1 Thess 4:16 says "an archangel's voice", not "the archangel's voice", indicating more than one exists.
Daniel 10:13 calls Michael "one of the foremost princes", again, indicating more than one exists.
you are so right!
one of the biggest missunderstanding and unbiblical teaching of the jw's is that jesus is michael the archangel.
here is what proffessor anthony buzzard has to say about this:.

The jw's talk about the controversies that had to be answered, like: can a perfect human be loyal to God.
If Jesus was an angel before coming to earth, than, that controversy has not really been answered, was it?
Plus, the prophecy from Genesis says the seed of a woman had to destroy satan. If Jesus was an angel, was He really the seed of the woman?

Here is what proffessor Anthony Buzzard has to say about this:
after listening to the hearings of the australian royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse, i am no longer content to have simply walked away from the organization.
as a matter of conscience, i do not want my name linked with the organization in any way.
i know this letter has been posted previously, and i thank the author.
due to some recent developments i find myself in a new place, and at this point i've lost all of my family and fri....oh that's right, i never really had any friends in the organization anyway.
just people that wanted something from me and a few people that i would invite to do things that occasionally said yes.
the recent rejections of me got me thinking, so let's take a rejection inventory.. i had to reject all of the holidays when my parents started studying.. i had to reject any worldly friends that i already had.. even family became rejected, and the new religion had some place in that.. i was rejected in school and bullied all of the time, not just because we were poor and i made good grades, but for jw reasons too.
True, the religion of rejection. They even reject things in the Bible. They "read" the Bible with closed eyes. They reject everything except the words of gov. body.
They are blind worshipers of men.
I understand your feelings of rejection. I felt like that, too in this organization. I began studying as a teenager and got baptized after a few years. What I noticed about people in this org is that women are mean to each others, at least they were mean to me, some ready to fake a friendship and after, ready to stab you in the back....
Some elders, are revengeful, they demand to be looked up to. If they sense you do not look up to them they will follow your every move to find something to show you the power they have.
Most jw's are jealous and gossipers. deep down they wish they had a good life here in this system, they wish they'd be rich, but do not do anything about it, and when they see someone in the cong who is living better than them, they are envious.
so you have had some kind of supernatural revelation, a personal message from god and some miraculous sign that you have been personally chosen by the almighty, what would you do?.
would you be the same as every other wt'ite, dragging yourself to the meetings, getting your 10 hours in each month, maybe pioneering?.
listen!
All true Christians are baptized with holy spirit and anointed.
To say that the new testament is only for 144 000 people is crazy.
this is what i found in the transcript related to the date august 14 2015 (royal comision of australia):.
18 q. and if they don't actively disassociate, then they 19 will be disfellowshipped as apostate?
20 a. no, an apostate is someone who actively goes against 21 what the bible teaches.. this is a half true.
He said so many times it is not his field that it makes me wonder ... it there one of the gb members who is calling the shots on doctrinal issues and / or bossing the others?
in his testimony before the royal commission geoffrey jackson said he did not have the answer to the question posed to him regarding deuteronomy 22:25-27 and was unable to ask jesus at this time.
two things stand out to me about this piece of jackson's testimony.
1. he said he could not ask jesus.
Good point!!!
this question is known to be posed by jws to other jws as an acid test of loyalty.
i'm not the first to notice what i'm about to point out and comment accordingly, but today i felt compelled to add a short article on my blog highlighting the new language that governing body member geoffrey jackson supplies as a response.
a person who honestly hesitates to respond with a robust "yes!
It would be presumptuous to say that.
so i ran into this brother whom ive known for a while and the conversation led into me being invited to come back to the kingdom hall.
we talked for about an hour during which time i explained to him 607 being the wrong date and a lot of other stuff including the child abuse cases in australia.
but what i wanted to relate was the last few minutes of our conversation.
It's not like they invented the Bible. Nor do they own it.
The hope and the answers for humankind are in the Bible. But you get to live free, make your own decisions, not have a bunch of people try to control every aspect of your life.
Christianity is a religion of freedom and they made it a controlling cult.
Yes, it might be difficult alone. People might not understand your hope and your faith. But can you really find understanding in the organization?
I do not think so. Yes, you can socialize with some kind people, but I don't know if they are much better than the average person out there. There are situations when you can not really trust anyone in the org and you can not express yourself.
There are pros and cons for being inside and the same for being outside.
But I prefer freedom over fakeness.
I think there are some who continue to believe or to want to believe that this org is the only one because this thought is good for their ego. They are the ones who understood and are a part of the one and only org.
I don't understand the ones who stay in for the social life... there are so many decent, moral and human people out there. It all comes down to paying attention to people, being friendly, trying to get to know them and establish a relationship with the ones you like.
