  whe i came across this forum at first i just read the various posts for a month or so.

  deep down, i knew the real truth was not with the watchtower organization, but i couldn't pin point exactly why i felt that way, and why i had so many doubts.

  then i saw something that made me want to jump right into the conversation.

  I saw the last 10 minutes of the May 2002 Dateline Special on pedophiles within the JW organization..........I about fell off my couch. HYPOCRISY!!! They kept saying from the platform and magazines how bad the Catholics were for their pedophile problem....

  Over 160,000 Simply Left The "Truth" Last Year

  that was the comment that a former elder made at the local meeting today in his comment.

  evidently, he and his wife heard a bethel speaker's comment during his talk say that (i believe the figure was) 167,000 people did not get disfellowshipped but simply left.

  the ex-elder made it a point to say that the elders should be watching to help out the flock before they up and leave.

  i have been studying with the jw for just over 3 years.i have always believed in god and the bible.

  the path my life took ended up with me being a single parent of 4 children.. the jws led me down the path of the "truth".

  my grandmother disowned me and i just couldnt understand why.i was told that satan was lurking round every corner trying to get me away from god.

  I agree with what Jgnat said....Make printouts from the UN website showing the JW's were NGO members for 10 years... Didn't you tell me that the UN is the Wild Beast, why would the JW's want to touch an unclean thing? Jehovah doesn't approve of spiritual adultery.

  ...I wish you the best. I hope you can find a new circle of friends that really appreciate you and your children unconditionally.

  I know the feeling, NODenial and I have no family. His kids were all too busy or went to his x's... My kids are still JW's and haven't even returned any of my phone calls or emails in the last month... (feeling pretty down here)

  my 4 year old is with her dad for christmas eve and i shall get her in the morning.

  i have santa's presents all under the tree for her already!!!

  i called her dad and told him to stop by my house to pick up 2 of her books: twas the night before christmas and courderoy's christmas.

  Why do churches still make me panic ?

  i'm really glad i've found this site a week ago.

  reading some of the stories and comments on here has really helped.

  there are so many out there who's lives have been ruined by the so-called truth.. i was brought up in the truth as an elders daughter, youngest of 5, a brother and sister had been disfellowshiped, other brother had left as a teenager and my other sister is still sitting on the fence aged 40 going on 15, if she'd made a decision instead of sitting on the fence i'm convinced she wouldn't be the alcoholic mess she is today!

  Spiritual abuse is abuse. I too was raised as a JW.... Upon learning the truth about the "truth" (tm), I have no desire to become involved in another religion. At the same time, if one has that need, I think it is great if it works for them.

  One book that really helped me was "The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse'......you would think it was written by people that were JW's, but it isn't.

  Like Dansk said, there is NO need to find a religion or church. Your spirituality is between you and God alone...

  xJW siblings... decline "family" Xmas gathering

  does this happen with other folks here?.

  i'm one of 4 siblings who has left the truth.

  there are two more who are still in, along with our parents.. i have tried to organize a "family" dinner the last few years, including my exjw (never baptized) siblings and their respective never-jw spouses.

  Seems like your other 3 siblings who have left the "truth" (tm) would be more then eager to accept your holiday gathering, especially since they have non jw spouses.

  Do they all live far away from you? If so, they might need to know months in advance to prepare for the trip. IF they live close, and have never accepted your invitation, I would wonder the same thing as you.

  I am sorry you are having such difficulties getting together with your family.

  I have been very disappointed with my family, because it seems if I want to see them, I have to pay all the $$$ to travel to see them...

  You and your family are very welcome to visit us.....I think you and NOdenial have some catching up to do anyways....lol
