Well...I guess Jehovah "blessed her" with a gold medal, a baby out of wed-lock, and a billionaire "worldly" husband. A good example for good JW girls! :)

I remember getting held up by fellow students for NOT standing for the national anthem at school.

Disfellowshipping and Excutions
by blondie in*w60 2/1 80 - 17 there may be rare instances where a child is so hardened in its stubbornness that even the rod of correction cannot drive it out.
in the days of israel parents were instructed by jehovah to take such a rebel to the city fathers and they, in turn, took the incorrigible one out and stoned him to death.
there were no juvenile delinquents under such a system.

Well that California Elder is long dead. He worked till almost his death in his late 70s. His widow cleaned houses until her late 70s. They were both alcoholic back biters. Half their kids grew up hating JWs and them. I grew to sincerely regret ever voting to appoint him an elder. Total train wreck family.
That poor girl was very damaged. She would be in her 40s now.

Is Serena's Williams a JW baptized that is
by blondie in(can't insert edit in title husband a jw?).
i just read that serena said both of them were jws.
but this wouldn't be the first time means 1) supports her beliefs and does them 2) supports her beliefs and doesn't interfered with but no where does it say he is a baptized witness.

Holding a grudge
by LongHairGal ini read something recently on reddit (not sure what thread) where a person related how some jw told them that ‘they hold a grudge’.. this reminded me of something an old jw acquaintance said to me some years back when i related my bad experience in the religion.. so, apparently, jehovah’s witnesses feel they should be forgiven for anything.
people should forget all about it and act like nothing happened and be charitable towards them, etc… when i read in james and ephesians i got the sense ‘holding a grudge’ was referring to the things average people do to offend each other.. i don’t see it applying to a religion that claimed to speak for god and who engendered hateful and unchristian attitudes towards people.. i know because i experienced this.. in addition, some people’s lives were damaged by listening to faulty teachings and interference in things that were clearly none of anybody’s business.. one case in point: them knocking worldly careers and now there are thousands of destitute jws in senior years with nothing.. then in 2023 the religion does away with a century old teaching about counting hours in the ministry.
meanwhile, i got judged over this.

I CHOOSE not to work for big tobacco corporations, the MAFIA, or associate with known child rapists, bank robbers, or other criminals. I CHOOSE to not have habitual liars as friends. Someone who supports or assists in committing crimes is no better than the criminal....a co-conspirator.
Watchtower is complicit in aiding and protecting criminals and is a habitual liar. I choose not to associate with people or entities like this...or to keep "touching the unclean thing". They keep lying and breaking the law...it has nothing to do with forgiveness.

What would happen if the religion just straight out gets outed as bad? The ORG admits to it and all the members get told to disperse
by Starlight.vee inlike the org just gives up and comes out saying that all of what they are saying is untrue and that there is no armageddon, nothing.
how do y’all think the the members still in it would react?.
there be a mental health crisis i perhaps.

Slim, perhaps in Brittan. A "friends" meeting house was at the end of our block from our old home. Rarely more than a handful of cars in their parking lot. They played a big role in US history, designing the penal system, politics, the shipping business, and leading the anti-slavery efforts leading to the civil war. By 2017 only 80,000 left in the USA, vs a population of 330 million. Interesting theology and history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quakers

Story of EX-Jehovah's Witness Elder continues to rank high on Google news for 8 months
by Balaamsass2 ini am adverse to signing up for "newsletters", but since this particular story continues to pop up on google news for months under "jehovah", i thought i would share it with everyone.
people must be clicking on it.
'i was a jehovah's witness for 60 years, but gave it up for christ' - an interview with jim fielder.

Personally, I am surprised this particular elder became an Evangelical Christian. Once you start questioning Watchtower and start going down the logic rabbit hole and asking basic questions, most ex-jws go much, much further.
What caught my attention, is that this story continues to rank as well as it does on Google....despite the need to "subscribe" in order to read it. It shows LOTS of people are digging around.

Well, the GB and their accountants, primarily the accountants, read the writing on the wall and have been consolidating for years now. Billion dollar real estate sell off in Brooklyn. Multiple lay offs of Bethelites around the world. Closure of Branch offices. Lay offs of District overseers and special pioneers. Sell off of Kingdom Halls around the world.
They pulled in their horns and built the smaller Governing Body retirement COMPOUND with high walls, and nice recreation facilities on cheaper rural land.
Remember the Shakers? They were a big deal in the 1800s. We have "Shaker" style cabinets. When was the last time you saw a Shaker? :)
Quakers were a big deal in the 1700 &1800s. No longer.
A few blocks from us is usually empty Christian Science Church. I used to run into members every week in service. I had two members at work. The Christian Science Monitor was quoted weekly most of my life. Mary Baker Eddy was a big deal during CT Russels day. The Christian Science Monitor won Pulitzer prizes, and is now a simple website. Independent sources put membership at only around 50,000 Christian Scientists now! "The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, was built in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1894.[7] Christian Science became the fastest growing religion in the United States, with nearly 270,000 members there by 1936, a figure that had declined to just over 100,000 by 1990[8] and reportedly to under 50,000 by 2009.[3] The church is known for its newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, which won seven Pulitzer Prizes between 1950 and 2002, and for its public Reading Rooms around the world."[n 3

I believe in time, Jehovah's Witnesses will be a quaint memory like Quakers, "Bible Students", Armstrong followers, and Shakers. The Governing Body will live out there lives in quiet luxury, sipping single malt Whiskey, flashing off their Rolexes, pinky rings, and begging for cash on obscure TV channels and JW.com to an aging group of desperate, disillusioned, and impoverished fans.
