X-JWs Who are now bible Christians

hi folks,.

i'm just sort of taking role call to all those x-dubs who are now brothers and sisters in christ.

i think it is wise for us to rise up and be counted so that we know who each other are.

I haven't gotten email updates on this so I had no idea
Now, I haven't read all Clashes comments but from what I have read, he is an honest, true Christian and I have no problem calling him(I assume ) my brother in Christ.
I don't exactly 'group' myself with him, as you put it, as I belong to Christ but we are both members of Christs church.
I have not been silent on purpose but I do wish to support him.
While his comments may have seemed blunt and rubbed some the wrong way, He was speaking the truth. God's word.
If one is offended at God's word then, I am sorry but, thats their problem & they're in my prayers.

While in depth knowledge of all the truths in the Bible is not required for salvation, a basic belief in the truth & gospel is. The trinity is not some huge, mysterious, vague doctrine that takes years to even find in the Bible. It's there, loud and clear and is the very essence of God. A rejection of this doctrine is a problem salvation wise. Without making a case for the trinity here let me just say a general priciple that should make sense here:
Assuming the trinity to be true:
To not follow the true God-- as described in scripture as Father, Son, & Holy Spirit-- is a rejection of the true God. You can't accept part and reject part and still have the truth.
Differing on small issues like what kind of music to use in worship is not the same thing as differing on WHO GOD IS.

Clash and other Christian here, nice to meet you all and I love hearing your stories of Grace! Our God is an Awesome God, Amen !

To those who aren't christians, try not to take offense to a simple sharing of ideas, stories and truth. If you want to talk about actuall questions or ideas we do care and want to talk with everyone, not just those that agree with us . We are just trying to meet the others on here that are also christians now as others have done before for various other belief systems.

Converted into jwism at 14 by family members, studied and was a good little JW girl for about a year.
Studied the Bible for myself because of Christian friends at 15,
Became a bornagain Christian at 15 almost 16 in 1995.
DAed myself Early 1996 and kicked out of me home at this point by the loving body of elders .
God is Great !!!

please correct me if i'm wrong, anyone.. i've noticed, as well as many of you on this forum probably, that jws are more than willing to come here and stick up for their cult, but where is their compassion for those that are grieving?

where is your joy for those that have had a major triumph or 'blessing' in their life?.

are you jws so programmed by the wts that you can't show empathy or sympathy for a fellow human being?

Remember Jesus said to love even your enemies and pray for those who persecute you because even the wicked love those who love them.
I think this applies here

They are a prime example of those who Jesus describes the sheep and the goats in Matt.25:31-46.

Do you beleive in God, the bible or religion?

i'm pretty sure this question has probably been asked before but i'd like to put it out here and see what the responses are.

my doubts about the bible probably began maybe 6 or 7 years ago, they were very small ones however and i managed to supress them for quite a while.

however certain events in my life would make those events resurface.

I believe in God and the Bible. My research has just provided too much evidence in their proof to think otherwise. Also, I know God through experience. While experience isn't an infallible proof it does support the truth. I don't believe in religion. A bit confusing? My trust isn't in people, My trust is in God.
I am a christian, ie: I follow Christ and I go to church. Church is for worshipping God, hanging out with other believers, learning and serving others--- not to control members .

Your questions are understandable and we have all asked them at one time or another. But the good news is there are real answers to them and they aren't as hard and cynical and one might think.
God has to allow free will so we can choose love. Without the ability to choose it really isn't love. With choice comes the ability to choose wrong. Yes, Satan, Eve, and Adam sinned and
thus we inherit the ability but we ALL have sinned before too. Anyone who says otherwise is fooling themselves. Now, people ask if God knows everything why did he bother creating what he knew would sin and start evil. Simply because of true love. Although evil was permitted to exist true love exists because of the possibility. I know Im getting a bit philisophical here but try to follow .
Evil and bad things happen because of people choosing the wrong path and rebeliing against their very creators love. Some think God is vain and selfish to require our love, after all, it's our life, right? But no one would think a parent selfish for wanting the love of their child or for being hurt when rejected and thats the same principle.
Every evil is a result of human sin. While it may not seem fair that other innocent people have to suffer because of some peoples wrong choices- it's the way life works. None of us is an island- we effect everyone around us for good or for bad.
God is love and he paid the ultimate price, his own son, so that we wouldn't have to suffer for our mistakes and could be forgiven. We don't HAVE to accept it, that is our choice, but its us who are allowing evil to triumph then.

"The Trinity" - My Thoughts

the thought behind the trinity is not so hard to understand or appreciate if you approach if from a philosophical viewpoint.

The WT wants people to think the concept of the trinity is confusing- too confusing to be possible. They say we christians call it a mystery so we don't even know what we believe----But since when has the WT turned out to be right ? The trinity is just a name for the concept that the Bible outlines about God. It was given a name to have something to call it. This is not an immoral practice as you will find the famous JW word 'theocracy' is not in the Bible either. The concept existed long before the nicean creed and the catholic church, contrary to WT indoctrination.

The trinity's 'HOW' question is the mystery-- how can One God be three persons but yet still be one being? But just because you can't understand 'HOW' doesn't mean it isn't true. We also don't know 'HOW' God created everything from nothing but he did and science supports it. The fact is whether the Bible says it or not, and it does- there is absolutely no way around it.
I researched it as a JW and I had to leave JWs because they were wrong.
It's way more than finding a few stray verses that incinuate it----The entire Bible says it. If anyone truly wants to know the scriptures then please email me. And Larsguy- if you honestly care about Jehovah and knowing him and have honest questions - I'll answer. I've heard all the objections and can honestly say they aren't valid or contradictory to the trinity concept

Hi Atreyu,

I left the WT because of personal Bible studying and discovering their doctrines were not the truth. I became a christian. Can be a loaded word in this society but in the Biblical sense a Christian, follower of Christ. Lv4fer & I agree .
From research on many topics I know God exists. I also know from evidence the Bible is reliable and from God. There is One True God, named Yahweh, who eternally exists in three persons- Father, Son & Holy Sprit. Jesus came to die for our sins and raised to give us life. Our faith alone in him is our salvation. No work or good deed will make us good enough, soley by Gods grace. As a Christian we follow Christs example and love everyone. We share our faith with those interested and help others. The 'Church' is comprised of all true believers. It is not one set denomination or specific church.
The church building and local congregation serve as a place for christians to gather to worship God and learn, and serve others.
Membership in a physical church is not equal salvatio or membership in Christs Church as spoken of in the Bible. Again, Faith in the truths of the Bible, and more specificly, God and Christ is what saves.

After the WT it can be hard to want 'religion' or God but we should all remember that although the jws twist God and are wrong about many things, this does not mean God isn't true. Judge God based on the evidence not on religions. <>< Angie

but what really shocks me now is that as a child i genuinely believed some of the most preposterous, stupid and moronic things ever committed to papyrus.. take the nephilim.

My 2 cents:
JW interpretation of Nephelium = Angels that go after earthlings
Is humorous and shows how they jump to conclusions.
Genesis 6:4 in the NIV reads:

"The nephilium were on the earth in those days-and also afterward- when the sons of god went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were heros of old, men of renown."

The original hebrew supports this translation.

Notice that it says that the nephilium were on the earth when
sons of God went to the daughters of men. It does NOT say they ARE the sons of God. In fact it seems to be making a distinction intentinally between them. The last sentence also states they were heros of old and men of renoun. 'They' in the grammar refers back to the 'nephilum'. So these nephilum were really 'fallen angels that lust after earths women' but also were men of old and renoun? They were heros? Okie dokie [8>]
JW doctrine is a nice mythical sounding story but doesn't match the Bible's account.

God three whats and one whom????????????

hello all.. i dont know if this is the right area for debate most i have read on here is pretty childish.

but im looking for debaters to handle this topic on the trinity.

ex jws say they now have the truth and many have gone back to churches.

Very Simply put.........

The Bible states:
*There is one and only one true God
*Whose name Is Yahweh, 'I am'
*The Father is called God, The Son IS called God, The Holy Spirit is called God.
*All three have the same eternal qualities ie: omnicient,omnipresent,Holy,infinite,eternal,etc...
*All three are called God & THE God(Elohim & Theos & Ho Theos), Lord(Adonai & Kyrios), LORD(Yahweh)etc.......
*All three speak as Yahweh & as God
etc....................

Thus the concept of the Trinity: One Being,God, existant in 3 persons.
3 distinct separate personages but one in being,purpose,essence-One God. It is the only way to stick to everything the Bible says about God. If these claims are something you care to discuss then let me know but this is it in a nutshell and is entirel backed by scripture.

I'm New - my story

hi everyone, i too have been lurking for a few weeks and thought it was time i made myself known.

i am not a jw but i am married to a man who is from a multi-generational family of jw's (although he has not been to meetings since he was old enough to object).

although i have never had any direct involvement with the organisation itself, i find my life is constantly infulenced by these people who judge, shun and avoid my husband and i (i guess they don't want to mix with "worldy people" such as us).

I became a christian and left the WT org. cuz they are not the truth.
Sincere most of the time but sincerely misled.
I have believed in God for as long as I remember but yes, there comes a time when you question what you cannot see. I was the one in our marraige that was the JW. After leaving the WT I wanted to learn about everything and make sure I was making my decision and beliefs from facts and not only feelings. I researched and came to the conclusion that the evidence supports God's existance and the God of the Bible as the truth.

My husband a bit more drasticly than myself . My husband was raised by his father a very strict atheist who thought he knew everything. He ridiculed christians. One day he got the strangest urge to visit a church. He did with his mother but didn't really get anything out of it. Time went on and he started to question if the concept of God could be disproven. Time went on. One day he went to a christian confrence/concert cuz/ he got tickets from his mom for his birthday. He observed amused as the Christians worshiped and sang and listened to the message. He couldn't help but feel the presence of something he couldn't explain. He saw the Joy in the believers. He hear the rational and powerful message. The topic of the talk after the concert was 'Heaven, Hell, and the judgements'. For and atheist you'd think this would be easily ignored but it wasn't. HE had always been plagued by a fear of death-- I guess it's natural for everyone and this made sense. Still he refused to give up being an atheist and recognize God. Months later after research and thinking himself to death he accepted God and Jesus and became a Christian. Since then (8 years ago) he has studied science, history, archeology, etc... and has only grown stronger in his faith and belief in God.

Concerning Luke 24:39

when one talks to a witness about the resurrection why do they always say that christ came back as a spirit when christ clearly said in luke 24:39,that he did not come back as a spirit?scripture clearly says that ,"a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see i have.".

Frankly,
Because when they predicted his physical return in 1879 and he didn't cooperate they decided it was an invisible/spiritual return. If his return is invisibe where is his body? Oh, thats right, he can't have one so the resurrection has to be 'spiritual' only too. The lengths they go to to cover up mistakes is sad.

You are very right though, When Jesus appeared to the disciples they thought they were seeing a ghost/or spirit. Jesus corrected them in the above scripture you quote. In another gospel he even takes a piece of fish and eats it with them to prove he is alive and well.

The JWs Jesus is a liar. Their doctrine teaches that Jesus was using another fabricated body while on earth after the resurection and before the Ascension just to make the disciples believe he was really alive. The body wasn't really his, he was just putting on an act so they would believe him. He was really only a spirit but they wouldn't undestand that so he had to fake a body. Go figure.
