does anyone have that appalling video that was shown the elders at the last elders school, then was shown again to all elders and ms in the last co meeting?.
i watched it at our meeting, and wished that i had recorded it...as i could not believe just how bad and insensitive it was!.
sure the first clip was showing what not to do...but the supposed correct clip showing what to do, was even worse!.
Thankyou !!!!!
Oh man...it just makes me spin out more and more each time...
the gb can kiss my ass.. i'm writing "0" on the little slip of paper they pass out.. hey here's a thought:.
you know that "widow's might" stuff they're always talking about?
well i'm pretty dang sure that the lady was giving from the heart not because she filled out some dumba$$ piece of paper pledging two small coins several months previous!.
HAVE I MISSED SOMETHING??
I knew there is a change re 'donations' / 'contributions', but I didnt hear anything about publishers having to "write on a slip what they will give"????
Is this for real???? or is it just a local initiative one cong started??
my father who is an elder with decent organizational connections mentioned that very soon there would be "new light" regarding the resurrected being able to be married.
this would make sense because our current understanding has never made any sense to me.
has any one else heard anything about that?.
And yes, as wolfman85 said above, the scripture was always talking about those in heaven anyway.....
READ THE CONTEXT WT instead of plucking a scripture out of thin air

Ha!
This old classic!
Too many witnesses are harboring their own thoughts on this topic, so it will be a decisive change designed just to keep the average witness happy when or if they change this teaching!
It will all be concluded by a comment like : "of course we cant be exactly sure, but we know our loving father will always ensure that we are happy...bla blah....will have to wait and see when we get into the new world".....

After the sister (whos husband had died) was so upset, and she wanted to committ suicide, they just "Fixed" it by telling her to pray more!!!
No practcial suggestions on how to see a proffesional for counselling..NO! just pray more and reject the suicidal thoughts as you would reject "immoral thoughts"...WHAT THE HELL!!!!?????
I need to show someone this clip, and would love to have a copy please!
how important is the phrase, "i am" to jw's, when it is spoken by jesus about himself?
my elderette wants to examine this scripture (john 14:6) together next week.
i'm wondering what rabbit she is going to pull out of her hat.
"I am the way, the truth and the life...No one comes to the father except through Me, then the Governing Body, then the loacl Branch office, then the local Travelling overseers, then the local Elders, then through the next CO visit, then through the Branch office again, then back to the Governing body, then back to Me/Jesus, who will wait for instruction from the Governing Body on what I should do next, then we will let the Governing Body tell us (Jesus and Jehovah) what we should do, then we will ask the GB what next......oh hang on...I'm confused....who's in charge here, is it my father Jehovah or is it me, Jesus or is it 8 men, oh no thats right, 7 men??????"
ETC!
so many at my wife's hall have rushed to buy i-pads,androids etc for use in servicetm and at the hall.. most know little or nothing about how to use them but have joined the stampede to jw.org tm and the reinvention of the wtbts.. it prompted one elder at my wife's hall to have a seminar at his house to explain how to use them in service and at the hall.. how exciting.... one 80 year old pioneer woman will be there with her new toy.. as a distraction it seems to be working quite well.
no need to worry about 1914 or other issues.. they are all nuts and getting nuttier....
I LOVE the idea of having an IPAD at the hall!
It means that if I am ever bored (Which is every meeting), and I am sitting at the back or on the sound control desk, I just spend the whole meeting here on our Forum! Anyone looking just thinks..."wow, how 'spiritual' is he, always taking notes!"
It means I can post while at the meeting! (kind makes me feel pretty bad-ass rebelious to be honest....I better watch out for the ground swallowing me up like Korah I suppose!)
well afyer two months i get a message from an elder wanting to go out in service a few nights a week and to hang out more....i must now be labelled in the spiritually weak and reach out to group in my hall.
my hall is very nice and so are the people but dagnabbit i hate small towns.... i wonder if i should say no or just nite the bullet on behalf of our fade...hmm decisions.
Just sincerley say "thanks...I'll let you know when my circumstances allow me to. Have a great time out this weekend though!"
Its the classic polite "dont call me, I'll call you"...and you never do.
even when i was dyed-in-the-wool j-dub, i felt the armageddon teaching was one of the most morbid concepts to be hammered into the psyches of jws.
think about it, only jws would survive this catastrophe, which translates to roughly .001 percent of the population would survive while everyone else would die a horrible death.
that includes people who do good things and are good people, but are just not jws.
Good observation Blondie!
Yes it is a lot easier for witnesses to accept mass murder if they dont think of it as "Joe or Mary and little Cindy from next door who always feed our dog for us when we are away"...or similar PERSONALISED characters or REAL people....
This morbid view also causes Witnesses to live like a "cowering dog" in their own lives...scared of the big nasty person who has a raised hand in the air ready to belt us!
