The WTS just wants to take inventory of who they think they can salvage and discard the rest. That’s really all it’s about. Taking inventory.

Blondie's Comments You Will Not Hear at the 02-02-2014 WT Study (GREAT SHEPHERDS)

Great job, Blondie! I like this format you used; it clearly differentiates the questions and paragraphs of the study article under consideration from the quotes and comments that have been added.
I commented on paragraph four of this Watchtower study about how Christian shepherds should treat the sheep. I said that the elders should not be lording it over the sheep, and not be harsh or demanding or coerce people into following the directives and policies of man [i.e., the GB] because we are all God’s children. (Of course, any such little thoughts I embed in my comments will never really reach the conscious, logical processing part of the brains of the vast majority of those in attendance.)

Question from an outsider regarding beliefs and views on women
by DarkRose123 ini am a not a jehovah witness but i have just gotten out of a relationship with a devout one.
i mean no offense to this post but am simply curious and would like some help in understanding.. my ex claimed to be a devout jehovah witness.
he studied the bible for 10 years.

To “DarkRose123”: Firstly, welcome to the Board! As you can see, there is much information on here which illuminates and explains the general problem of arbitrary sexism imposed by the Watchtower leadership. Although, your specific experience is quite relatively unique in that it involves a most serious form of mental illness. Nevertheless, as “sir82” pointed out above, the Jehovah’s Witness religion certainly does exacerbate the problem of male chauvinism based on a draconian interpretation of a twitty Pharisee’s fundamentalist views on Christianity (that Apostle Paul guy).
Secondly, given the serious and dangerous situation of having just left a relationship with someone who is a violent and abusive schizophrenic AND a devout Jehovah’s Witness, I would say don’t hesitate to seek a restraining order on this person if you feel in any way that your personal safety is threatened. Better safe than sorry with someone like that. (Schizophrenics aren’t exactly known for having the best judgment.)
I wish you all the best in being able to move on to something better. (Pretty much anything else would have to be better than that.)

Why a Faithful and discreet slave???
by Crazyguy inthe bible speaks of it making a man fully equipt 2tim, and that the anointing teaches one 1john, holy spirit is also available luke, john and even god will grant wisdom if one asks james.
so why the need for a faithful and discreet slave, in the bible???
?.

To “Londo111”: That YouTube video “Who Is the Faithful Slave?” really clarifies things, and it shows how a group of men who call themselves the “Governing Body” can take something so simple and logical and spin it into their own little web of power and control. The authority behind the Watchtower’s empire (corporation) has been “produced” in the same manner as someone pulls a quarter out of their kid’s ear – i.e., it’s all a trick! (And a rather lame one at that.)

TATTOOS and da troof - DOES the babble teach what WT claims?
by hamsterbait inthey love to quote the verse "you must not make tattoo markings upon yourself," to "prove" that witlesses should not have body art.. yet the word tattoo is maori in origin.
how the hell did moses know a maori word???.
in every other translation it says you must not make cutting marks.

You could always get a tatoo of the Watchtower logo, but then they would probably try to sue you for copyright infringement.

I feel sorry for the R.Catholic's that got hoodwinked by the J.W.watchtower cult
by bobld inthey are now apostates in the eyes of the church.they are ostracized by family and friends.they have lost the privilege of confessing their sins to a priest and the blessed sacrament of the holy eucharist.just imagine and 18 yr old getting the boot from the parents to leave home.. now,the brainwashed cult member has the audacity to tell family and friends(if allowed) that the r.c.c.
lied to him/her and said that they could not read and understand the bible w/o the help of the priest.heaven forbid,if they read the publications of the watchtower, the faithful slave(gb) tells j.w.
that they cannot read the bible on their own and understand it w/o the help of the slave.it is in one ear and out the other.. r.c.c would not ostracize their members..

“LostGeneration”: “It won't be long now until they simply say they have fulfilled Matt 24:14 via jw.org.”
Then they’ll say that we have entered the time when the Watchtower’s message has turned into the hard-hitting message like hailstones at Revelation 16:21: “ From the sky huge hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds, fell on people. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.” (NIV) Then they will think they can call everybody “mentally diseased,” not just the “apostates.”

A good and practical idea is to run a few copies of the little flyers and handouts from the Advocates for Awareness of Watchtower Abuses, or “AAWA,” and leave some in hospital waiting rooms, doctor’s offices, libraries, churches, auto dealerships, salons, treatment centers, etc. You can have some run by a local print shop on a high-speed color laser system quite economically. You can also set up a little mailing list of effective contacts, and get names, addresses, and email addresses of interested people to add. (Informal witnessing!) You could also use social media (under an alias user name) to invite people to subscribe to your email distribution list. (Use an email address which doesn’t match up in any way to your real name to be safe.)
You can download the AAWA flyers from the following:
http://aawa.co/publications/flyers-and-handouts/
http://aawa.co/publications/aawa-newsletter/
Now THAT would be time well spent. And just think, you could actually save the life of a child by informing people of the ridiculous folly of the Watchtower’s blood policy. I think Jesus would be proud to see people being made aware of love and mercy vs. loyalty to a corporation and their “theocratic warfare.” I certainly wish you the best of luck. Let those digital presses/copiers and emails fly!

Elder and i discussed beards, and got into rules and regulations
by Jon Preston induring a study the elder brought out that eating blood and omens are from the devil, and brought me to leviticus 19:26 (i think).. in verse 27 i says this:.
you must not shave the hair on the side of your head or disfigure the edges of your beard.. i said: "so why are we not allowed to have beards?".
elder: "thats a good question, cleric.

“redvip2000”: “This is simply about control, just like tattoos and sisters wearing pants. It's about this outward over-the-top showing of how disciplined JWs are.”
“BU2B”: “. . . OUR STANDARDS MUST BE HIGHER!”
This issue regarding beards is somewhat similar to the WTS protecting and not reporting pedophiles to the authorities – it’s all about the public image of the WTS organization. They want to show everyone that all the JWs are superior in every way to the rest of the “world.” And this is their basis for judgment.
They are so hyper focused on the stereotypical JW image of the squeaky-clean well-groomed polyester-suit-and-tie-wearing door-to-door literature salesman that they fail to see the Bible’s simple perspectives, such as: “For not the way man sees [is the way God sees], because mere man sees what appears to the eyes; but as for Jehovah, he sees what the heart is” (1 Samuel 16:7), “Do not let your adornment be that of the external braiding of the hair and of the putting on of gold ornaments or the wearing of outer garments, but let it be the secret person of the heart in the incorruptible [apparel] of the quiet and mild spirit, which is of great value in the eyes of God” (1 Peter 3:3, 4), and “Go, then, and learn what this means, ‘I want mercy, and not sacrifice.’” (Matthew 9:13).
The old-timers at Bethel headquarters may look respectable, but, as Jesus said about the Pharisees: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you resemble whitewashed graves, which outwardly indeed appear beautiful but inside are full of dead men’s bones and of every sort of uncleanness. In that way you also, outwardly indeed, appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.” (Matthew 23:27, 28)
So true worth would definitely be correct in the eye of the beholder – who is Jesus.

“Yeah, but the light gets brighter.”
You know that you’re likely to hear something like that, sounding like a little sound byte coming from a robot, if you call a JW on any kind of technicality. “The light gets brighter,” “The Governing Body members aren’t perfect but they’re humble, loyal, and sincere,” “Jehovah has appointed the Faithful and Discreet Slave to organize the work,” and, of course, another one of their favorites, “Where else would we go? Who else are busy doing the preaching work which Christ commanded in these last days?”
You know that you’ll get one or more of the above no matter what inconsistency you could point out to them. It’s almost like the sound effects guy on the Howard Stern Show – just pull up a standard pre-recorded canned response from the very narrow repertoire and press “play.”
