Questions from a non JW
by shiloh ini have a couple of questions that have come to mind as a result of converstations with my jw girlfriend.
1. we were talking the other day and got on the subject of disfellowshipping and i asked her if she thought it was right.
i also asked her about people who had been df'd for something that the wt has since received "new light" on and thus, had been df'd for something that the wt is now teaching is okay.

Oh the elders are in constant contact with anyone who is DF'd and they are always checking on them to be sure they are okay
I doubt seriously its to check they are ok...and Its not constant. Im not saying she is trying to make em look good, i think she is just mislead like alot of jw's

Were you psychologically abused into going to meetings/service ???
by run dont walk inwe have all read and watched so many of the child abuse / sexual abuse scandals, and it makes us all sick to our stomachs, i want to touch on a different kind of abuse, i am not trying to draw a parellel between child abuse and being abused.
the abuse i am talking about is just as bad but so different.
i remember growing up a jw, basically having no choice, whether i wanted to go to the meetings or in service, and i always resented this in my parents.

How weird is this????

) and my cell phone rings, it's one of my ex jw friends lisa... she's calling to see if i'll go to a "chip n dales" show with her in a couple of weeks.

"Raised in the Truth" or What the Hell Was That Anyway?
by Perry inabout the only model that i've found that helps define the experience of being born in the truth (bitt), is one used in studies on addiction.
basically, that model says that people who are addicts form maladaptive relationships with things, experiences, and i'd argue ideologies as well, in a vain attempt to achieve "closeness".
of course real "closeness" or "psychic validation" as i prefer to think about it, is only truly achieved during and after the interactions between two mutually accepting and non-judging people who possess intimate knowledge of one another; starting with one's primary caregivers... or parents.

Off for my surgery
by Lady Lee inwell i am just waiting for my ride and then i will be off.
hope the results are good of the biopsy although i might not find out today.
and yesterday i bought myself two canes - one sleek brass colored folding cane and the other a standard purple floral number weehoo.

by caspian ini just read a pm that ozzie sent me, although i won't reveal it's contents.
it made me realize the great unheralded sacrifices that ones like ozzie have made on leaving the borg.
the strength of character ozzie has is a good example for all of us just starting out on the same road he has walked.

as for bad dates cant say ive had any...the nearest i can get to bad was with Mr Counter Strike the first date, we watched LOTR (twice) while sitting on his bed. That was it.
