  My 88 Year Old Mom Is Going To Special Meeting Today And Shouldn't!

  my mom only goes out for doctor's visits.

  they are "encouraging" her to spend three hours to hear the annual meeting at the kh.

  she is on oxygen and can barely move.

  i work in a village called drakesbroughton in between pershore and worcester in worcestershire.

  its a large village with about 400 homes.

  recently it turned into a no cold calling zone and someone in the village ordered stickers for every household saying "no cold callers, no surveys, no canvassers and no religious callers.

Recently it turned into a no cold calling zone and someone in the village ordered stickers for every household saying "no cold callers, no surveys, no canvassers and NO RELIGIOUS CALLERS. Nearly every property in the village now has this sign on the door or in the window. What a fantastic thing to do! It certainly stops the jws from calling. If we could find the opportunity to do the same in our own areas then it certainly would disrupt the preaching activity! Food for thought.

  following on from this post - http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/282716/1/is-this-the-big-change - my info is that the service meeting items next week are to be reduced by 5 minutes each to allow the cobe to present the secret item to the flock!.

  also, no one, not even the cobe knows what the subject matter is yet.. everyone here should be ashamed of themselves for making the glorious ones in brooklyn more secretive than opus dei or the freemasons!!

  I told my Jw mum tonight about this begging arrangment that's going to be happening at the meeting soon for the new bethel build and she was horrified. I asked her how much she was going to pledge and she said "5p" followed by "they shouldn't be asking us for money. If they haven't got the finances for it then they shouldn't build it ." I love my mum.

  Hi matt! And welcome! I'm an exjw from Evesham Hampton congregation just up the road from you! I became inactive straight after reading crisis of conscience back in 2011,when I was 22. They disfellowshipped me the following year at Christmas 2012. I'm like u, agnostic atheist yet still hooked on Jw news and occasionally still do some personal bible study. But feel free to get in contact! I'm only 20 minutes away. :)

  i believe in god.

  i don't believe he punishes or rewards people.

  so by the same extention i don't believe any spirit beings can communicate with or influence humans.. many who do not believe in god though, have gone to fortune tellers.

  I often ask this too. I'm open minded about it but couldn't say one way or another. I did attend a christian spiritualist church a few times in Birmingham UK. I had recently moved up to the area and nobody knew me. The person conducting the service gave a general message from the spirit world to all present and then gave each of us a personal message. When she got to me she said about my past that I was used to be religious and went thru a hard time and have lost people in my life and that I'm now searching and not sure what path to take. (Ive condensed what she said - there was a lot of details she mentiond) the thing is, she doesn't know me yet she was all spot on! How did she know? I thought she either had a message fro. The spirit world or she was just a. Very good judge of character and thought up what to say based on how I was receiving the so called message. I will say though that when it came to predicting the future they wasnt very good - I still haven't gone abroad doing voluntary work lol! However, I did go back for a healing session and she did a shakra cleanse. Not sure if I believe in but wanted to experience it. However, at the end, she said ur 4th shakra is very blocked. Do u suffer from intolerances as that's what I'm getting? I said yes!,I have intolerances for a number of food items. She doesn't know me and I've never revealed anything about myself, again, how did she know? Could she actually read shakras or was it just a lucky guess as lots.of people have intolerances? I don't know. It was a good experience. But I do have to ask why can only some people do this?,why do only some people have the abiliy to receive messages or see ghosts and not others?,it doesn't make a sense to me. So I have an open mind about it and only u can decide for yourself what's going on by ur own experiences of it.

  feeling like a true apostate today

  It was back in 2011 when I was convinced that jws dont have the truth. I rejected so many teachings and was open about that to members of my family. It took me another year to pluck up the courage to attend other churches. But today I feel like I have achieved the highest level of apostasy - I was active in trying to stop the efforts of the preaching work in my area. That was always said to be sinning against the holy spirit as u are trying to stop Jehovah's most important work and could be likened to nimrod, a mighty man in opposition to Jehovah. Well I was busy window cleaning in an elderly residential area and who should pop around but a group of jws! They were leaving tracts with people and with those not at home. With one elderly customer they stopped for quite awhile. When they left I noticed them writing down her details in order to call back on her. She's a very elderly niave lady. But as it happens as I got round to clean her windows her son and daughter in law came. Before going inside I told them I was concerned because the jws had been around, spoken to their mum, left literature and told them that I had saw them right down her details in order to call again. They were naturally alarmed by this and so went inside and dealt with the matter. Later he came out and thanked me for keeping an eye on her mum and telling them about the situation . I advised him to put a no religious callers sign on the door to prevent it from happening again. As I continued cleaning windows I decided to gather up as many of the tracks that I could get my hands on and threw them in the bin. Funny thing is, I don't even feel guilty about it! I felt good that I had prevented the jws from doing too much damage in that area with their teachings. Part of me wants to be really proactive in trying to stop this religion. Ones such as Raymond Franz and Barbara Anderson, ceders should all be commended for their hard work over the years as they are or have been at the forefront of being active in trying to halt this religion and help prevent people from being decieved and helping ones like us to open our eyes and come out of this destructive religion. Whilst the majority of us haven't the ability to do what they are doing, sometimes opportunities come up for us to do a little something in order to help prevent the spread of jws and I hope we can all take up those opportunities in order to show our appreciation to those that helped us to open our eyes to TTATT. Keep up the good work everyone! And feel free to post ur own comments on how u too have personally helped prevent the jws from getting their claws in!

  I also have a friend who recently got reinstated and immediately became inactive. And I know loads in my area who have done that over the years. Whether or not you want to confess to them any wrongdoing or just lie about it depends on how much you believe in the confession of elders to gain Jehovah's approval. If you don't believe, why confess to anything?

  I had a friend who was inactive for a couple of years. She had a boyfriend during that time though noons in the congregation knew about it. When she came back, she didn't tell the elders about it for a few months. But it came out somehow and she confessed to it and a judicial was set up and she was disfellowshipped for a year over it.

  I was inactive once and decided to go back (lasted about a month and couldn't stomach anymore of it) and before I could reengage in the ministry again, the elders had to check with me to make sure I hadn't fallen into serious sin while I was inactive.

  Prior to this, a brother told me that it was customary now for elders to ask inactive ones who want to reactivate about whether they have committed sins whilst being inactive.

  This is my knowledge of the matter based upon my experience in the Evesham Hampton congregation in the UK.

  Insidethekh - made a good point regarding selling off smaller assembly halls in order to build larger ones with more seats - but this assembly hall has seats for over 4000 persons. This would have been an ideal place for holding assemblies.
