought to possible consequences. Then last fall
the economy started to crumble and travel diminished. Empty rooms generate
no income. Add to that the fact that the reduced number of conventions
(reduced from a high of four conventions to only one this year) resulted in
fewer meals being served at local restaurants, fewer items purchased at
grocery stores and department stores (even Wal Mart) which fact results in
fewer tax dollars coming into the city when revenues are already down.
The City of Amarillo wanting to be assured that we were not planning on
leaving Amarillo sent a three man delegation of business men to Bethel to
plead the case of Amarillo . Anyway, the brotherhood welcomed them and gave
them a tour of Paterson and Brooklyn . This tour and the brotherhood's
obvious professional way of doing business so impressed these men that they
made this comment as reported in a letter from the governing body to us here
in Amarillo and partially read at our convention, this point. "We feel you
people should be placed in charge of the US government and in six months you
would have the problems, including the economy fixed."The entire 5000 plus audience were very happy to hear this assessment of our
organization and our work. And that comment from the Chamber of Commerce and
the city may open a few hearts to Jehovah.
Just as I was about to post this the local news ( KFDA channel 10) reported
the dollars spent in Amarillo by conventioneers this weekend at more than two
million. -

Thanks for finding those quotes, Blondie. I remember some of them at the time they were written and wondered if they weren't applying the "new scroll" idea to their WT articles.

I'm enjoying all your comments, especially Quendi and Journey On. Also the "noo lite" that peace and security comes after the destruction of Babylon the Great instead of before (as Blondie pointed out). Wait a minute... I think he just said it just would be the leaders of Christendom. What about the other world religions? When do they meet their demise?
Have you noticed that the WT always keeps talking about "new scrolls"? My Bible only says that "scrolls will be opened." Nothing about their being new.

Just got this email.....
Subject: Zone Report Germany Date: 5/17/11 2:02:57 AM
We thought we would share one of our interesting experiences with you. Yesterday we had our Zone visit talks. We enjoyed listening to a talk by Br. Hardy, the coordinator of the London Bethel, (our 3rd time having him as Zone overseer) in which he included many touching experiences. Then we had the privilege of listening to Br. Loesch, of the Governing Body while he gave a 2 hour talk at the Kingdom Hall in the Bethel here in Germany. It was a talk about the last days, Bible prophecy and the future. He described in detail about the progression of the great tribulation and how it will happen in 3 phases, similar to the progression of the 1st century attack on the city of Jerusalem.
The 1st stage will begin with an unmistakable attack of world leaders on Christendom. They will plunder her wealth and property. The 2nd phase will include that the governments will believe that they have achieved peace and security. The 3rd phase is that the world leaders under the direction of the Gog of Magog and the King of the North would turn their attention to Jehovah's people. The King of the North is........He said we will have to wait and see who attacks us then we will know who the King of the North will be. It doesn't help us to speculate. Some of the anointed ones still on earth will go to heaven shortly after the great tribulation. The sealing of the 144,000 would be complete when the 4 angels let go of the winds of the earth at Armageddon. Then Jehovah and Jesus will step in and bring about Armageddon, even using the forces of nature and fearful signs in the heavens so everyone will know that this was a divine act.
Other interesting points were: the explanation of the generation as is described in the Watchtower about how the anointed ones who saw 1914 would overlap those who they could pass this knowledge on to.
Also, he described what it will be like to live forever and the work that will be involved in helping resurrected ones (housing, food, spiritual knowledge etc..) also those who died last will be resurrected first with the exception of the Princes such as Noah, Moses, Abraham etc.. What we enjoyed the most was how he used the Bible and always referred to the Watchtower articles, especially ones in 1994, 1999, and 2006. It was emphasized that we don't know the answers to many things, and that we won't know until they happen so speculating can be a waste of time. He recommended that we picture ourselves in the new world often even if we don't know all the details about it. He also got us to imagine living not just 1000 years but quintillion years and then on into eternity. He said that boredom is part of our imperfection and that once we are perfect we will never again feel bored. He used the scripture at Ecclesiastes 3:11 about how we will "NEVER find out the work that the true God has made from the start to the finish."
He reminded us that new scrolls would be opened and that Jehovah's rest period would be finished at the end of the 1000 years and that he may begin creating new things. It really touched our hearts to hear him emphasize these points. The 2 hours went by fast, many scriptures were used and detailed explanations were given, more than we are even noting here. It was a privilege to hear this information, although not new, but in such an intimate setting.
PS. The whole program was in English and was translated into Portuguese. About 1800 heard the program. The same program will be given in German this coming Wednesday night.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 06-12-2011 WT Study (DECISIONS)
by blondie inmake decisions.
all the decisions that we make?
why make decisions at all?.
-
Bonnie_Clyde
We can save ourselves and others much anxiety and grief if we modestly make decisions only when we have been granted the authority to do so.
From paragraph 11
So who grants us the authority to make decisions? Is it implying we can't make decisions unless the elders grant us the authority? This comment was right after mentioning that elders make decisions in the congregation and follow closely the instructions of the FDS.

Circuit Servant (Overseer) Just Another Elder?
by blondie infor years congregation servants (no elders yet) feared the co visit who wielded a great deal of power over the servants.
if the cs said jump, the congregation servants said how high.
selective memories............ *** w71 11/15 p. 700 a body of elders with rotating chairmanship ***does a circuit servant when he visits a congregation have more authority than the elders of the congregation and can he change things in the congregation, such as times of meetings, the arrangement of the hall, or change brothers in the various positions of oversight?

All elders are equal, it's just some are more equal than others.
Quote from Animal Farm - "All pigs are equal, it's just some are more equal than others."
