Congregation Reassignments in Ohio?

from what i understand, a letter was read this past week in regards to congregation reassignments and that the elders want to meet with people at their homes to tell them where they have been reassigned.

obviously, this would be due to the merging and dissolution of congregations.

can anyone confirm this?.

Think of Orwells 1984: "War is Peace" "Freedom is Slavery" etc...

Now the GB is saying "Mergers are Expansion" "Selling halls is Growth" etc...

So a legal precedent has now been set in Australia for all high ranking officials who did not report child abuse to police.

yep the convention is upon us.

i know by the sol apparent in the household.. yes jehovahs people are the happiest people.. not.. we went out for afternoon tea today and silence was served well.

its bloody painful...

Changing name on organization

when people hear the name jehovah instead of thinking about god, they think about a religion or organization.

with all the problems with child abuse and the downhill motion the organization been having.

do you think they change name of organization?

Well, with the LOVE they now have for the logo, they may as well just be called jwdotorgs !

When I grew up, we were scolded if we ever dared to say we were "jaydubs" It was tantamount to blasphemy!

NOW though, all witnesses are happy to call them selves "jwdotorg"

So maybe thats the new name?

i have to say that it was quite a strange feeling.

for many years that i was in, i had to do a lot of pretending with various teachings i personally didn’t believe in.

still, i believed in some foundation and went for that.

Well done for enduring such an experience with strength and dignity!

Its almost like you were able to apply the Convention title and were "courageous" hehe.

I think it was nice that you went for your father's sake. After all, that is what families should do - support one another's big events in life. So I wonder would he now attend some event of accomplishment in YOUR life? perhaps some work awards night, or community awards night?? Would he afford you the same support to something you hold dear?

Yes, once again, the perceived level of "spirituality" is seen of more value in such a report of abuse than anything else! It is like more credibility is given to the report if it comes form a "spiritual" source"!

Because as we all know, the culture within the JW circle of "spiritual ones" is to "leave matters in Jehovah's hands".

This point also rings true with the situation described in the elders book later on when it states that "if an elder has committed an offence that is worthy of DF but the act took place many years back, and he still has "jehovah's blessing", then it DOES NOT need to be dealt with by a Judicial Committee."

YET, if it was just a Normal JW, you can bet they would be called to task for it!!

Apostate - what does the word mean to you?

over a period of time i got to thinking - what does the word 'apostate' mean to me.

having given it some thought, this is my view;.

the org has given the word its own definition and basically use it to demonise people and consider them pariahs.. however, the jw meaning of 'apostate' is a mere word and only has power if recognised as such.

Apostate simply means "one who has left their former belief system"

It doesnt mean a "mentally diseased lunatic who spits fire and sulphur" like the Society would like all to believe...

If you stop following a sporting team, or a political party, you are an apostate of them. Thats all...

As mentioned above, Jesus was an apostate of judaism.

Yes, as you mentioned, now is the time to just show support. Say little, and let her talk it all out.

Simply be "the safe landing place" that she needs.

Slowly introduce the real life to her.

How many child molesters do you personally know of in the J.W's?

were are they now and what position are they in.. lets do a running count.. c.o.b.e was interfering with his daughter,d.f,reinstated died in good standing.. branch oveersear multiple young children d.f,reinstated in good standing.. publisher interfeared with small child in the k.h d.f not sure were he is.. publisher sexually abused 3 relatives no action taken in good standing.. current elder raped his sister years ago little action taken was not an elder at the time.. publisher sexualy abused young girl d.f,reinstater now in good standing.. m.s multiple young girls d.f,died trying to get reinstated.. so thats 7.. karter..

I knew of two cases in my last congregation. Also one other possible one.

Plus I knew of one case in my childhood congregation.
