i have a genuine question for the jw apologist.

.

what is your scriptural justification for your unquestioning obedience to the governing body and your unwillingness to question their intepretation of scripture?.

That 2nd CO meeting during their visit is being done away with after the 1st of next year anyway, so you will have no need to prepare for another!

Congregation By Laws?

perhaps this was already discussed in another thread, if so i apologize in advance; but i was visiting some family several months back and we get into a conversation about their local congregation.

one of my family members helps with some of the book keeping in that congregation.

after a while he started talking about how the elders received some wierd letter from the society stating something to the effect that the congregation must put together or enforcing something for "corporate by laws" or "congregation by laws" - i'm not sure which.

"Page 3, Article XI - DISSOLUTION

Upon dissolution of the Congregation, after paying or adequately providing for debts and obligations of the Congregation, the remaining assets shall be distributed to Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc."

That is the line that means owned by WTBS.

Dispurse the members to other halls then disolve the non-profit religious corp, sell the property and monies go to WTS.

Local KH with 85 pubs (down from 102)

Passed resolution last night to commit to KHF expence of $500.00 per month. In the past only 50 - 100 was donated monthly.

This was based on slips of paper turned in annomosly for the last two weeks.

KH was remodled this year and completely paid for in advance. This KH was also built with local money (no WTS loans) in 1965 so has never had a loan payment. Have been under pressure in the past to buy property and build new but BOE has always been able to avoid this.

IMHO the pubs have bit off more than they can chew but only time will tell.

i occasionally pop through here to catch up on the latest, but this time i'm going to pop my own post on here.. some of you internet oldsters may even remember this.

my first experience on the internet regarding discussions about jehovah's witnesses and the watchtower took place on a now-obscure usenet group, before i eventually stumbled across hourglass2.. during those days, there was a poster who went by the name "prominent bethelite," an otherwise anonymous individual whom i remember most for an extensive, exhaustive compilation of date-oriented remarks, predictions, and expectations by the watchtower organization down through the decades of its history.. it became known as "the list" and it's definitely lengthy... but a fascination look at the abundance of errant statements made through the watchtower's history.. if you're curious, it's been available for a long time on hourglass2's site, and can be seen using the link provided below.. the list, compiled by prominent bethelite (1999).

Today's wt study! Notice the faults?

did we all notice the way in which this weeks wt study (how to maintain a positive viewpoint) was all about keeping the flock positive even if they feel they are not doing enough in 'service'?.

the irony is that the very reason they feel stressed or worthless is because of the pressures the org puts on them to perform!!!.

QFR August 15, 2014 - Resurrection and Marriage

the article addressed luke 20:34-36 and now they finally admit jesus could have been referring to the heavenly resurrection.

they said "put simply, the answer is that we cannot say" which is surprising because they have something to say about everything.

perhaps all the old people who are waiting the new world as widow and widowers want to know if they have a chance to be reunited with their dead loved one.

Just reciently looking at another thread on this but can't remember where. One poster said Jesus was avoiding a loaded question from the Saducees in the contex of levitical/brother in-law marriage. If ressurected to everlasting life/imortality then this mosiac law is not needed since they would be like angles...(never dying) therefore the reason for Jesus answer. Makes sense, of course that dosen't automaticly make it true... just saying.

According to the good book... Jah only gives us the strength to endure what ever comes our way and the guidelines to minimize self-infliction (shooting ourselves in the foot). After that it is a free for all (time an unseen occurances) with S in charge. HE dosen't tamper with the wheather so more bibles can be printed while 20 some JWs are swept out to sea huddling in thier KH. One may not know what to belive exactly but common sense can rule out most senerios belived buy the gullable. Where the heck is spell check when you need it!
