Yup. That's why it's going to be hard for me to leave when I'm old enough to live on my own, the few friends I have that are at least semi-real friends would shun me and then I'd have to start over my life from scratch.

DF=death
by doneandout inour last midweek meeting was going along as planed, then after the last talk, an elder was called up to say: member x is no longer a jw, please sing.... after the song it was silent (compared to todays were people started talk right away) and the father had his head down with someones hand on his back.
i didn't catch what they were saying, but the pose said: i'm sorry for your loss.. it was a weird night thinking how leaving a religion could couse such sadnness.. jw.org.

Need a Game Plan
by bafh ini'm not sure what is going on at the convention, but i just got a desperate call from a friend wanting me to attend sunday's morning session.
last weekend, my mom invited me too.instead of saying something like, "i'm sorry, but i have no intention of going back," and having them completely freak out - i agreed to go to the sunday morning session.
any recommendations?

IDK if you still need help but my plan was to find other things to think about to keep yourself from getting brainwashed... Sports, politics, whatever, just think of other stuff for most of the time.

If the organization is all about money.....
by Pete Zahut inthen why would they be so insistent about dfing people ?
if it's money the watchtower org is after, it seems like they'd want to hold on to all the members they can.. how would you answer this logic?.

DFing people makes it seem like an exclusive club, and it keeps out people who might say something about TTATT.
I know a bunch of people who are probably just here because they think it's cool to be in the borg.

BASIC questions any reasonable person might ask
by Terry ini wonder about things.
i wonder why other people don't wonder about them.. for example:.
have you ever been to a circus and seen a "clown car"?.

A bunch of them can fit in someone, mainly because they don't exist.

Most absurd thing I heard at the convention yesterday!
by Batman89 inbrother lett was giving the last talk of the day about what they supposedly accomplished in 100 years.
i was just waking up so im paraphrasing alittle(i was dosing off all day) anyways in his introduction he said.
"there is more evidence to prove gods kingdom on the earth is a reality than wind, electricity and gravity is a reality on the earth".

I feel your pain, I mostly daydreamed during the convention in a attempt to not get brainwashed again. The worst part if the (SPOILER ALERT!) new release on brainwashing your kids...
Also I know what it's like to see your friends waste their lives on this, all my friends were indoctrinated since they were little kids and I don't think there's any chance of them leaving.

I'm aware and politics is one of the reasons I became aware. I always considered myself to be ultranationalist.

Writing YA book about JWs...
by UFCFan inso i'm a amateur writer, though i lost my muse for the last story i was working on.
but i had a good idea for a new young adult book that won't just be fun to read, it will help people learn ttatt.
it would be about six or eight teenagers with jw parents, but they all lead double lives at school and away from the congregation.. i don't have many plot ideas yet though, so i'm trying to find someone to co write this with.

I thought about nonfiction but I tried that before and I'm pretty bad at it, while I think I'm at least OK at fiction.
By the way another chapter might be done by Sunday, it's a busy week for me since I have my convention starting tomorrow.
