How many fence sitters are really out there?
by atomant inl think the real figure would be a real nail in the coffin for jw believers.lf the elders knew what l knew they would have a field day.many many jdubs live a double life.lovey dovey at the hall and totally different people at home and work.my guess is many dubs are schizophrenic and in need of help.with all the brain washing lm not surprised.what have others observed.

There was a ton of us living double lives, some still are. This was a mere 10 years ago in a fairly rural area of the UK. I'm pretty sure the numbers are even higher in the cities where people are more readily able to access things like a decent nightlife ;) -

Elders at the gates
by Gorbatchov inmy lovely wife warned me from the upper floor: close the windows, brother x is at the front door.
so, there they are again, for their required visit before the memorial.
i don't like it, you never hear from them, only in the week before the memorial.

Same here tiki. As it's the last Saturday before the big event lol, I thought we may get something but no, not even a whiff of the elders.
My father in law did give my wife an invite last week saying: ' I know you probably wont come but here's an invite anyway'!

I no longer feel smart as a JW, I feel dumb...
by thedepressedsoul ini don't want anyone to take this the wrong way but i use to at least feel smart as a jw.
when i went to thursday night meetings, i at least felt like i was a student, that i was learning how to speak publicly, i could prepare my own comments, i could answer points that i learned from the weekly bible reading.
i even feel like an "idiot" studying for the meetings.

This is precisely why I would nearly fall asleep at meetings and go a little nuts when I got home.
Same shit different day, week in week out.
Basically anything post Revelation book aswell as Daniels/Isaiah's prophecy was just mind numbing drivel! Mind you funny how all these 'deep' study books have now been discontinued i.e old light lol.

Any weapons enthusiasts here?
by Wonderment ini knew i had a couple of firearms around the house, and one in the car.
however, i didn't realize i had seven, yes, seven of them, when i proceeded to count them.
the reason for that is that i haven't gone to the shooting range in years.

Did any of us ever enjoy meetings?
by stephanie61092 inthis is a legitimate question.
did any of us ever find real joy in being at the meetings?
did any of us ever finish a meeting and think "i feel so enriched"?

The last few years before I awoke to TTATT I would get really sleepy and day dreamy during the meeting. As soon as the meeting was done I'd go stupidly hyperactive! Used to wind my wife up a treat poor thing. -

Hey Rebel there is an Elder in my old Hall who has Love and Hate on his knuckles as well as numerous other tattoos all over his arms. They are quite faded but still obvious. -

Intro 2
by hillfy333 inpart 2. my wife and i were at a point where we wanted to move closer to our daughter as she was about to have a child.. so we put our house up for sale, and after a few weeks we had a buyer.
as we previously had purchased a block of land in the town we had planned to live in, we needed to rent for about a year till our new house was built.
during that time only one witness family showed any kindness to us.

Looking forward to hear how this develops. We've had a very similar experience locally. We've been out 18 months now and I can count on one hand the number of times 'friends' from the hall have been to see/encourage us. Rather pathetic and eye opening considering I've known some of these people over 20 years! -

Hello Everybody
by Thomas the Bill Engine ini didn't see an introduction forum anywhere but i thought it would be weird to start posting without first introducing myself so, here we are.
i'm 15, and i've been looking for a place to discuss my thoughts on the religion that i'm pretty much stuck in at the moment.
my mom and dad divorced over their different beliefs over a year ago (my mom is jw and my dad is an very knowledgeable apostate, so you can see how they would fight over it), and since then i've stopped believing altogether.. just thought i'd say hello.

Intro
by hillfy333 inhi, although i signed up two years ago, and filled out the "interview with an apostate" as hillfy54321, i have since only read various posts.
then purchased a new computer and lost my password, thus no new posts.
i have since reapplied, and now go under the handle of hillfy 333.. a little about myself.

Thanks for that bit of background information. It's amazing how people who've called themselves your 'brothers' just don't bother once you've made the choice to no longer attend meetings.
We've been out 18 months now. There was no call from the elders for last year's memorial and I'm sceptical as to whether they'll bother this year.
I'm really glad to made the choice to cut off and enjoy your life, hopefully your wife will follow soon.
