Rethinking "this world", "the world", and "worldly"
by Fernando inif all religion is a snare and a racket as per judge rutherford, then has religion maybe lied to us on this score too?.
could jesus have meant: "if you belonged to the (religious) world, it would love you as its own.
as it is, you do not belong to the (religious) world, but i have chosen you out of the (religious) world.

Interesting view and does make sense as those who wanted to kill Jesus were primarily the Jews. The Romans even wanted to release Jesus but the Jews chose Barabbas instead. -

I downloaded the Study into the Scriptures part 4 (1879) to read about the idea Russell et al had around the Faithful and prudent slave. And I also download the Bible Teachers Manual dated 1909, In the latter one, it has a list of all parables found in the T, and the MEAT in DUE SEASON (or now called the Faithful and prudent / wise slave) verses in Matt. 24 and Luke 12 are in that list. In other words, considered a parable. I have not found an article yet where this suddenly changed to a prophecy.
I herewith show what I shared on another site:
The original view of the Faithful and prudent servant, as described in Studies into the Scriptures, part 4, originally published in 1879 and reprinted during 1916-1918 reads as follows (taken from the 1879 version and bear in mind that it was believed that Jesus would have returned in 1874 and that in 1909 it was still considered a parable):
Who then is the faithful and prudent servant, whom his Master has placed over his household to give them food in due season. Happy that servant whom his Master, on coming, shall find thus employed ! Indeed I say to you that he will appoint him over all his stores of provisions."
-Matt. 24 : 45-5 I ; Luke I 2:42-46.
The intimation here seems to be, that at the particular time indicated by the prophecy,-namely, during the Lord's presence, and at the time of the gathering of the elea--our Lord, the great Servant of his people, will make choice of
one channel for dispensing the meat in due season, though other channels or "fellow-servants" will be used in bringing the food to the " household." But the servant is merely a steward, and liable to be removed at any moment, should
he fail to fully and duly acknowledge in every particular, the Master,-the great Servant of God, and his people,- " the Messenger of the Covenant,"-Christ. Faithfulness on the part of said steward (both to the
#'Master and to "his fellow-servants " and " the household") will be rewarded by his continuance as steward;- so long as he serves faithfully, he may continue, and may serve the household of faith with things new and old,-
meat in due season-to the end ; bringing forth all the precious things of divine provision. But if unfaithful he will be deposed entirely and put into outer darkness, while presumably another would take the place, subject to the
same conditions.
To our understanding this would not imply that "that servant" or steward, used as a channel for the circulation of the " meat in due season," would be the originator of that meat, nor inspired, nor infallible. Quite to the contrary,
we may be sure that whoever the Lord will so use, as a truth-distributing agent, will be very humble and unassuming, as well as very zealous for the Master's glory; so that he would not think of claiming authorship or ownership
of the truth, but would merely dispense it zealously, as his Master's gift, to his Master's "servants" and household. "
Any other spirit and course would surely work a change of steward. This is detailed by our Lord as follows :- " But if that servant shall [become wicked, and [losing faith] say in his heart, My Master de ? ays his coming; and shall smite his fellow-servants, and eat and drink with the intemperate [of their false doctrines], the Master of that servant will be present in a day that he looketh not for, and in an hour that he is not aware of, and.shall cut him off [from being his servant] and will appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."-Matt. 24 :48-5 I.
WHen I read it, it seems a bit strange to say the the Lord will make choice of ONE channel and to say also that though other channels or "fellow-servants" will be used. The way I read the whole view, is that the Lord can make use of various stewards as long as they are faithful and prudent. If they are no longer fit for that purpose, they will be removed, no longer used.
There is no particular appointment, hence no dates mentioned. It is the Lord who uses, and can use various sources as a channel. -

Has anyone heard any Watchtower PR spin or censorship advisory announcement at the kingdom hall regarding the child abuse story on NPR?
by Island Man ini remember some years ago when barbara did an expose of the child abuse issue on one of the networks, watchtower used the elders to inform the congregations not to view the program that was to be aired.
.
after this recent expose on npr, has there been any official watchtower release read as an announcement at the kingdom hall?.

The good things is that the broadcast has been picked up by other newspapers as well. Unfortunately only in the US, not in Europe. -

Make A Wish Trip to JW.ORG
by konceptual99 ina sick little girl goes to ny to meet caleb and sophia for her make a wish trip.. http://www.kmph.com/category/170789/video-landing-page?clipid=11142038&autostart=true.
i don't want to make too much comment as there is an innocent and poorly young girl at the heart of this but i do have to wonder what the purpose of the parents courting the media's attention over this really was..

Feel sorry for this and all little ones suffering life threatening deceases.Agree that wearing the JW logo was ugly. Also strange to hear the father is so happy and thankful to live in California and with the staff and quality of the hospital and stanford university while his organisation is SO AGAINST higher education. Hypocritical I might say.
Why make use of s secular organisation to fulfil a wish from a sick child in your congregation? Why not paid and arranged for by the organisation? Or the congregation.
If the child is happy, I am fine but just for the child.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses really practice charity and help the needy in war ravaged areas in third-world countries?
by JWCart inthe pusher i have told a young man today that jehovah's witnesses are one of the biggest helpers with hunger reliefs and bringing solar stoves to west africa and the watchtower has donated vast resources to help ebola victims by providing hundreds of "clean up stations" plus jehovah's witnesses are sending millions of dollars in medical aid, is this true?.
are jehovah witnesses with backing from the watchtower helping eliminate illiterate children like the catholic church is doing in uganda and kenya by housing 5 to 13 year old kids and proving two meals, a roof over their head and education up to 15 years giving them a edge, so they don't end up in the sex trade, as a jw-cart the pride swelled up in my heart knowing how generous our organization is with the poor.

The JW's donate time to tell people of a real solution. No, not food, medicines or other things one might be needed urgently. No, their donations are everlasting...oK, not now but in the really near future.....
Unfortunately their reputation is less than good on this. Even with the Emergency Relief Fund it is entirely unclear how much is actually spent, by whom, to whom, when, for how long etc.

Judge JF Rutherford's strong views on religion
by Fernando infrom time to time i read or search through two books written by the "judge" on religion.. one is titled "religion" (1940), and the other "enemies" (1937).. in these books it is clear that the terms "true religion" and "false religion" were foreign to the "judge" and later inventions by watchtower vice president and general counsel hayden c. covington in the early 1950s.. in the book "religion" on page 18, paragraph 2: "the scriptures show that organized religion originated with the devil, who created and brought into action religion for the very purpose of turning mankind away from god.".
for me the watchtower is a prime example of the "christless christianity" phenomenon..

You can never "win" the discussion. The CO is a devout JW and will not see nor accept any serious accusation against the organisation. He will likely accept that the people are imperfect, even those in the gb. etc but that there is only one organisation to acquire salvation. And then he will surely ask: Or do you think salvation can be found outside Jehovah's organisation" .I recommend not even start the discussion to prove they are wrong and you are right.
I would say: who died for me? Jesus. Who should I put faith in for eternal life? Jesus. Who is my judge? Jesus. Hence, who should I follow or obey Jesus.
Bye CO.
