Bring spray bottles filled with ice. As it melts, you can spray cold water on yourself and your charges.

No TARPS Allowed (or large umbrellas).
by problemaddict inmaybe this was already covered here.
i've been absent a bit more than usual.. at qualcomm stadium, home of the chargers and the "special arrangement" with san diego which means they use the venue for free, you are not allowed to bring a tarp in the 80 degree sunshine, nor a large umbrella.. mercifully however, you may bring a small one person umbrella you can hold or perhaps vice to the seat, but if someone asks you to take it down, you are to oblige.
san diego is freaking out over this i can assure you.

I'm afraid I'd be single for life
by ohnightdivine inthis is quite embarrassing for me to share, but as a 30+ year old single female i have lingering doubts as to whether i can still meet a decent man and get married.. you all know how difficult it is for sisters to find an appropriate partner in the congregation.. and now, all the more so that i've learned ttatt.
i still am bound by low self-esteem, and i do have trust issues, especially with men.
i am very lonely and so i just keep myself busy with work to avoid depression (although it is also a great source of stress).. any other single females out there having similar thoughts?.

I'm 55 so I don't have that biological clock ticking. I am very selective. I know what works for me and what doesn't. I know who I can get along with and who I won't get along with. I turn down offers for dates most of the time. I can usually tell very quickly whether we'd be wasting each other's time. I have a good, platonic friend and honestly, most of my close friends are men. It would be nice to find a really great, holistic connection with someone that also includes chemistry and romance. I've had it before and honestly, it kind of ruined me for lesser connections.
All the low self esteem messages you're playing in your head are a form of brainwashing. They are not true. Remember that when you go working against yourself. Don't work against yourself.

Work on your self esteem. A confident person attracts healthier people, friends or romantic partners.

Has anyone ever saved another persons life?
by LogCon ini don't mean you advised them and they changed their lives around, kind of saving a life.. i mean right before your eyes, right now, you had to do something to save a person or they would be dead.. how did it make you feel?
did it have any affect on you?.
forty years ago i was working on a construction site and a back-hoe had loosened a large boulder.

I took a knife out of someone's hand, who was about to stab another person. The person with the knife was unstable/mentally ill and other other person was was antagonizing her. Never really thought much about it.
I've saved a choking person. Guess adrenalin just made me swoop in and do it. I just felt relieved and like I did what anyone else would do in the same situation.

The WTBTS will use you until they use you up. You have the power to stop them from doing this. I know because I finally had it and I left.

Every November, the MCBA or Michigan Competing Bands Association has their state competition at Ford Field. I got to see Julian's marching band compete and win first place two years in a row. Much better use of this arena and I'm sure tons more interesting and fun.

Are Christians more or less likely to be in favour of stronger gun control than atheists?
by Seraphim23 ini have no agenda with this post, if anything i am suspecting the results will be against what i would want to hear as a christian.
however im asking the question as i am curious as to the results.
my personal position is in favour of a total ban but i do live in the united kingdom, however many of my friends live in the states.

What if you are neither an athiest nor a Christian?

800 Infant Bodies Found in a Septic Tank at Roman Catholic Children's Home
by cofty in796 infant skeletons have been found discarded in a septic tank at the former mother and baby home run by the catholic church in ireland between 1925 and 1961.. unwed mothers were sent these "magdelene asylums" to be treated like criminals.
their babies - if they survived - were taken from them.
if they did not survive their bodies were thrown into a septic tank and forgotton.

I'm trying to remember whether it was the movie or some articles I read about the Magdelene laundries, but local authorities enjoyed some of the profits from the laundries. They turned over the girls and women to the laundries and received money for it. I recall, during my childhood, hearing girls say that their parents threatened to send them to live at the convent. We had no idea about the laundries.
My sister became pregnant at 15. She was sent away. My parents told everyone, including us younger siblings, that she went to Atlanta, GA to have her shoulder rebroken. Years later I found out that my parents placed her in a Roman Catholic Home for Unwed Mothers in New Orleans, LA. She spent her pregnancy there, then gave her baby boy up for adoption. She said it was a decent place, in a stately, rather large Victorian house. She was given her schoolwork to do. She had chores she was assigned. She got to do hobbies and watch TV. She got to cook meals. She was given an allowance and pernitted to catch the trolley and busses to go downtown, on her own or with other girls and women from the home. They sent her to the doctor on her own. She said the only bad thing was that my parents insisted she give the baby up for adoption.
