I agree with you- every time I hear that song, I almost bust out crying for all the pain in my past. The important thing, however, is that I dry my tears and try to make some new, happy memories. We can't get back the years that we lost, but we have a level of control over our futures. I still can't believe how much better life is now, than when I was a kid.

Movies that follow a common theme
by Markfromcali ini think this might be a new twist on this kind of topic, i will start.. a subject that is of interest to me is awakening, and off hand my list would include vanilla sky, waking life, and fight club.
there's probably one or two i am forgetting, anyone who thinks of one please add to this list.
see even if they are very different it can have a common theme... edited to add: of course i mean any list/theme you may be interested in, not just this one

Turns out liquor store in my neighborhood is owned by JW's
by run dont walk ini was very surprised, here in alberta, canada, they privatized the liquour stores about 10-15 years ago, and the amount of stores tripled, practically one on every corner now, .
well, it turns out, that one store in my neighborhood isowned and operated by this family that are jehovah's witnesses, belong to a chinese congregation, .
i would think this would not be allowed, or show poor judgement, they say its wrong to have a store and sell cigarettes, but maybe alcohol is ok, .

Danny, what are you talking about? What prejudices do I have? Reread my post, I was saying that I try not to judge others. -Insomniac

Did I Do The Right Thing?
by Englishman inthis happened just about an hour ago.
i'd driven out of town to do some remedial work for a customer, so i was driving my battered old ford sierra.
coming back into wsm, i was a few hundred yards from a large roundabout and was positioned in the correct lane, ie, the centre one, and slowing to a stop.

Wow, I'm really glad that you were not hurt by this guy! You did the best you could under the circumstance- pushing the cars off the highway was pretty heroic, if you ask me! Years ago, my friend was hit from behind at a stop light by a drunk driver. A month later, she came out of her coma and her husband had to tell her their only child had died in the accident. Everybody in town sympathized with the young man who hit them, because this "one mistake" had ruined his chances to go to college!
I hope they charge this guy that hit you and take away his license so he'll be off the road for a while. And I'm so glad that you are not hurt!

I'm with you on this, googlemagoogle. It seems some of us on this board have had such bad experiences in the organization, that now they are just filled with hatred for anything "Witness". I try to analyze my feelings periodically: there were some terrific people I knew who were witnesses, including members of my family, whom I dearly love. There were also some bad people in the congregation with whom I want nothing to do, ever. And a lot of people who were somewhere between these extremes- just like you'd find with any large group of people. So, I try to remind myself that my issues are with the Watchtower Society, not its sheep, and to judge people as individuals, not part of a collective.
Welcome to the board, googlemagoogle!

I don't get why this should be a problem. I mean, Jesus very first miracle was turning water into wine! As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing wrong with anybody selling alcohol.

This is awful, but here goes:
Honey-bunny and I had been dating a couple of months. One day, we went to the beach together, hiked in the woods nearby, etc. We got back to his place and I was so tired, he said I should take a nap on his bed while he fixed us some dinner. I slept a while, and when he called me to say dinner was ready, I realized what day of the month it was- I had bled profusely all over his comforter! (Mercifully, I had my duffel bag in the room with me, and it had my gym pants in it-whew!) I figured I would take it home and wash it for him, but I couldn't very well take it out of his apartment without him noticing. So, I rolled it up and told him it looked grubby, and I was going to wash it for him just to be nice. Well, he kept saying, no, don't bother, until I finally had to fess up. So he grabs it and starts spraying the stain with laundry stain remover, so it wouldn't set in. I was mortified, but he kept saying that he'd been married, had a few girlfriends, he was used to "girl stuff". Turns out, the comforter had been a wedding present from his now-deceased mother, and it was one of the few things he'd taken from the home when he and his wife divorced because it was so special to him. Which just made me feel more awful, but I was able to get the stain out, thank God!

Men With Older, Uglier Women.....
by Country Girl ini liked all the fuss on the thread about younger girls.
i once was a younger girl, and i could command any man to do what i wanted because i was beautiful and young.
now that i am older and uglier, i have to use my wits.

Country Girl- I'm sure I speak for all of us who saw your apostafest pics when I say: WTF are you talkin bout, girl? You look great, not all that different from a few years back. And don't go chopping anything off, neither.
But, Jayne Mansfield? Sorry, I just don't see the resemblance- she was pretty, but in a very blonde/blue-eyed kind of way. But I'm sure your mom meant it as a compliment.
