faded- Unless your vet has reccommended a different brand, you might consider Wysong brand cat food. It's excellent stuff, and all my cats have been on it. While I can't give all the credit to the food, they all lived to a ripe old age: Antoinette succumbed to kidney failure at 23 (not a typo!), Tut at 20 due to an infection his elderly system just couldn't fight off, and I had to have my Shushilla put to sleep at 19, as she had failing kidneys and cancer. All three of them were happy, healthy cats their whole lives, with the exception of Tut's bout with the dreaded pee disease. I do think that feeding them quality food played a role in their overall health.

Cat in Emergency Care - could use some support
by carefully faded ini'm really nervous and scared right now.
i just brought my boy kitty to the emergency care clinic with a blocked urinary tract.. i noticed something was wrong last night when i came home and his sister greeted me at the front door (he is always the first one to greet me).
i went into my bathroom and saw that one of them had pooped on the floor - something neither of them had ever done before.

Potty Mouths?
by Low-Key Lysmith inwhen i got out of the dumbs, i use to cuss non-stop i think as a pathetic tactic to make worldy people think i was a little more worldy.
i still swear from time to time, and foul language does not offend me at all, but i was talking to my sister the other day, she just turned 21, has discovered alcohol, is currently on public reproof, and i think is really close to being on her way out herself.
she cursed like a sailor the whole time i was talking to her.

Even as an auxilliary pioneer, I cussed like a mofo. I was pretty careful, however, to be considerate of my company and temper my words accordingly. I still try to be careful around whom I curse. For instance, my great auntie, who's an elderly nun, can handle vulgarity, but not blasphemy or profanity. And yes, there is a difference.
My mom taught me a great saying when I was just a pup; I'm not sure who said this originally, though. "Profanity is the crutch of the intellectual cripple." Deep, huh? And it can be true; if the only words you use for emphasis are curses, you'll end up sounding pretty stupid. So, use those colorful words, just use them sparingly.

OK smarty pants, post something simple that most people don't know.
by JH inok, lets see if you guys know the answer to this simple question.. .
if you have a car with a mechanical speedometer and odometer, not digital, and if you back up, will your mileage on the dial back up?.
7 miles on the odometer and you back up, for a few hundred feet, will the mileage also back up slowly to 47,108.6 and so on....?.

Although he's made millions with his music, and is a nationally beloved figure, Jimmy Buffett actually can't sing all that well. In a superb example of mass-hypnosis, we've convinced ourselves that he RAWKS, but he's truly sucky in reality.

faded- I'm sure your little guy will be fine- it sounds like you didn't waste any time getting him to the vet's, so the problem didn't get as bad as it could've.
My own kitty (Tut) had this condition a number of years ago. He had the operation, but it took a lot out of him and he had a long convalescence. Initially, he was too weak to feed himself, so I would hold him on my lap and moosh food onto his tongue with a popsicle stick. I knew that had gone on long enough when he started bringing the stick to me in his mouth, then climbing onto my lap and lying there with his mouth open like a baby bird! He had to start eating a different food to prevent a relapse, but he liked it fine. He lived many many healthy years, and died of old age about three years ago.
Best wishes to your cat, and a speedy recovery.

What does your name MEAN?
by RichieRich inwe all are identified by our names here on jwd.
some use their real names, and others pick a moniker that is their nickname or perhaps a few words from a song they like.. why did you pick your name?.
for instance,.

Insomniac means just what you'd think it does: I have a really hard time getting to sleep.
My given name means "consecrated to God." Two middle names, one being the name of a flower I can't abide the smell of, the other one meaning "good voice." My surname means "of the valley." My nickname that people in town call me is a shortened form of one version of my first name that's more easily pronounced by some than my first name- Beta.
Wish I had an interesting story behind any of my names, but I don't.

What Were Your Experiences In Dating JWs?
by minimus inwere they all dates from hell?
any "immorality"?
did you ever "date" knowing the person was never "marriage material"?

I dated a few guys, but generally kept it on the down-low, 'cuz of all the gossip-mongering in the cong. Unfortunately, I believed that if I was to be a witness, I should obey the rules, whether I personally agreed with them or not. So, no nookie for Insomniac. As I had a no-sex policy, I tended to date guys who were similarly uninterested in sex; two of them later discovered they were gay, and left da troof.
I vividly remember another guy (cute, Mexican, 20 years my senior) who spent a few minutes kissing me when he dropped me off at my apartment. I was on cloud nine, as he was a great kisser. A little while later, he called from his house all guilt-stricken because our five minutes of liplock had "excited" him too much and he'd had unclean thoughts on the way home. We dated for a while after that, but always with a chaperone, and no more kissing.
Most of the brothers I dated were good people, guys I'd probably like to hang out with today, although none of them were romantically compatible with me. They did have some outmoded views of male/female relationships, but tended to display them as chivalrous , rather than chauvinistic, behavior. Only one, the PO's son, was a complete jerk. He was one of those bros who thinks women are only good for making babies and cleaning house. He even wanted to keep living with his parents after marriage, so we could afford to pioneer together. Unfortunately, his bedroom was only 8 feet by 8 feet, and had a set of bunk beds in it! He later married one of his cousins (I'm serious) and they have a litter of kids, so I hope he's found his personal happiness.
Sorry if this post rambles. I'm really very sleepy.

The sun does not actually emit any kind of light. It only appears to because everything around it is so dark.
A common goldfish can kill a fully grown male gorilla. It does, however, require a substantial element of surprise.
The pyramids are not really very old. They were built in 1943 by drunken British soldiers on leave in Egypt, as a joke. All photographs of the area taken before 1943 have been retouched.

question for all
by bonnzo inmost of you are ex-dubs, so what if world events proved that the jw's were right.
for instance, governments turning on religion, matthew 24th chapt events really increasing at an alarming rate, enough to make you think: " maybe they were right?
" if that happened, and the wts left the "door on the ark", so to speak, open for a little while, would you go back to the wts?

Even if it all turned out to be true, I would still refuse to worship any god who would choose the WTBTS as its earthly representative. He could go right ahead and kill me, but I wouldn't do it.

It started out as just a walk ...
by kwintestal in... and it turned into an animal rescue.. it was a beautiful day here, so after supper my wife, two kids and myself decided to take a stroll in the woods nearby.
you have to drive a ways up an out-of-the-way road to get to this trail and we had a great time on our walk.
so we're headed back to the car and hear a faint, "meow".

Why the heck don't people get their animals neutered, dang it? All of my cats through the years have been abandoned, unwanted, homeless beasties. Because I love my little buddies, I take them to the vet's as soon as they're old enough and get them fixed, so they won't be producing more unwanted kitties.
Kwintestal, you and your family were very cool to help the little kittens out; I'm glad you took the time!

JW women focused on appearance!
by Sirona init really gets on my nerves.. jw women used to be always focused, as their number one thing, on appearance.
they could be crap at the rest of the jw stuff, but if they turned up at the meeting dressed nice, thin, long hair, looking nice, all was forgiven.
of course it was because of the misogyny (sp?

Ohh, man... I'd actually managed to sort of forget about this aspect of dubism. But, yeah- Sirona's hit the nail on the head. The ideal sister was indeed slim and quiet, pretty but not sexy. I hated that all the brothers went for these girls nearly exclusively, and how it made me feel as though I'd never measure up. I had some "perfect" friends in the cong, who ended up married way too young to guys who weren't right for them. I, on the other hand, was perpetually mouthy, opinionated, and chubby- therefore, single. I think I got a much better deal, all things considered.
One of my buds got married at 17, had two kids in two years, and was widowed at 20. She had no job, no education. She told me that she considered "finding a suitable mate" to be her full-time job. The poor girl spent every penny she had on hair and clothing, dropped twenty pounds in a hurry, and presto- married again by age 22. Unfortunately, the shallow, domineering schmuck had an affair with another Stepford sister, and my friend ended up divorced at 24, with her first two kids and a new infant. Uuuugh! If only I could go back in time and try to warn her; she deserved so much better from her life.
