Mine was the woman I studied with- we were very close for years...
She said she'd miss me dreadfully and as anyone who knows me here knows, I have been known to talk a little.....
she was as bad as me; our study would start at 9.30am and we'd actually get the books out around 12 ; if we felt like it...
She was really special to me and we knew EVERYTHING about eachother- luckily i'm not the blackmailing type...
but she managed to cut me out pretty easily when I left; I still see her occasionally- she can't get away fast enough. Such a shame but just goes to prove how much power the the WTBS has...

Personally, I don't think it is a valid argument to say it is an ESS. The primates that use it either don't have pair-bonds like we do, or are wholey solitary creatures invading a dominant males territoryE.volutionary S.table S.trategy, i.e is rape a genetic trait that is so succesful in passing on genes it remains in the population?
Abbadon, thats an interesting point; i've often wondered if this could be a factor.
But I am also aware that the number of pregnancies that arise from rape are very low, which make me think that the theory would'nt stand up from an evoloutionary point of view as it was ineffective?
I know in my case it was a power- based revenge crime. The motive was punishment - I would have preferred a beating.
As for coping- I know that for me and women that i've spoken to ;recovery is more likely if they felt their attacker was violence based and not sexually based.

Passing the time at boring meetings
by jws ini was doing some cleaning this weekend and ran across a drawer with a few of my old calculators, including my very first one.
today they have ones that are credit-card sized that do more.
but i remember getting it when i was about 12 and in 6th or 7th grade and at that time in the late 70's a calculator this size was still sort of a gadget.. for some reason the first thing that bounced into my mind when i pulled it out and looked at it was my old hall at the time.

I was quite liberal with my kids..if they were bored i'd take them home...used to get spoken to for that lol
we'd draw caricatures of people in the hall and the others would have to guess who they were..
( emphasising their 'outstanding' features and fabulous dress sense; kids can be so cruel)

Gambling is ok- especially if large amounts of alcohol are involved.
The problem is that some people will try to cheat and gloat over a win that is not really an honest one...
we should learn by example- when others in a similar situation were near to jedi they posted quietly and did'nt gloat .
There is also the matter of bribes of rides on motorbikes that make the other poster feel unable to retaliate fully....
I think the stakes should be raised....are you up for it? or are you chicken????!!!

Dede, i'm so sorry; it's going to be a tough time.
my friend has cancer- and I supported my mother through it- I'd say the most important part of my cancer journey with my mother as to be there for her- practically is great- but everyone will be aware of that...my mother wanted to talk about things she could'nt say to anyone else..
Many people are scared of people with cancer as it's such a frightening thing that reminds them of their own mortality - so the sufferer can end up with less friends and concern .I guess it's the day to day little things that mean alot- i'd read ro my mother-wash her hair, listen to what she wanted to happen if she died...that was really important to her- she did'nt want a tree planted in her memory-she was really against it for some reason... don't know why- then one year sfter her death some one wanted to- and I felt at least I could do things like that for her that were important to her- however stupid they silly it seemed to others.
shes glad to have you; take care of her Dede
