  The Gay Elder

  i just heard from back home (puerto rico), about this elder i know (i was good friends with his daughter), that just got df'd for homosexuality.

  this is how the story goes:

  he was an elder for over 20 years and he even claimed to be of the "annointed class'.

  Never mind Gay Elders. We had two pioneer brothers in the congregation who turned out to be gay. They were from two JW families, fathers Elders. Brought up in the truth etc etc. They were about 14/15 when I first met them. They became full time pioneers when they left school, usual part time jobs etc. Became Min Servants at 20. Always the ones to do items on field service at meetings. Always seemed to be out on the ministry together.

  Anyway to cut a long story short. I met one of them, in a restaurant, about a year ago. I had heard they had both left the JW's. Thats when he told me why. They both decided that they couldn't keep the pretense up anymore. Seems they had been "gay lovers" since they were 16. So as not to hurt family, they had decided to keep it secret. By throwing themselves into the ministry they had diverted people away from why they were always together. Turned out that times when they were thought to be knocking on doors, they were at one or the other house in bed together. They kept this pretense going for about ten years. Gave up pioneering, got full time jobs, a place of their own away from the area, and moved in together. Was there uproar in congregation, were they DF'd etc. No! Because fathers both senior Elders, the CO was a relative and no one said a word about it. He told me a few other things that went on as well not only in the congregation, but in the local area, and circuit. He said many young brothers are into the "gay scene" he has seen them at gay clubs and bars.

  I must have looked dumbfounded with everything he was telling. He said "So you see the JW's are not the "clean and spotless" lot you thought they were."

  Not that I did, but it certainly revealed to me another side of the WT.

  The reason I asked the question.

  If they claim that the 144,000 were chosen by 1935. Then how can anyone claim to be annointed after that date.

  What is the WT view on those who have claimed to be of the annointed these days?

  a neighbour of mine had jw's call.

  they told her that jesus was not the archangel michael!!

  I believe there was something in a recent WT magazine saying Jesus was "in a sense" an angel.

  Anyone know about this, or are the JW's who called on my neighbour not quite telling the truth.

  How many went to heaven in the first century?

  if william josephus estimated that by the end of the first century, there were about 1,000,000 christians, and paul wrote that the good news .

  had been preached "in under all creation", then why did john say in revelation that only 144,000 would go to heaven?.

  why were those who numbered more than 144,000 christians prior to john's revelation in 96ad not informed that there hope was invalid?

  There is a difference of opinion on how many Christians there were in first century. Figures vary from 50,000 to 2.5 million. There is no way of really knowing the number.

  According to the Watchtower organisation the full number of 144,000 was not completed until 1935. So figure that out from all the millions of Christians there had been up until that date. The thousands who died through persecution in the first and second centuries would cover 144,000 many times over.

  PS. Can you give reference were William Josephus says there was 1 million Christians in first century.

  Genesis 6:1-2

  in genesis 6:1-2 it speaks of how angels began noticing the daughters of men, came down to earth, took them as wives and had sexual relations with them.

  however, if angels are sexless how come some of them didn't notice the handsome males on the earth and want to change themselves into females to have sex with them?

  if an angel is truly sexless and it wants to try some human hanky panky, surely it wouldn't matter which sex it became?.

  can anyone direct me to information about the number of christians there were in from the first century onwards.. jw's claim about the 144,000 doesn't seem to fit with the number of christians there were in those early days.

  i seem to recall a case where a jw was discovered to have been wanted for murder in another state and the elders of the congregation wrote to brooklyn asking what to do.

  i believe theres a copy of the reply from brooklyn.. does anyone know where i can find it.

  1. Publications discourage marriage on the basis that it is better to spend time in the ministry. The assertion that there is not much time left is emphasized in this context.
  
  2. Publications and statements continually state that the end is very near and link this with how we should act and think.
  
  3. Statements are made about how difficult it will be for those with children to live through Armageddon.
  
  4. Pejoratives are used to mark those on the outside and to contrast them with those within the faith, discouraging people from associating with those not in the truth.
