it is a milestone convention like Cedar Point, Ohio and that after this, nothing will be the same again.
This has been said about every convention for the last 5 years or so. (andprobably for every convention since Cedar Point)
I recall when they had the "Deliverance at Hand!" conventions, a couple of years ago. They were coming away from those saying how highly important they were. I recall hearing stories of JW sisters coming away from those conventions saying how they must get their unbelieving husbands in, because Armageddon would here by the end of the year.
How many times have you been to a District Convention and heard the words "This will be the last convention before Aramgeddon."
Same old, same old

2009 "Keep On The Watch" is a milestone convention like Cedar Point- not!
by JimmyPage inmy dad hasn't been to the convention yet but he is very excited to go.
he has been told by a friend of his who went that it is a milestone convention like cedar point, ohio and that after this, nothing will be the same again.. from what i know he is in for a disappointment.
i think they could safely call this year's assembly theme "much ado about nothing"!.

Topics for discussion with JWs - part 3: Homosexual animals...
by Albert Einstein ingod hates homosexuality very very much ... right?.
being wicked homosexual ... you are to be destroyed in armageddon ... right?.
people were created by god as heterosexual, but some are today homosexual as a result of imperfection - punishment for disobedience of adam a eve..... but why there is so much homosexuality among god created animals?
-
aniron
Do the animals know they are committing a homosexual act?
Are they doing it just for pleasure?
Or are they driven by the urge to mate, with no female available do they go for the nearest other one, even if its male.
Are they exclusively homosexual or do they mate with females, thus making them Bisexual.
Are there any Lesbian animals?

by allelsefails in70 years of captivity?.
i myself have always believed that when archaeology disagreed with the bible the bible must be right.
that is how i dismissed the idea that jerusalem was destroyed in 586/587 bce.

How can someone who calls themselves "Scholar" believe in such nonsence against all the evidence.
Oops sorry forgot as a JW he is not allowed to think or believe anything that does not appear in some Watchtower publication. Publication incidentally written by people who have a thing against education. Why? Because they know that getting an education would expose there nonsense about 607.

The following is from Elihu Books, founded by Greg Staffford , may give you an idea of his thinking.
The history and purpose of Elihu Books is in many ways the history and purpose of Greg Stafford, a Christian Witness of Jah, one of Jehovah’s Witnesses who rejects teachings and traditions of men where these contradict what for good reasons can be shown to be from the biblical God Jehovah, or Jah (Psalm 68:4; Isaiah 12:2; Revelation 19:1, 3, 4, 6). Elihu Books was founded by Stafford in 1997 to publish information about Jehovah God, his Son Jesus Christ, and those who bear witness to the truth concerning them. In 1997, and even before his baptism in 1990, Stafford was an advocate of many of the teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses as presented in literature published by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. Today he still advocates many of these same doctrines, but not all of them.
Stafford did not establish Elihu Books or write publications in defense of Jehovah’s Witnesses for those committed to the Watchtower Society. He founded Elihu Books and began publishing information for those who were uncertain about the teachings of the Bible respecting the God Jah and Jesus of Nazareth. Stafford also felt the need to give “an answer to scholars and critics,” as the subtitle of his Defended book reveals, in harmony with 1 Peter 3:15. This was particularly the case for Jah, for Jesus, and for Jehovah’s Witnesses, this in spite of many controversial positions and teachings published by the Watchtower Society, a corporation closely associated with many who claim to be Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Whether he is still tolerated bt the Watchtower I could not say, but if it was anyone else they would be out well before now.

Jehovah Knows in Advance His People Will Fail - July 1 09 WT
by Hopscotch inin this public edition of the watchtower it uses an illustration of a piece of furniture to help explain why jehovah tolerated polygamy.. but the more interesting point i thought was the reasoning in the first paragraph in the second column about jehovah warning his people when they strayed from his standards.
it says "however, he knew in advance that his people would often fail to obey even the most basic of commands, such as the one against idolatry.
(exodus 32:9).

The Law was for the purpose of showing that no man could keep them perfectly and be righteous. That a Saviour was needed that could bridge that gap between God and man and gain salvation.
Unfortunately the Watchtower still persists on making "laws" to which its members have to obey to gain salvation.

Warning - Independent thinking alert - shut down all systems
by donny ini have a jw in my employ and he is overall a good person, but i am frequently reminded how controlled a jw mind is when it comes to reason.
i was in my office with my jw associate when another co-worker (cw) came in and they got into a discussion of bible versions.
it went like this.. cw - well i use the king james version most of the time.

When a JW I was told that the name JEHOVAH was formed by a Catholic monk, Raymundus Martinus, in the 12th Century. He did it by taking YHWH and adding the vowels from Adonai, transliterated it into IEOVAH (no J back then). It was later approved by the Pope as the accepted name for God.
I could never understand why the Watchtower was quite happy to use a name made up by the Catholic Church. Yet condemn everything else that came from that church.
Because it has been used for so many centuries it has become accepted as Gods name, among many Christian groups.
I have Jewish friend who have told me that some Orthodox Jews considered "Jehovah" a laughable version of THE NAME. Though they are ok with Yahweh.
I have heard a Jewish Rabbi pronounce the name, but its nothing that you oculd really write down, very gutteral sounding.

Not seen the picture, but I guess its typical of ones they have done in the past.
If its in the "JW only" edition, then its there to frighten JWs into staying in the WT .
Its saying "See this is what will happen to you if you leave, and those "apostates".
Strange they condemn "Christendom" for frightening people with "hellfire" etc.
But don't seem to see they do the same thing with pictures like this to their own members.
