Social media strategy to expose JW molestation issues
by JimmyPage inthere are a lot of jws who will never hear about the molestation issues the wt has because all their friends on social media are fellow cult members.. what i'm going to attempt is to create a profile for an alter ego.
it will have a profile pic and banner that says "jw.org" or some other pro-jw nonsense.. then i will attempt to befriend a jw.
when one bites and accepts me the others will fall like dominoes and also accept my friendship.. at first i will post pro-jw things that will get me "likes", subscribers, and promotions in their news feed.. then i will lower the boom by posting the recent news video from the texas molestation story.

The comments you got are exactly what I would expect from someone who didn't read the articles about it. They're saying that it's just one guy who raped some kids (as if that's no big deal in itself) but if you read the article, it shows that this is a systemic problem.
Though, I can say without a doubt that if you did cause any to doubt, they sure as hell won't proclaim their doubts on facebook. No one wants to deal with a visit from some elders because they had what they hoped where momentary doubts. Hopefully you've done some good!

Actually I would LOVE to see the WT publish 'untrue rumors', does there even exist an untrue rumor about them? All the true facts are so powerful, I can't think of a lie that could possibly do more damage.
Honestly, I sometimes think their complete hipocisy and lack of integrity works in their favor. Typically, any doubting JW starts out thinking that they're all well-meaning people that might just have gotten some things wrong here and there. When such a JW does a little independant research and sees nothing but "JWs joined the UN!" "JWs protect child molesters!" "JWs misquote/lie in their publications!" "Rutherford wrote a letter of support to hitler!" - When you think there's just a little wrong with the religion, and see all that you are shocked back into line thinking that it's not even worth the time to research online because it's all just a bunch of appostate lies.

If he asks that Jehovah’sWitnesses not visit him again, you can assure him that his wishes will be honored.
footnote - his wishes will be honored for a year, after which time some elders will come by and bug him to make sure he still has no interest in joining a cult. As it turns out, it would probably be a year between visits normally, so you might just assure him that his request will in no way change the frequency of the visits, just who is doing the visiting.

Anthony Morris - AP's in August, 900%, increase, yet decrease in BS's
by berrygerry inthe only video that i've found of tomo is 39:00 minutes long - the ending is missing.. various posts mentioned highlights of the tremendous witness in august, with a 900% increase in ap's, as well as some other magnificent accomplishment that i cannot locate.. then i painfully listened to the video to verify, and at about 38:00, tomo bemoans the downward trend in bible studies.. the best august of all-time, yet downward trend.. looks like the toilet bowl is swirling.. .

In our congregation, there were 40-something APs in August, and at least 1/3 did not get their 30 hours, a few got less than half way there.
There where two elders that I overheard talking about it, and both stated that they had come up 10 hours short. I suspect this is widely the case.

I hope a major news network picks this up. As long as it stays on LGBT websites JDubs will ignore it.
Even if they do, it will do nothing to JWs. It will just be proof that this system has just kept deteriorating and they're trying to force their views on the JWs and force them to accept gays in spite of the bible's statements against them. Just more fuel to the persecution complex fire.

"It's the intent that counts and not the result."
by donny in"it's the intent that counts not the result.".
i have been out of the jw organization for some 22 years now and i sometimes get a reminding jolt out the hoops that some will jump through to make their religion make sense to them.
the first line in this post is what a jw on the street here in salinas told me on saturday when trying to justify the society's history of false prophecies.

the Witnesses were trying to keep alert and stay on the watch versus being asleep at the wheel like the rest of the churches.
Punk of nice, I am still learning how to think critically. could you explain your post and how the hi lighted part is a logical fallacy....?
I'll try my hand at this - there's two problems with this statement. The first, to use a term often heard in the TV lawyer dramas, is that it assumes facts not in evidence. In other words, what evidence is there that the rest of the churches where asleep at the wheel, while the JWs where not? Sure, the JWs where proclaiming the end is nigh, and where thus very alert to the potential comming of the end, but the other churches where in it for the long-haul and turned out to be correct that the end was not so near. Which one was asleep at the wheel?
Additionally, because of the stance JWs take on holidays such as christmas and easter, this falls into the category of special pleading fallacy. The argument for the early JWs is that their intent was to serve god faithfully and zealously and that excuses them from having prophesied falsly (i.e. intent is more important than the truth of the matter). If you then ask why christians are to be condemned for celebrating christmas - an act that they do with the intent of serving god faithfully and zealously, they say because the holiday's origins are pagan and the date isn't even Jesus' birthday. (i.e. the truth of the matter is more important than the intent)
This is a special pleading fallacy because there is a distinction made (in one case it is the intent that matters, in the other case it is the truth that matters) but there is no attempt made to justify why this distinction exists.

He began the talk saying he was going to back it up with scripture. That is why I wondered exactly what scripture!
Liars gonna lie.
He also began by saying he'd back things up with quotes from the publications so if you have a problem with it, take it up with God. So, the publications are therefore the word of god and on equal footing with the bible. Actually, they're more important than the bible - the bible is filled with "old light."

I love how the WTS uses statistics:
900% increase in APs for August!- It must be Jehovah's Blessing (TM)
Bible studies are down - You lazy bastards need to get off your asses and work harder!
Not to mention the fact that a large portion of the APs for august where probably appointed men who were heavily pressured into doing it, and didn't make their time. They give the number that signed up, but I'd love to see how many actually made the measly 30 hours.
