Comments please?

i am still having an ongoing conversation with a couple of jw's on my medical message board and when i commented about the requirement of a number of hours of witnessing, this is the response i got.

is she being truthful?.

"in all the years that i have been a jehovah's witness,never once has anyone put any pressure on me to do a required amount of time in the preaching work.any time i spend speaking to people about the bible is spent because i want to do it' because i want to try my best to follow the example of jesus and his early followers-acts.5.42, acts 20.20,i believe that jehovah god wants me to be a part of this preaching work mathew 24.14, ".

This person is NOT being honest with you.

I was raised a JW and started reporting "time" when I was 10. If you wanted to be considered a "spiritual person" (how much you love Jehovah), the standard was always 10 hours a month. They figured 2 hours at week.

This number is especially enforced for those who wish to move up to being a Ministerial Servant and Elder.....

Constant Kingdom Ministry's (Used for the Service Meeting after the Ministry School) had a box where the national average was always shown. If your KH didn't meet up to the national average (sometimes 8 hours a month) a talk would be given to encourage more "time".

Sometimes it just doesn't matter how much you care about one another

when certain circumstances interrupt the natural flow and growth of a relationship, it is like a flower that continues to be cut off just as it is beginning to bloom.

the bloom is the desired result for both people, but the bush it grows on (the relationship) continues to take a beating because of the circumstances, and so it just isn't possible for the flower to reach it's fullest potential.

sometimes there is no access to the bloom for one person because the other has erected a fence around part of the bush and the flower itself with the thought that it can protect it, but what it actually does is make it impossible for the other to nurture it and keep it alive.

I believe you do have the "same gifts for relationships"....It is just a matter of meeting the "right person"....

I went thru a bit of questioning when my husband "walked out the door and left me".......I kept blaming myself. Yes, I am imperfect, no doubt about that. I had to assure myself, with a bit of reading about relationships (one such book: Mars and Venus Starting Over by John Gray), that simply this man "was not the right person". (of course his infidelities were a HUGE issue in our marriage).

Ex Music

because i love music so much, i wanted to start another thread on it.. what songs remind you of your ex?

the ones you have to turn off before you... a) cry your eyes out... b) get so angry you would like to curse out loud, or... d) you dont care, you like to be reminded of your past flings.. for me it would have to be anything from seal, or hootie and the blowfish, and anything jazz.

i dont a,b, or c, but i do get annoyed and dont like to be reminded so i switch the station.. anyone else?

Whatever was the "popular songs of the summer of 1978", sorry there are just to many to list. So for me, I just turn the radio off....I can't stand to be reminded that I married such a terrible man, that took advantage of me.

Music is a part of my life....I can identify the music with what was going on in my life. Always have and will continue to do so.

yes, i've been bitten by the bug and have decided to follow her example and enrol for university.. unfortunately, i don't get a student grant so i don't get to blow it all on beer and partying .

but i will get a degree at the end of it

i've been wondering how to approach my family w/ my true feelings re: the jw's.

conveniently, my mother gave me an opening last night and i went for it.

i spent nearly four hours 'getting through' to her and was blown away, b/c she actually agreed w/ me.

stuck between a rock and a hard place!

so i'm new to this forum but i just thought that someone out there might be able to relate to the situation i'm in---here it goes...!

i'm stuck in the middle of my spouse who is no longer a witness and his family who are very involved in the religion i myself was raised jewish and don't really have any commitments to any religion but don't see anything wrong with those that do however my husband is very anti anti-any type of organized religion.... at times i think he's against me because i had a normal upbringing with a big loving family and a normal childhood during which i could play sports and mingle with all types of friends regardless of their background... but my husband has a lot of anger about his childhood that he missed out on and the sports he didn't get to play and "excel" at so now he has no appreciation for things that i find important holidays or pushing yourself beyond your own physical limits just to see how far you can... life can be really difficult at times and i feel like we were raised on two different planets!!!!!!!!!!

eventhough my husband is no longer in the religion sometimes i feel like it is a 3rd partner in our marriage that i have to constantly compete with and work hard to overshadow.... i'm trying so hard not to let this break me but at times i'm at my wits end... can you relate????

Please encourage your husband to join this board because one of the steps of dealing with leaving the JW's is identifying with others that have learned how to cope with the same experience. Counseling is a great idea...because we are learning to "heal"...and hopefully move on with a positive life.

Shower him with love and do things together that are fun....he really needs to know what "unconditional love" is....

Jehovah creates a bad name for himself

apostates haven't done a thing to give jehovah a bad name.

he's done it all himself, by letting his organization make wrong predictions about the end, by associating themselves with the united nations, and by letting them shelter child molesters.. it's that, or the watchtower society really isn't god's organization.

Please listen carefully to what people have already said. She only knows "conditional love"....your marriage won't work, unless of course you really want to be a JW.
