Here's a little infor for you Badboy: “HAPPY ARE THE DEAD WHO DIE IN UNION WITH THE LORD” Drawing great consolation from the written Word of “the God of all comfort,” the Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society of Pennsylvania announces herewith the death of Brother Hugo H. Riemer on March 31, 1965. After years of service as a pioneer publisher in the field, he was called to the Society’s Brooklyn headquarters in 1918, since which time he served with the Society’s headquarters till his death at eighty-six years of age. He was on the boards of directors of both the Society’s Pennsylvania corporation and its New York corporation, also serving in the official capacity of assistant secretary-treasurer of both corporations. Thus, after his dedication to Jehovah God in 1904, he served for the greater part of his long life in the direct, full-time service of his heavenly Father, as one of the anointed remnant of Christ’s followers. After a funeral service attended by 239 on Saturday morning, April 3, interment of his earthly remains took place at the private burial plot of the Brooklyn Bethel family at Huguenot Park, Staten Island, N.Y. Elder asks me why we quit... (Long)

in this thread i mentioned having a long chat with an elder last summer.

i didn't realize i had never posted the story, so here it is.. last summer (when i went to buy my new camera lens) i ran into one of my favorite jws at the photography shop.

he was buying a camera bag for his new dslr, and i saw him, went up and greeted him, hugged him.

Oldrade, Just 3 words: YOU GO GIRL!!! I found it very stimulating and informative! I remember when an elder came to my door, we spoke about my DA years ago and they wanted me back in the fold. I told him I have some questions that needed answers before even considering going back to the Org(picture that happening).Once I press him on the 144,000 number being literal or symbolic, and the hundreds of thousands of early Christians who were martyred for their belief in Christ, he jumps to a totally different topic!! LOL It wasn't only a few seconds(not minutes) later he was out the door, never to be seen at my door again. I found him as well as others I have encountered among the JWs with short attention spans.

My Parents are still in, but I still stay in contact with them. They always offer me the mags, but that is as far as they go concerning the borg and me. Most of my Aunts,uncle , and cousins are in it on my mother's side of the family.My father's side , only a few. My siblings are out with me.

a jw mother recently received a background check phone call concerning her son's interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement in another state.

she says nice enough things about her (ex-jw) son, but states that she doesn't talk to him much because he left the family religion, and then has the nerts to say that while she supports him to an extent, she disapproves of his career choice because, "as duhhhhoho's witlesses, we don't believe in law enforcement.

" what a shame to admit this.. i say, don't call 9-1-1 you stupid piece o' hell.

I remember some years back when I was contemplating on returning to the Borg, I was told by an elder that I shouldn't expect to hold any congregational positions due to my being in Law enforcement. I believe it was because of my on-duty weapon carry status.
