Is that a note in one of their little paws? Hmmm.... good thing I've been watching CSI and CSI: Miami. It would appear to me that this is definately a suicide pact. Or is it? Maybe that's what the killer wants us to think. I'll consult Horatio and get back with you.

Have you ever been dobbed in, and for what??????????
by BLISSISIGNORANCE intoday was a good day.
saturday, no witnessing, no meeting prep, no skirt and no dubs, no rush to do anything in particular, went to the mall to get some things, bumped into my brother (non dub) and his partner and my 3yo neice, had coffee with them and hubby, chatted, came home, kelpie dropped by to visit, went grocery shopping with my neighbour, ......................just to mention a few things.
doing what i wanted to do!.

I would say that "dobbing" or "getting dobbed in" could have been like a congregation pasttime where I grew up. If something went on that one JW didn't like, the elders were IMMEDIATELY informed. And, I was ALWAYS being talked to by the elders.
During my senior year of high school, I took a class on world cultures. I was doing a report on Ireland for this class and checked out a book from the library to help with my report. The cover of the book had a leprechaun and a clover on it. One of the elder's kids saw the book in my car. I got called into the back room after the next meeting so they could discuss demonistic images and good luck charms and why we should stay away from them. When they finally mentioned that I was seen with the book, I couldn't believe it. I explained to them why I had the book and offered to bring it to the next meeting so they could see it was a book about Ireland. They didn't want me bringing "that" book into the hall, so one of them came to my house to look at it.
While at my house, the elder asked me why I would even take this kind of class. It was actually what I considered to be an "easy A." But, I told him that I thought it would help prepare me for when I become a missionary.

A Letter From Santa I regret to inform you that, effective immediately, I will no longer serve the States of Georgia, Florida, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana on Christmas Eve. Due to the overwhelming current population of the earth, my contract was renegotiated by North American Fairies and Elves Local 209. As part of the new and better contract I also get longer breaks for milk and cookies so keep that in mind. However, I'm certain that your children will be in good hands with your local replacement, who happens to be my third cousin, Bubba Claus. His side of the family is from the South Pole. He shares my goal of delivering toys to all the good boys and girls; however, there are a few differences between us. Such as: 1.There is no danger of the Grinch stealing your presents from Bubba Claus. He has a gun rack on his sleigh and a bumper sticker that reads: "These toys insured by Smith and Wesson." 2.Instead of milk and cookies, Bubba Claus prefers that children leave an RC cola and pork rinds on the fireplace. And Bubba doesn't smoke a pipe. He dips a little snuff though, so please have an empty spit can handy. 3.Bubba Claus' sleigh is pulled by floppy-eared, flyin' coon dogs instead of reindeer. I made the mistake of loaning him a couple of my reindeer one time, and Blitzen's head now overlooks Bubba's fireplace. 4.You won't hear "On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen.." when Bubba Claus arrives. Instead, you'll hear, "On Earnhardt, on Andretti, on Elliott and Petty." 5."Ho, Ho, Ho!" has been replaced by "Yee Haw!" And you also are likely to hear Bubba's elves respond, "I her'd dat!" 6.As required by Southern highway laws, Bubba Claus' sleigh does have a Yosemite Sam safety triangle on the back with the words "Back Off." 7.The usual Christmas movie classics such as "Miracle on 34th Street" and "It's a Wonderful Life" will not be shown in your negotiated and viewing area. Instead, you'll see "Boss Hogg Saves Christmas" and "Smokey and the Bandit IV" featuring Burt Reynolds as Bubba Claus and dozens of state patrol cars crashing into each other. And Finally, 8. Bubba Claus doesn't wear a belt. If I were you, I'd make sure you, the wife, and the kids turn the other way when he bends over to put presents under the tree!!!!! Sincerely Yours, Santa Claus

What Ways Did You Rebel Against The Elders & The "Truth"?
by minimus ini used to get a kick out of how some people used to push the elder's buttons.
sisters would wear a dress that was 1 inch above the knee just to get the brothers going.
or brothers would grow something a little longer than a mustache......what did you do to exert your independence??

I told the elders that I had no interest in going to Bethel. Then six months later, went to college. I left my parents' house and moved into a dorm room so the elders would leave them alone. The elders essentially couldn't do anything because I wasn't living under their roof anymore. They weren't supporting me financially in any way. Plus, I was attending meetings in my new cong. and turning in "average" time every month.
One Sunday, after going to the meeting with my folks, the elders visited with us. My dad just told them, "Brothers, he's an adult now. (I was 19.) He doesn't live under my roof anymore; and I don't support him anymore. This is his decision. It doesn't involve me. I've expressed to him my feelings on the matter. So, I really don't think I need to be here." Then he left! LOL! (My father's views on the matter were, "as long as you're active in your new cong., you should go to college and get a good education. But, I'll be checking up on you regularly." And, did he ever! If I missed a meeting, he knew about it.)
They sat there a few seconds, not really sure what to do next. Picking up the cue from my father, I realized that these weren't my elders anymore. I stood up and said, "Well, brothers, it was good to see you. Brother "Jones" (a well known brother in the circuit and one of the elders in my new cong.) is my book study conductor, I'll be sure to tell him you said hello at this week's book study. If you're ever down our way, be sure and come by the hall to say hello."
It was so cool to take their power away from them!

What would you consider to be 'Victory over the Watchtower'?
by nicolaou ini'm not talking about a victory which might include welcome reforms on blood policy, shunning or the handling of abuse allegations.
what i want to know is what we would consider to be the victory.. it is unlikey in the extreme that the various corporations of the watchtower empire will ever be closed down so, realistically what can we hope for in the long term?
say 30 - 50 years?.

My greatest victory over the WTS came the day my parents told me that they left the Truf, too.

If you were to become a JW, you would have an awful, unhappy and miserable life. I know, I've been there.
I was raised a JW. I was a third generation JW, actually. My grandmother had become a witness in the 1960s. So, I truely believed what the JWs said about homosexuality. I truely believed that if I prayed hard enough... if I opened my heart to Jehovah... if I put his interests above my own... I could be "changed." I sincerly did everything I could to get this "impurity" taken away from me, but it never happened. I could never get rid of it, and I wanted to!!
You can only take being a failure for so long. I came to view myself as unworthy of God's love. Eventually, I came to view myself as unworthy of living. Because of what the JWs said about homosexuality and what they thought God's view on it was, I felt that it would be better to be dead, than gay. That at least my parents would never know the truth about me. One afternoon, before my sister got home from school and my parents got home from work, I slit my wrist. My mother had left work early that day with a headache and came into the bathroom as I was about to cut the other one. Horrified, she immediately rushed me to the hospital. Was it luck that my mother took the afternoon off? Or, was it God's direction? All I can say, is that it was the first time in a long time that I felt God's love in my life. My mother and I came up with a "cover" story and have never spoken about it since.
When I got old enough, I moved to a different state so that I could be "me." This would also allow me to keep my true self a secret from my parents. This was important to me because JWs do not associate with their family members that are no longer members of the religion. This would include parents and their children. If I kept my "activities" from my parents, then I could still have a relationship with them. Then a few years later, my parents left the religion as well. I was so happy because I could finally stop lying about who I was. When I went to tell them I was gay, my mother actually stopped me before I could say the words and said "I know." My father told me, "I can't say that I like it. I can't say that I approve of it. But you're my son, and I don't love you any less because of it." Fast forward six years... I have a wonderful partner, boyfriend, companion... whatever you want to call him... who my parents love! And they are almost totally unphased by their gay son and his boyfriend. This wouldn't have been possible if they were still members of the religion.
I'm sure my story isn't unique. And, I'm sure it doesn't totally apply to your situation. I do, however, hope that it gives you some insight as to the "attitude" the religion has towards gays and lesbians.

RATED R MOVIES
by sandy inthis past weekend a relative came over with these ultimate fighting dvds that he bought but he wouldn't sit down and watch city by the sea because it is rated r.
they can be so dense and hypocritical!
when i pointed out to him that his ultimate fighting dvds are un-rated but in my opinion it is far worse to watch people fighting for pure entertainment purposes than it is to see a rated r movie that teaches a great life lesson.

My parents were more against the violence than the sex. Not that they put up with either. My sister and I weren't allowed to watch the Bond films, but we were allowed to watch "Dirty Dancing" with my mother's finger constantly on the fast forward button if anything bad came up.
Never understood the reasoning, but man did I learn that "Nobody puts Baby in the corner!"
