New threat in Terror attacks
by obiwan inwashington (cnn) -- the department of homeland security is warning that islamic extremists might be plotting suicide airliner hijackings to be carried out before the end of the summer, with possible targets including sites in britain, italy, australia or the eastern united states.
"as of mid-june, islamic extremists may have been planning suicide hijackings to be executed by the end of summer 2003," according to the document obtained tuesday by cnn.
"the plan may involve the use of five-man teams, each of which would attempt to seize control of a commercial aircraft either shortly after takeoff or shortly before landing at a chosen airport.

This will disappoint my mom, but I and my wife don't want kids......EVER.
Not a disappointment....parenthood isn't for everybody.
Besides, I have three spares left to give me my only reason for living..... (you know I am only joking).... You guys are great, and I know that you both will be happy no matter what your choice is regarding having children. Your Dad and I will always be there for you regardless......but now you can't move away....that's the trade off...

Thinking Too Much About Death
by Undecided inrecently i have been seeing too much that reminds me of how i must face death in the not too distant future.
everytime i look at a movie on tv most of the actors that i knew when i was young are dead.
i was looking at some pictures that my mother left me when she died and most of the people i see are dead, cousins, uncles, aunts, old jw people that i knew growing up.

Hi Ken,
Try not to think about it too much, Ken....Death is something that we have no control over, even with all of our great advances in science, death is always the inevitable end for all of us. I think of it as an end to a long journey....and hopefully along the way you will have peaceful and soothing memories to help when you reach that end.
I watched my Mom and Dad die of cancer a couple of years ago, it was a very sad year. I took care of my Dad at the very end, and would not have had it any other way. Don't worry about being a burden to your kids....they do not see it that way. Parents give life and love to their children as they grow, and the children give back that love when their parents are leaving them in death. I just wish that my Dad would have let me take care of him sooner....he was a very independent, stubborn man, I would have loved to have had more time to make more memories before he died.
If you are worried about financial burdens...there are programs out there to make it easier on the children of elderly and ill parents....maybe if you look these up in your area long before you or your children need them, it will settle your mind a bit about being a burden to them.
Take care of your health, and look both ways when crossing the street...., and I bet you live to be 100 just like Mr. Hope! Take care.

Whoa...expatbrit...if I am ever on a plane...I hope that you are sitting on it next to me!
I don't understand the US federal government at all! Here is another airline terror threat and the feds are pulling the armed marshals from the planes because of how much it costs to keep them in motels in between flights! Tell that to the families of the next hijacked plane....." I am sorry Mrs. Victim but your husband died a horrible death because we needed to funnel the money toward the next Whitehouse Christmas Party!" What is more important right now than protecting the airlines from future terrorist attacks?
I have a brother who flies frequently for business, and I worry about these terror warnings, even if he does not. He always says that if something is going to happen, then it will, he can't stop it so why worry about it. I am glad he doesn't worry, but I do.
This threat, like the others, is coming from a captured al queda terrorist. Just how valid are these threats? If I was a terrorist held by the feds, what could I gain by cooperating with them and exposing my groups plans to hurt my enemy? I just don't get it.......are they using truth serum or something?

they made her wait one solid year before they "allowed" her to join their twisted ranks again.
and she called here at 11:30 at night probably after going out and celebrating it after the meeting to tell her son about it.

I heard my husband say "Thats good to hear Sister F...." but he was reserved about it. He doesnt speak to her much which I find odd it being his mother and all.
Does your husband call his mother Sister____? That is kind of odd. Maybe I just didn't understand, wouldn't be the first time.
Sorry that they are getting to your kids. It is hard enough for you to handle this all yourself, let alone them brainwashing your kids.....When kids are involved, the issue gets really emotional.....I know from personal experience. I hope that you can bring your kids up to think for themselves....to give them opportunities out there in the world that they wouldn't have as JW's. Maybe you could insist, as their mother, to have them join groups and clubs at school to give them access to outside views and friends. This could be a way to show them that all "worldly" people aren't "bad association" deserving of execution by God.

by RoadDoctor inis it me or do others get absolutely sickened by the disgusting interviews given during circuit and district assemblies?
i mean, come on, how much more rehearsed are these little skits?
i always hated hearing everyone's "out of this world" field service experiences.

I personally don't know how I made it through those last few assemblies I attended. My faith was almost non-existent, and everything that came down from the platform really grained on my nerves. In the morning, all that sustained me was the thought of lunch, and in the afternoon all that got me through was knowing that it would all soon be over!
The DO said non-witnesses were corpses and that JWs kissing them were kissing corpses. Nice thing for those sisters and brothers out in the audience who became JWs and their spouses did not.
OMG! If I heard this statement as a study coming for the first time to an assembly, I would run as fast as I could in the other direction!...kissing corpses!!!....just amazing!
I knew plenty of JW teenagers who were the friends of my kids. These were just teenagers like any other teenagers who want to be free to explore and investigate the big world out there. And, being JW teenagers they have so much more to worry about.....service hours, meeting parts, trying to live up to the idea of the perfect JW teenager, something that no one is able to do.....That is why so many teenagers grow up and leave the organization, they can never live up to what is expected of them...and as adults they refuse to be told what to think and believe anymore. These same JW teenagers turned adults are the societies worst enemy. They not only reject the religion they grew up with, but will tell many others of the organziation's hurtful policies toward their members, and this is the WT's worst nightmare.....less recruits....less money.

JW Children and Immunizations
by LDH inwell the not-so-little baby (19 mos) got his next round of shots last night, 5 in all.
he was rightfully indignant, and let the nurse know it.. i mentioned it to my dad in passing, and he was saying that another family member doesn't allow any immunizations of their child.. this person is a df'd-jw hater, and yet the some of the brainwashing has hung on.
now, all 3 of us children are immunized, but i can't discount the brainwashing that the medical establishment has taken at the hands of the wbts.

As a JW, I had all my four kids immunized. And, all my JW friends had their kids immunized. There was never any discussion about foregoing the shots because of religious reasons..... The one exception was a friend who didn't let her kids have the "P" part of the DPT shot because a child we knew had the shot and had a seizures afterward with some brain damage as a result.

Shunning your Children

when a young jw teen ( 13-16) disassociates themselves, or is disfellowshipped, will the parents kick them out of the house?

That is where I am at this point, missy. I am neither DA'd or DF'd, and I have not been to a meeting in about a year and a half. I still meet witnesses I know from time to time in our community, and they still talk to me. I have noticed that this "talk" has been a bit strained lately, and I wonder how much longer I can hold on to my "inactive status" without being disassociated by the elders. There have been those on this board who have refused to meet with the elders when they asked them to a JC meeting, and they have been disassociated by them regardless of their absence.I still have family who are JW's, and I do not wish to make life difficult for them. In the end, the elders will do as they please, I suppose, and I will have to deal with that when it comes.
My husband and I were told, in so many words, to shun one of our family members. We refused, and left the organization instead.
Reading all those here who are victims of JW shunning, just makes me want to cry.
