That region of the world has been in constant turmoil and war since the dawn of recorded history. Something about the air or the sand or something affects the human body and makes it allergic to peace. Maybe there's some weird magnetic field thing going on, I don't know. I think the best way to deal with the problem is to set a deadline to evacuate the whole region. At the deadline, we launch all the nukes that we don't need any more and turn the whole area into a nuked out, radioactive wasteland. I'm telling you, it's not the people, its the area. Something weird is going on over there.

Now don't get me wrong, I love mayonaise. But what's up with putting it on fries? Root beer is wonderful, but whatever country produces Kettle One vodka should rule the world.

I've got some French, some English, and a little Native American. So I'm always fighting with myself, then when I'm done I smoke a bowl to calm down. I've got some other stuff in there too I think, I'm basicly a mut.

Island Woman, you raise an interesting point toward the end of your post. Whenever the "bash America" flag goes up, one of the favorite things for people to mention is the near anihilation of the Native Americans. I wonder how often people give thought to Spain's destruction of the Aztecs, or Brittan's wiping out of the Zulus, or Portugal's contamination of the ancient and proud civlizations of China and Japan? "Hi kettle, I'm the pot. You're black." So it looks like WE ALL SUCK! Yeah! Shame on all of us, let's go for ice cream!

You ask:
"Wouldn't it have been better if after having gone to the meetings for a while and she had her consciousness raised and then took it upon herself to drop her himlines instead of someone dictating to her that she should drop them?"The answer is no. It would have been better to have not gone to the kingdom hall in the first place. If anything, I would thank that elder for perminantly saving your daughter from the degredation of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. There is nothing wrong with medium to high hem lines and anyone who tells you otherwise has an agenda.

Ethics and morality,
by Norm inin the west we are rightly very concerned with child labour and other such matters.
western consumer groups boycott firms that have their clothes made by factories using children.
i know this is usual in europe and i guess it is in the us too.. in other areas we see no such concerns.

Jan, you crack me up dude. Me American, me neadrathal, me like big guns, me can't spell for shit! You're gonna catch it from the sensitive people for that last post. Wish I knew some Norway jokes.
To the point of the original post:
I agree with the sentiment of it. But it ignores the reality of how the world works and throws practicality out the window. Also it singles out the USA for blame. I'm sure many Western European countries have dealings with countries that have policies contrary to their own. Sure the USA, along with the rest of the civilized world, would like things to change in various parts of the world. But different parts of the world progress faster than others. We just have to find a happy, PRACTICAL medium. -

Best National Anthem
by Mulan inokay, let's do a poll.. since it looks like many of us are watching the olympics, let's vote on which country has the best national anthem.. i love canada's.
i find myself hoping a canadian will win, so i can sing along to their song.. when the russians win, i get a cold disquieting feeling, since they adopted the old soviet anthem again.
too many memories of the old ussr.. marilyn (aka mulan).

Main now Friends?
by Outaservice ini noticed the 'main' part of the board is now called 'friends'.. didn't the witnesses use to refer to each other as 'the friends'?.
maybe we ought to change it to 'ren.dez.vous brothers and sisters'?.
just a thought!.

Outa, you are very observant. New changes to be implimented soon:
1) The site name will be changed to "The Kingdom Hall"
2) The distinctions of Junior Member, Newbie, etc. will be replaced with Publisher, Special Pioneer, etc.
3) The icon of a burning folder for hot topics will be exchanged for an outline of a Watchtower, similar to the one used in the magazine of the same name.
4) The term "live chat" will be replaced with "witnessing forum" -

What would YOU do?
by Adam inthe california super lotto plus is up to $131 million.
our office has 35 people buying a single ticket together.
since the organizer picked the "cash now" option instead of the "over 20-years" one, there will be a stiff penalty.

Mind, like you I would go to a money man as soon as I found out that a check was coming my way (after recovering from the celebratory hang over of course). I hear that 75%-80% of lottery winners end up filing for bankruptsy in a few short years after they win. Unfortunatly you must choose "now" or "over time" when you purchase the ticket. Personaly, I would choose the "over time" option. That would keep me from spending it all right away and I'm only 25 so I could spend the rest of my life in semi-retirement if I was smart with the money. Maybe instruct skydiving once in a while for a few extra bucks. Perhaps I could pay someone to teach me how to spell.

Hey, I just had a great idea for any Canadians out there. You could buy a figure skating judge or two. With a couple judges in your pocket you could make sure that the Canadians don't get the shaft in 2006 like they did this year.
