Loving-kindness
Great loving-kindness
And then the dreadful: Undeserved loving-kindness!
i read a comment on another thread that made me think of this topic.. how many catchphrases are used by the gb and organisation in an attempt to control or gain power or prevent questioning?
feel free to list as many as you can think of!.
i'll start:.
Loving-kindness
Great loving-kindness
And then the dreadful: Undeserved loving-kindness!
alexander korda produced and directed the movie 'that hamilton woman' in 1941. the lead parts were played by lawrence olivier as admiral horatio nelson and his wife vivien leigh played lady hamilton.
one day, onstage, korda found olivier only half dressed for his part as nelson.
"what's the matter?
I have a parrot named Nelson. He's very unusual in that he is right-footed. Parrots are the only birds that can hold their food in their foot whilst they eat. Most are left-footed.
I found that out in just a few seconds using Google.
BTW, he doesn't sing Kingdom melodies but he can whistle his way through the National Emblem march.
Which, BTW wasn't written by Sousa.
How about that?
imagine that the cult decided to stop shunning family members on the proviso that the dfd person was not actively trying to attack the cult.. (please don't debate whether or not this is likely - it's hypothetical).
how would you respond to your family?.
personally i think i would be less than cooperative.

jehovahs witnesses say that people have the right to change religions and that they deserve respect when it comes to that right, but this is not something that they offer to those who leave their religion.
Here's the article as it appears on the JW site:

In the late 70's, the WT brought out an article that considerably softened their stance on disfellowshipping. My parents duly softened their stance towards me, and, as Cofty suggested, I treated them as though they were an auntie and uncle, except that they knew that I regarded them as being slightly potty. However, I still totally shunned other JW's. After all, I reasoned that I was due for an apology!
A couple of years down the line, the WT re-affirmed their previous hard line, but this time my parents didn't go along with it, doubtless because they knew I would quote the soft WT article back to them. They wouldn't have wanted that!
Later, when my father died, my DF'd brother and my DF'd self took care of momma's financial arrangements and we would call in to se her on frequent occasions. She struggled sometimes when JW's were present on our visits, but as my bro firmly told her, they were her rules that were causing the problem, not ours.
the latest watchtower certainly indicates that the org thinks they are!!
why keep in expectation?
watchtower august 15 par.
i think he probably will (it is the us after all) but i hope he doesn't.
he caused incredible pain and suffering to men, women and children who had never done anything to him.
many died in unimaginable agony, others are disabled for life.
i always thought it was ridiculous that when a person was disfellowshipped they didn't tell us why.
everybody would speculate, but we wouldn't know the real reason.
also i thought they were only supposed to be disfellowshipped if they weren't repentant and wouldn't stop doing the wrong thing.
The 4 Scriptural steps required before anyone should be considered an outsider: Note that the congregation is ALWAYS involved before this step is taken, so the congregation would know the reason why someone is to be disciplined:
Step 1: "Moreover, if your brother commits a sin, go lay bare his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.
Step 2: But if he does not listen, take along with you one or two more, in order that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every matter may be established.
Step 3: If he does not listen to them, speak to the congregation.
Step 4: If he does not listen even to the congregation, let him be to you just as a man of the nations and as a tax collector."

engineer lands role on scheme that will predominantly be designed and constructed by volunteers.
so this fella went into a pub and said to another guy sat at the bar: "i think jehovah's witnesses are all assholes!
" to which the guy sat at the bar replied: "i resent that remark.
" so the fella said "oh, i'm sorry, i didn't realise that you were a jehovah's witness".
So this fella went up to heaven after he died and got shown around by Saint Peter.
As they were walking around seeing the sights, they came across this enormous football stadium. As they got closer, Saint Peter looked at the newbie, put his finger to his lips and said: "Shhhhhhh!"
"Why?" said the new fella, "What's the problem?"
"Ah, said Saint Peter, "There's 144,000 Jehovah's witnesses in there and they think that they're the only ones up here!"
