Things I Never Knew When I Was A Witness!
by disillusioned 2 inthere are some things that as a witness i never knew.
maybe i was just going through the motions, attending meetings and not listening much.
never was very good at personal study or underlining answers in watchtower or book study (i never ever answered up) was too shy.. i never knew when i was a witness that they taught that jesus had looked down on the earth in 1919 to see who was serving god most accurately, and of course he chose a small group of bible students living in america!

I didn't know the GB taught that Jesus was only mediator for the annointed. If I had known they were claiming we had to go through them and them through Jesus to God, I'd have waked up a hell of a lot sooner. Somehow, I missed that point. -

Sounds pretty awful. I hope your recovery will be speedy. I also hope she has good insurance that repairs or replaces your bike. -

Does Anyone Still Believe in God?
by LaurenM indo any of you ex-jw's still believe in god?
even with the new rebranding/softening of this religion, i still don't see how people can believe in him.
the god of the old testimate is an angry murderer who approved rapes and slavery and killed thousands of men, women and children.

ladies , its not just me, is it?..
by sowhatnow inok ladies, has there been any documented studies on the role religion or society plays in keeping women in an economical and social disadvantaged state ?
im wondering how many other women out there in the world, who either being raised or being long term followers of a strict religious faith, with traditional family structures, have upon either divorce or death of a spouse find it nearly impossible to find a mate or economic stability , and live out the remainder of their lives struggling and either bouncing from one guy to another, being disappointed or used, or simply alone.
i have personally felt, that i, being a xjw and now divorced woman , with no acceptable work skills,[ ie: fancy resume with degrees] living of low wage part time work and barely any alimony , will simply be viewed as someone trying to get another man to support her.

Faye, I guess it depends on what you mean by lucking out, as to whether the women lucked out, too.
I know a couple of guys from JWN, who found great wives through chat lines or dating services. I can't recall any women who have said they found great husbands on chat lines or dating sites. There may be some from JWN, but I have missed them.
I've looked at the profiles of men on dating sites. There is occasionally a good, interesting profile.
The the suggestion about the oil boom towns up in ND and those states might be an idea.
We aren't JWs any longer. We don't have to be married, especially if we are past child bearing years. I'm not against marriage at all. I'm just not going to settle for the mediocre relationship, not when I've had a couple of outstanding ones to compare with the mediocre.
Both of my super great, holistic relationships began when I was not looking. I crossed paths with one and we enjoyed an instant rapport, that developed into a great friendship, then to love. The other one saw me and thought I'd be interesting and fun to get to know. He wooed me and boy was it fun. I knew the moment I saw him that he was different in a good way: handsome, intelligent, very deep thinking, witty as heck with a lot of accomplishments and interests. He is a charmer. I am still good friends with both of them.
