Bearded students on Ministry school?
by NikL inso at last nights ministry school we had 2...yes that's right two that had parts and gave them with beards.. i found it interesting.
i thought the consensus was that you couldn't have any extra privileges if you wore one.. maybe the school is different?.
anyway, anybody else seen this in the u.s.?.

Do you air on the side of caution?
by compound complex inwell, that would be an airer.
it's all in how we hear the spoken word.
when a little boy, one fellow thought "world peace" was "whirled peas.

Love this thread!
It reminds me of the "intellectual" brother who often spoke of "religion going down in one foul-swoop" (fell swoop)

At This Point In Time How Would You Feel If You Were Disfellowshipped?
by minimus inbefore my mother's death, it would have impacted me.
now , i wouldn't care..

As for the OP, I don't care anymore.
In fact we don't abide by nor respect the rules, arrangements or terms of the society, so how they determine our "standing" is irrelevant.

If we are further away from perfection, why are we more moral?
by stuckinarut2 inas we know, witnesses teach that adam and eve were perfect and then committed the first act of sin and rebellion.. they in turn were cursed, and we all declined as their offspring.
humans supposedly lived shorter and shorter lives, and became more imperfect and sinful.. the further away in time humans go then, they should be getting worse.
so why is it then that as a society, humans have actually improved in so many ways?.

It has also well been asked, "If this time period is so bad, when would we rather live? The middle ages where plague abounded? The 1600's when the average life span was 35 years old?"
Witness teachings say we are the "furthest point from perfection" now, and yet the quality of life is better now than at most points in human history.

JW Double Standards and Hypocrisy in the Congregation!!!
by Christian Gutierrez ini am sure you have stories as well of elders being a hard ass on many, yet turning a blind eye to the 'sins' of their own family or close connections.
cheers everyone!

Yup...seen it often!
In our last cong, (the one we faded from), the secretary was the typical alpha-male bully.
His word was gospel! He would be so quick to find fault with everyone else and make sure congregation action (by elders) was taken. (over some of the smallest things ever!)
BUT when his own daughter lost her licence for drink-driving, he made sure it was hushed up around the cong! NO-one who knew of it was to speak of it ever again!
Hypocrite!

A purposeful life can conflict with "truth"
by The Rebel inthat life needs a purpose, in my opinion is why many remain witnesses.. yet it occurs to me, if only witnesses could simplify their life, they would regain their sight, look at themselves and see the " miraculous " organisation and the unforseeable future is not as important as enjoying the spring day of today.
this is why i have simplified my life.
my purpose in life today is simply to play a little football with my son, and appreciate the spring day.. but of this i am sure, today will be a good day, better than the " purposeful" days i spent in the " miraculous " organisation, living on the a hope of an unforseeable future..

Well said!
The sad reality is that witnesses "outsource" their life goals and plans to the "society.
If they were asked to honestly plan their own lives, they would not know where to start!
