  have you noticed how the org, and individuals are more concerned about the actual event such as the international conventions, rather than the content of the program?.

  i often shake my figurative head (ok, literal one too!

  ), as i see the all the hype being generated by the act of attending, and think that most are not actually interested in the stuff that will be presented, but are more concerned about simply being there or getting there..... and, they are more focussed on the activity of a campaign, such as a tract work, or invitation hand out, rather than the actual content of the material.. .

  Re: OP, isn't that true of most activities religious or secular?

  The anticipation and preparation generally out weighs the event unless it has entertainment value.

  Think about holidays: the prepping and the anticipation usually over shadows the content.

  Seriously, how many of us really went for the information?

  We used the conventions as an excuse for a vacation. I anticipated the new releases and the dramas. Also any "new light". I figured most of the main talks would be made into articles

  anyway.

  Hey, JWs don't get much excitement or variety in their lives, why begrudge the little they get.

  i'm a freelance writer, and am currently writing a story on the jehovah's witnesses church for a melbourne magazine.

  i've spoken with an elder/spokesperson of a melbourne jw church, who explained the official positions of the church at length, but i'm really interested in getting more of a sense of the day to day experiences of jws, both current and former.

  hello there i am new to the faith and have been studying for about a month.

  i am very excited and hungry for the truth and have not missed a meeting or study since the memorial.

  we do about 2 bible studies a week.

  for people who have a paralyzing fear of dying, to where it seems like it's this horrible, stalking monster, jwism is a powerful sedative.. but really, the idea of living forever, in human form, is nonsense.

  living forever isn't about living forever, it's about not dying.. death is natural.

  it can be painful, sudden, or both.

  just saying , my 2 cents worth .

  if they have an agenda it will be revealed in a short time , let them play it out .. however , some genuine first posters can be put off by somebody jumping the gun and attacking them .. please give the first posters time to get to know this site.. smiddy.

  Lois I agree. But a funny thing seems to happen to some of those zealous folks. Before too long they start to wake up and realize the pat answers they used to spout out doesn't make sense anymore.

  When I started reading the posts I realized there were things I didn't know I didn't know.

  I paced myself and choose topics I felt I could handle.

  Those posts got me to think and challenged what I thought I knew.

  I think some on here really believe the pat answers they give.

  Thanks for the link. You were very fair. Could you tell me what was one of the most surprising things you learned About the witnesses and the ex- witnesses?

  Having been born in I haven't had a chance to get an objective view of the religion.

  maybe I am reading too much

  while i was reading a book ( picture emclosed ) some toughts came up in my mind.

  brothers in the usa are not allowed to have a moustache unlesse it concerns coloured brothers but white brothers are allowed to have a beard if they are bold ( i read it on this forum ) so i am very sorry for the coloured brothers who want a beard, no way!.

  in france, brothers are allowed to have a beard and in scandinavia " longer " hair ( i would like to advise " worlds apart " a very interesting movie about shunning ).. so if a french, coloured brother moves to scandinavia and let his hair grow and then .

  Lol. Be sure to view the picture! Roberto if that is all that keeps you awake at night, you are indeed fortunate. Some cannot get hair to grow at all. Maybe they are trying to cut down on hair and mustache envy.

  The grass is not always greener

  i have posted only a couple of times and remain a little elusive.

  it is not because i dont want to mingle but more when i want to post on a little of my story, the words i want to write seem to mass with events and moments that are so overwhelming i cannot function anymore.

  i get so writing my post before my heart seems to shudder, i get a pain in my core that removes any words i want to write, and at this point i log off........ i am 31 and it seems like yesterday i was among my "best friends" in the congregation, tim, steve, and mark.
