  I disfellowshipped my parents this week..

  i just wrote them a mail, telling them to not contact me any more under any circumstances, illness or death (79 and 83 years old).

  unless they leave the cult and would apologize for our f*'.ed-up upbringing which ruined our whole life.

  Harsh... I too was raised JW. I am 60 now. I left a few years ago , on my own accord and am doing great.

  I would never be so harsh with my 85 year old mother for staying in.

  Why did the org "forgive" KH mortgages?

  i know this has been discussed, but i think it's good that topics like this get brought back up from time to time for the sake of newbies and lurkers, plus, i have a question (related at end of post).. the org brags about "forgiving" kh mortgages as if it's so loving and giving.

  i put the word in quotation marks because most of us realize it wasn't forgiving anything.

  the new arrangement should actually bring it far more money.. for example, suppose there are twenty congregations total.

  big accident at Warwick construction site

  the wt society is fond of using the tilt-up method of construction where a network of rebar is made on the ground, concrete poured on it and allowed to cure, then the whole thing is tilted up and voila' you've got yourself a massive big-ass wall ready made.

  these walls for several stories-high buildings are indeed massive and weighty so you need a heavy-duty crane to raise into position.. i just heard from an eye-witness ldc volunteer that while there a few weeks ago they had an enormous accident.

  the crane tilted and crashed, the only one hurt was its operator.

  So sad to hear about anyone being hurt on a job site. The Society does own cranes. Their operators a very skilled.

  Too bad though so many are there working for free. They feel it is a privilege to be there. I did.... Oh well

  I am now out and glad to be. However, I do not regret being born in to JWs for most of my life. Brought my good values , became a better speaker and lost my fear of approaching people.

  Also I grew up without racial prejudice.

  Many times. I recall a sister in service tell the group that she had prayed for a car and God had found her one. I asked how she will feel when is wears out or breaks down. I said if God gave someone a car wouldn't it never break or wear out?

  Many of us dropped everything and went when we were called. Me and my crew worked on 53 Kingdom Halls .

  Numerous times we spent two weeks or more when asked and flew to New York. On on trip in 2005 we put our personal work on hold and went to Brooklyn . We were assigned to build with steel studs and plastic sheeting, mock up apartments in an empty area so the Bethelites could get a better idea of what their new rooms would look like once their building was remodeled. In times past, many who "bid" on their future room were disappointed once the rooms were finally completed. This way they could walk through all the floor plans.

  Even then I thought what a waist of my time. I had stressed over putting work on hold as well as spending time away from my family to help picky, un appreciate Bethel workers be able to imagine their new home.

  And now they are selling all the properties for massive profits.

  WTF.... I WANT A REFUND!!! Just kidin! Keep my time... I am so happy to be out.

  How Come the Watchtower does not admit "We Don't Know Anything About Bible Prophecy" and come clean?

  so many of us have been caught up in the negative effects this religion placed over our lives and those who we love very much.

  i am the first one to tell my kids "i don't know s&^^ about this or that subject", if the watchtower is truly our brother or spiritual mother why don't they tell us the following questions we all have asked them?.

  1. we screwed up about 1914 and "life is short, go live your life to the fullest while maintaining justice and morality, don't hurt your fellow man by making his life screwed up!.

  Funny to see this post. I just spent my day off walking around all the buildings in Brooklyn Heights I worked on thinking the same thing. As I looked up at the huge blue .ORG sign hanging top of the Squib building. I recalled just a few years ago when the GB said not to use a computer print out of scriptures during meetings. God must have changed his mind and bought stock in Apple.

  Or remember when social media was warned to be evil. I just looked at all the .ORG Facebook pages.

  Maybe God or the treasury department of the society invested in their IPO.

  I do hope at least some who are still in will start looking at all the changes in the past 5 years and see that this religion is run by men, fairly well organized men, and not God. As old WT leaders die off and are replaced with younger computer smart kids, new rules come into play. Just like any other corperation.
