Could I have turkey and the trimmings on that day and call it "family worship night?" It all boils down to if they allow it they might lose some control.

I think it is bullshit and no loving God would ever test "His friend" like that. Just another wacked out story in the Bible.
He sacrificed his own son... Man creating God in his image?

3 JWs injured whilst Cart Witnessing
by Listener inhttps://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/wa/a/25697590/three-injured-as-car-hits-park-bench/.
an elderly driver crashed into a park bench in mandurah, western australia today where 3 jws were sitting.
they had set up their jw cart and their literature was also strewn across the ground.. one of the jws was seriously injured with head injuries.. what a freak accident this is.. .

Being that WT's official position is that JWs maning these carts are 'independent operators' doing a "personal ministry" for themselves, not the Corp., Big J has no obligation to look after them.
No workmans comp case or health insurance? Just struck down in the line of duty.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: "Was Jesus a person of FAITH?"
by Terry inyou are probably wondering if i've lost my mind with a question like this~!.
there is a method to my madness, however.. ________________________.
here is where this query originated; follow closely and comment.

Faith and Hope both can be based on evidence or fact just as easily as fantasy.
I have faith in my truck because it has never let me down in the past. I hope it continues to do so.
As far as Jesus is concern... who knows?

Any elders out there? How to Local needs talks work?
by Letts Party inso a local needs talk was lovingly given at our hall last week that i'm positive targeted me specifically.
it had to do with missing meetings for work.
they even had a demo on what we should do if our boss asks us to stay overtime on a meeting night (basically say "no" and risk losing your great job which you have no desire whatsoever to lose)... so i'm aware that there's a sort of protocol the elders follow when someone in the hall needs to work on something.

Local needs and marking talks are two completely different things.
Local needs is not given because one person in the cong has a problem. It is given when a small group is involved in something not necessarily wrong but could become an issue. Marking can and usually is directed at one individual who's conduct is borderline judicial or maybe they are an unbaptized pub and a judicial can't be invoked.
We have had a recent local needs about wine tasting and driving. A small group in the cong does this for fun. Not wrong but could cause a DUI.
Placing work ahead of meetings might be a problem with several in your cong, therefore the local needs. Local needs is usually benign since it usually is scheduled once per month in the KM.
The above being said, it is still something that can be used to commend the cong or be abused by the BOE for wrong purposes.

How could you justify that God killed all firstborn children in Egypt?
by Mr Fool inwas it necessary for god to kill all innocent firstborn children?
no other way out for the almighty god?.

So why did these children die for the sins of their fathers?
(Ezekiel 18:20) 20 The soul that is sinning—it itself will die. A son himself will bear nothing because of the error of the father, and a father himself will bear nothing because of the error of the son. . . .
(2 Chronicles 25:4) . . .And their sons he did not put to death, but [did] according to what is written in the law, in the book of Moses, that Jehovah commanded, saying: “Fathers should not die for sons, neither should sons themselves die for fathers; but it is each one for his own sin that they should die.”
Biblical evidence of new-lite principle.

The Pyramids how old after all, and what are they all about????
by Crazyguy inhas anyone here done any serious research on the pyramids of egypt and others???
it has been said that these objects were roughly made around 2500-3000 bce (the 3 at giza).
other people have stated they are much older.

This subject has always facinated me. The pyramids at the very least pre-date the date put forth by WTS for the building of the tower of bable. I do not trust the Egyptologist version of the history of the pyramids. They say they are tombs for the pharos even though no mummies have ever been found in them. The cutting of the stones especially the outside ones for me are not the real issue but rather the transportating of them due to their weight. Especially the massive granite ones in the kings chamber. Megolithic sites are all over the earth. Very impressive ones in Peru and Turkey and the dating of them goes way back, 10k - 20k.

A number of recent studies suggest that harsh corporal punishment permanently damages the gray matter in children, especially those in the 5 - 9 year age group.
wow... I could have been a genius...
