How many of you are childfree by choice?
by rebel8 inby that, i mean you do not want to have children.. i have been told since birth it would not be safe for me to have children, so i never even considered it.
i never went through a grieving period because the concept of having babies was not something i once had and lost.
i always envisioned myself as a happy career woman.. i recently married and am still sure i don't want children.

Just like most things, I take this on an individual basis: Some kids I like, and others I wish their parents would have been struck by lightning. I like kids who are kids, generally well behaved but can have fun and let loose. I love my nephews. My sister, I could sometimes live without, but such is life.
I think alot of what people don't like about kids is bad parenting. Kids screaming and misbehaving in public, that is the parent's idocy. Leave them home, the rest of us don't need the birth control lesson.
I am not too thrilled with cleaning up puke or poo, but sitting on the couch whatching Sponge Bob or DBZ with a blanket and snack with little bodies all over makes me cluck like a chicken. Jokes aside, I don't compromise myself like MJ, that si just stupid and asking for trouble.
If you've heard my Mrs. Doubtfire impression, that is pretty much it.

Do you have one favorite place on earth?
by AK - Jeff ini mean a specific location that you would go to time and again to just sit and look and enjoy?
or a favorite vacation destination?.
i love the cascade mountains as example.

The Cascade Mountains or the Olympic Coast in Washington state. So much to see and do, or just see and do nothing.

Bi-Sexual
by misguided ini guess my new-found freedom of personal expression is working its way down to my kids.. i came home from a crazy day at work, ate my dinner, was loading the dishwasher, when my 13-year-old son says, .
"mom, i have something to tell you - i'm bisexual...i've been that way for a year now.
i still can't help but have my old jw brain at work, thinking this is not okay - kind of like, i'm an apostate with a bisexual son...what will my family say?!

I DON'T even want to ask if he's had sex. Although I don't think he has, but I'm afraid to ask just in case the answer is yes, because I'm not sure I'm ready for that. He's a pretty good kid, and doesn't usually do things to "shock" me.
So many things, and I am probably not the best one to articulate on this, but I will try.
This is not about you. This is not your fault. You did not "do" this.
This is about your son. If he knows the words and uses them correctly when reffering to himself, then it is very likely he understands what he is saying to you.
You're afraid to talk about sex with your son? You can not afford to hide from this issue. You need to make shure that he is safe (safer). You owe it to him, and you owe this to yourself.
I think it would be reasurring to him for you to thank him for being open and honest, as sharing this kind of thing with a parent is not easy, even at 27.
Who knows, maybe this is just a phase. But as he matures and he becomes the man he will be, he may go more towards either end of the spectrum.
I do not mean to sound preachy or judgemental at all. I went (am still going?) throught this mostly on my own. The coming out process for me was somewhat adversarial, but has settled down now. I think you have a valuable opportunity to work with your son, and help him be a well adjusted, happy human being.
I wish you the best. If you want, I am open to PMing or speaking with you.

We touch each other...
by MerryMagdalene in.
...in so many ways, some known to us, others remaining unknown and unrecognised, sometimes for years, sometimes forever.. so, my question is: would you rather know of the ways in which your presence effects others or would you prefer such things not be drawn to your attention?
recognition or anonymity?.

There are times when I am feeling paranoid or inscure, and I might think I want to know, but I realize that that is my crap to work out not for me to dump on others. Other times, I don't think it is any of my business. But none of that is absolute.

Killing the WTS subtly programmed ideas.
by greendawn inafter leaving the jws can you recall any instance(s) where more or less suddenly becoming aware of a hitherto unconscious wts idea(s) subtly programmed into your mind, brought a great positive change in your persective of things and your overall disposition?
(once a subconscious idea is brought up to awareness it is easier to dispose of.
or perhaps the above happened when you really grasped the meaning of a programmed idea you were always consciously aware of.

It was so WOW at first finding these things hidden away--some not so well--but now I see it as a challenge to get the ones that are more sublte. I am also noticing things that were planted not by the JWs but by our culture and society at large.
I like to think of these things as aberational eddies and currents in the stream of conscious thought.

A question for Evil Force
by Junction-Guy ini have read in several of your posts that you are a doctor, what is your line of practice?
if you would share that with us here that would be cool.
also how often has the blood transfusion issue come up in your practice.

How is that different from a neuro surgeon? Or is that distinction unnessesary?
So, what are your insights or experiences with patients with fibromyalgia? [I have to go to SPA class now, so I'll get back here tomorrow.]
