  Book study next week... was the Mosaic Law perfect?

  before i get the "no it was not, because god does not exist and this is a writing of man", i am directing this discussion to those that either still believe, or need as many tools as possible to talk to a family member still in.. the purpose of my posting is to discuss what i believe to be a mistake on this book or, in the other hand, be corrected if i am not getting the entire picture.. in the book, chapter 19 "god's wisdon in a sacred secret", paragraph 10, it reads.... 10 second, the law thoroughly demonstrated mankinds need for a ransom.

  a perfect law, it exposed the inability of sinful humans to adhere to it fully.

  compare this with hebrews 7:11-12. jesus a priest like melchizedek11now if perfection was through the levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the people received the law), what further need was there for another priest to arise according to the order of melchizedek, and not be designated according to the order of aaron?

  it is no wonder the jewish leaders had ridiculous rules concerning the sabbath.

  the following scripture alone should instill fear of those forsaking the sabbath.. (numbers 15:32-36)--"now while the sons of israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the sabbath day.

  33and those who found him gathering wood brought him to moses and aaron, and to all the congregation; 34and they put him in custody because it had not been declared what should be done to him.

  Of course, the god of the OT was many times intolerant and violent, but Jesus, as shown by the NT,  was more flexible, and it seems that for that reason the historical Jesus was punished at a cross. And yes, it creates a contradiction, because the Law was understood by the Jews as to be valid forever, but christians like Paul had to invalidate it in order to attract the gentiles. May be Jesus did not say that against the Sabbath, but it was convenient to wrote it.

  Thanks  for your comments, I will read your suggested readings......a friend of mine sent me this morning that video and asked me for the validity of the arguments,  so I quickly answered him that I noticed that  the guys in the video are trying to invalidate the dating methods on account of the Flood, but I could not answer the arguments against "The Law of superposition". But I am sure that those guys in the video are of those Evangelicals who wants to prove that the Earth is young and that Yahweh created all living beings in 6 days. This is the agenda behind the video.

  ....I am only interested in those examples used by the video in which they "show" that different layers can be formed simultaneously...I don't think that it could be a general case, but I prefer to read if someone has addressed this argument before

  I found the following video not unbiased and with an agenda behind it. However, I am mainly interested in the argument presented against "The Law of superposition". This Law or Principle is is a foundational principle of sedimentary stratigraphy which states that: 

  Sedimentary layers are deposited in a time sequence, with the oldest on the bottom and the youngest on the top.

  However, the video uses particularly examples so as to invalidate this principle used for dating  fossils. So my question is if you know of some reference which addresses this creationist argument?

  Books/texts/scriptures mentioned in the bible , though not incorporated in the bible cannon .

  if a bible writer / scribe refers to a particular book text or scripture by name , for one reason or another, shouldn`t that be a legitimate reason for including it in the bible cannon as a part of the bible ?.

  just how many texts , books, scriptures are left out of the old testament bible that are mentioned there in and how many, if any are their in the new testament..

  today i called to my sister and she told me that two elders went to her house to announce her that a judicial committe is waiting her in the kingdom hall this friday.

  she told them that she will confirm if she will go.

  however, i have told her that she shouldn't go, instead she should ask them to write a formal letter, with signatures, asking her for which charges she should be submitted in a private room with two men (or three?

    My sister doesn not attend the meetings just for two years. She now knows the truth about the "Truth". However, these elders have done six visits to her house  so as to know why, and she has exposed to them the many flip-flops in issues like organ transplants, blood ban, false prophecies, etc. So they could not convince her. But now, after some months, they have decided to visit her to announce her that there is a judicial committee waiting her this friday. My sister has health problems, too much secular work, so she does not deserve that two stupids elders create more stress in her life. Sadly, I don't live in the same country, otherwise I would  treat them as they deserve.

  ....And we have to think the following. Paul said that Christ is the head of the Church. But if the Gospels contradict themselves, how could it be that Christ is the head of a Church which compiled contradictory accounts of him?. For instance, the fourth Gospel says that the last supper was the day before the passover, while the three others tell us that it was the day of the passover. But if Matthew and John were direct disciples of Jesus, the two must agree in the same date for the last supper. But they disagree, so this is another way to know that one of them was not an eye witness of Jesus, or the two simply were not.  Thus, the Gospels are not reliable, accordingly, the writers of the Gospels were not guided by the same "spirit". ..........However,  millions of persons still believe that the NT is the word of God, and people like the Witnesses live a life under the delusion of the "inerrancy of the Scriptures".
