third question: do you think a god of love would choose to destroy me for not doing something i cannot do (be a jw) because i am not convinced rather than convince me beyond doubt?

I have done a similar thing when in conversation with witnesses.
By saying a line like "I prayed for Jehovah's direction, and it was clear that he wanted me to wait and see how the Australian Royal Commission was handled by the society," it shuts down their ability to argue it!
Because if they do argue it, they are trampling on the "guidance" I felt from God...
It traps them in their thinking....
You can apply that reasoning and line to any topic you like....

If your conscience dictates certain decisions and those decisions just happened to coincide with exactly what the governing body says at a particular time ....
witnesses always claim to have a "bible trained conscience" yet they are really just watchtower robots who cant piss without checking with an elder or watchtower.
an elder who cuts hair was scared when i asked for a bald buzz cut since my hair was receding and grey.
he actually rang a bethel elder to see if this was okay watchtower wise!
So that is why we have a situation where a witness says it "goes against their conscience to have a pinata." Then the following year they say it no longer bothers their conscience to have a pinata
It's funny how their conscience just happens to coincide with the current ruling from the governing body

hi there i don't watch much of the propaganda on jw.org anymore but i did catch the november broadcast.. i think these guys are either evil or controlled by someone who is incredibly skilled at mind control.. firstly, they establish their authority by saying "everything" else is a lie - you can't trust media or anyone.
"there is no inspiration today.." but they somehow have the direct connection with god - yuck.. then, they proceed with that disgusting "shunning" drama - but now it is not called shunning, (around 24 mins) the mother said... "if we were to stand between levi and the discipline he needs we would in affect be blocking an expression of jehovah's love from reaching him...".
i am so angry at this, what a load.
It is classic cult manipulation.
They make out that "It is YOUR fault that this is happening"
It is NO DIFFERENT to an abusive husband saying to his cowering wife "NOW Look what you made happen! I had to hit you because you made me do it!. Now you have hurt me by making me have to hit you"

Witnesses do not have individual consciences, but rather a "collective conscience" from the GB.
That is why the term "The Borg" is so appropriate

with recent events pointing at watchtower growth, i felt compelled to say a few words.. if the figures turn out to be true, then we should not be discouraged.
after 9/11 there was a surge in, not only the watchtower, but other demonisation of organised religion.
whenever there is a a paradigm shifting event that puts fear into others, this tends to have a life changing affect on an individual.. now let us zoom to the present.
The only growth comes from under-developed and uneducated countries ....
i have a wife that literally cleans the house 24 7. it's hard on our marriage, our son has no natural affection for her.
if we go to an assembly she literally spends two days waxing and polishing the car.
she hand washes all the clothes before go into the washing machine because no machine could ever do as good a job as her.
Sadly, many who act like that are riddled with guilt. It may not even be proper guilt over anything wrong, but a FEELING of guilt.
Often members of high control groups never feel good enough, or feel like they are not up to standard, and such obsessive cleaning is evidence of that guilt feeling. Its like they try to "clean and scrub the guilt away"
She needs to be reassured that she has NOTHING to be guilty of.
okay there has been lots of buzz about the feb 2017 wt where they say the governing body is not inspired nor infallible.
yet, they are still using the baptism questions.
the second one being... "do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of jehovah’s witnesses in association with god’s spirit-directedorganization?".

Yes, either they speak for God or they don't. If they don't, then why should witnesses base their EVERY life decision on the directions of the GB?
If they do speak for God, then God has a terrible habit of making mistakes....
